I called to ask to reschedule the appointment as I had to walk to the clinic and did not want to get sick. I explained that I had had pneumonia several times before and did not want to be exposed to the elements, especially with COVID around. I've seen several different clinics at home, and I walked away from Alaia Physiotherapy impressed. First, I loved the fact that I could schedule my appointments online. It was easy to see who was free, their specialties, and their availability. It made it easy to schedule two appointments during the week I was in Vancouver. Secondly, I had hands-on time with the therapist for the entire appointment. The therapist didn't send me to do exercises independently (which is a necessary part of therapy). The therapist stayed with me the whole time - instructing, answering questions, and working on my injuries. I also got to experience a few modalities not common at home, which was a great experience. Lastly, I loved that everyone works with a therapist in a private office, giving you the freedom to talk about health information one-on-one. Alaia Physiotherapy is a class act. So here goes. I am a plus sized woman. Just a fact. Happily, it's pretty rare that I feel that my size impacts the way I'm treated. In fact, the only time in recent memory that I've felt my size impacted how I was treated by someone was with the massage I received at Qi. Now, this is not a statement against everyone that works there. In fact, I had a great massage many years ago (I even asked the team if they could help me track her down, to no response), but I couldn't tell you who it was with. This time however, I selected to have an appointment with Jorg. He specializes in joint, posture & movement issues, and with chronic problems I have stemming from a past broken leg and multiple related surgeries, he seemed like the perfect match. Only, that hope was one way, as I got the distinct impression from the moment he walked in the room that I wasn't his "ideal" client. What followed was a 50 minute massage (in a 60 minute timeslot), zero check-ins about pressure or anything at all, and about the only words he said to me felt like a complete slap in the face. At the end of our time, he told me bluntly that he specializes in *sports* massage, and that the next time I come in? I should book with someone else. Message received loud and clear, Jorg. So the real rat bf would probably be 4/5 of Those reviews were factored in ( they sound legit to me ) I've been going for treatment for 2 years and I've seen several practitioner. They have all been good to great. I've had acupuncture from several people there and they all knew what they were doing. I'm pretty picky when it's comes to paying for services and I only have one small issues with this place. Someone mentioned the cleanliness , I've had pillows with hairs on then so maybe they arnt washing the pillow cases as they should but if I'd see that I just ask for a new one.
