We were hoping to get photos done before our son's 1st birthday and she was able to provide us with a great date/time option. We really lucked out. On the day of our shoot we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The drive to the studio was beautiful and worth it - we drove from over 30 minutes away. The studio was immaculate and ready to go for our time together. Her prep email was extremely detail oriented and let us know exactly what to expect. Once there we could easily see the setups and there was a perfect place for us to finish getting ready. Even though we brought most of our outfits she also offered an additional one for us to use and it photographed so lovely. Lastly, the cake smash session was literally the icing on the cake. Shantel does some minor editing and the pictures turn out really natural, so it's not too much which I prefer. Shantel must be one of the most creative people I've ever met. SLB Photography looks for nice backdrops and props according to your style or requests. When you book a session with SLB Photography, don't expect to come in a professional photo studio. Shantel does the photo shoots at her house (or on location), but I feel like this is definitely a plus if you have a session with kids! Because she has a toddler, there are plenty of things/toys to distract your kids during the session or in between while Shantel changes her sets. She's also really good with the kids. Good pictures start from being at ease and Carrie will definitely put you at ease. Even from the first consultation, she makes you feel like you are the only client and the only one that matters. Her pictures are amazing and every now and then she'll say "Let me try something" - those will be the best pictures. One thing I was not expecting was for her to help me draw up a timeline for the day. I didn't have a wedding planner and kind of cobbled it all together myself. Carrie, based on all her experience, advised me on getting hair and makeup done earlier (she was right), having the flowers delivered earlier (she was right again - especially since the delivery was running late), and leaving earlier to get to the church. As she said, no bride has ever complained about being too early. I wasn't too early at any stage and her timeline actually prevented me from being late and stressed out. The second photographer she came with (Dan) was just as great. After meeting him for the first time on the day of the wedding, I was instantly at ease with him in under 5 mins. I could go on and on but no one will read a super long review. Bottom line - book Carrie. You won't regret it!

It took several emails to get in touch with her to schedule our time slot. We struggled to find the price list for prints and didn't receive it until after our session. Your online gallery is only available online for 7 days. And if you want it longer, it's $100 fee. It's good to get some sort of package otherwise you get completely nickeled and dimed for everything. It's also $500 for 10 digital prints and prints start at $25 FOR ONE. Honestly, we were just thrown for a loop when we got the price listing after our photos were taken. Had we known we might have considered a package. But our session was a gift so we can't complain too much. If you don't mind spending a fortune, go for it. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure you could find someone else for a better price.
