I had to learn how to walk, I had speaking slight impairment and I needed physical occupational, speech and neurological physiological therapy. They are very gentle, kind, friendly, patient and helpful as long as you trust the process. They treat the outpatient therapy just like they treat the patients that live there from my observation . They are also are very professional and are like angels working in there to get us back to a new normal. If you only understand what the people go through as in patient to get to where we are today. This place should all five stars, therapist have for us you would give everybody a five star display should be on the news because of how great they are and the jobs they do I can speak for myself. I've seen over 20 of us that came in and left better than I expected, I was using a wheelchairs when I first got there, it was painful and hard to walk more than four steps!!! I couldn't walk and then I got to a place where I bought a cane and practiced with it, I actually can us a cane at any time but after my fall I'm afraid so I use my walker not because I can't walk but because it gives me stability. I can now do things I couldn't do before! I'm a different person and my life has value, the support groups the confidence is by far amazing!!! Thank You

JFK Acute rehab came highly recommended for it's physical therapy and we were not disappointed in this one area. HOWEVER, On the other hand, the nursing and care the patients receive in their rooms is HORRIBLE; especially if they are suffering from any type of post-surgical confusion. Many nurses are completely insensitive to the patients needs or feelings. Nurses use restraints and netted beds regularly. It is not unusual to wait 20-30 minutes for a response after ringing the call bell. Doctors over prescribe sedatives because it's easier to drug the patients than take care of them. Before sending your loved one here, please do your homework. Although the PT and OT are great, the humiliation is not worth it.

In the beginning I noticed some improvement with her memory but that could been the result of the medication. Now we come to find that she was given the wrong medications and some were never even given to her the whole time. She was sent to the hospital several times due to low BP which I believe to be the result of the medication being mixed up causing her to have no appetite. I have witnessed the nurse call button be used and turned off without anyone ever coming in the room to check on my grandmother when we pressed it a second time it took yet another 20 minutes for someone to come in. After visiting hours my grandmother was basically left to her own devices if she had to get to the bathroom, she is in there because she is not steady on her feet and needs assistance walking, etc. Instead of helping their patients they put diapers on them and then leave it. Unbelievable. The place is outdated. Mixing up someone's medication is unbelievably dangerous and careless. Please do the research if you or a loved one needs to go into a rehab and find somewhere/anywhere other than here.

The facility did not give her a walker despite asking for one and was told if she needed to go to the bathroom to ring for help. She did as instructed, waited an hour and no one came. Rather than wet the bed she forced herself out of bed and into the bathroom - could have done extreme damage to herself. They also got a critical medication dosage wrong and when we tried to get it resolved the staff person and then the nurse - rather than offering to check with the dr - were obstinate in insisting that it was the correct dose. After some raised voices we finally got them to confer with the dr. The food was inedible - I brought lunch and dinner almost every night. Twice, in the week she was there, someone woke her in the middle of the night asking if they could change her diaper - she didn't wear a diaper. Rarely did any staff member introduce themselves and/or explain their role. Random people would walk in and start taking or asking questions and we'd have to ask them who they were and what their role was. It was very disconcerting to be woken up by a strange man in the middle of the night wanting to "change a diaper" that didn't exist. There were some patients/residents sitting in the lounge area in their wheelchairs every day with a plate of food in front of them but it looked like they could not feed themselves. I never saw anyone interact with them. It was heartbreaking. I like to believe that the staff care for the most part but they need a lot of training and/or additional staff/nurses. The room was clean The lady at the front desk in the downstairs lobby was always friendly.

In my opinion & experience, our family recently experienced a very upsetting and confusing…read moreadmissions process involving a Medicaid-pending married couple seeking placement together. After touring the facility, being told both my parents would be accepted and together , which was most important to my family & expressed deeply to the administration. I was encouraged to initiate the transfer process for my mother who is in another facility , after obtaining OCCO/PAS approval, and transferring one spouse into the facility all was approved , we were later informed that the second spouse was being denied due to "acuity level" and "payor "status concerns. What made this especially difficult was the lack of any clear clinical explanation despite repeated questions, while nearly every conversation focused heavily on finances, Medicaid pending status, payees, and financial responsibility paperwork & give us until Monday after a stressful week to discuss like it didn't matter . Families navigating long-term care are already overwhelmed emotionally, financially, and physically. Communication matters. Transparency matters. If there are concerns about Medicaid pending admissions, families deserve honest and direct communication before major decisions are made , especially when dealing with elderly married couples who may now face separation after relying on representations made during the admissions process. I strongly encourage families to: * read every admissions and financial form carefully, * understand the difference between POA and personal financial responsibility, * keep all communications documented * and ask detailed questions before making transfer decisions Be aware that federal law (42 CFR § 483.15) prohibits facilities from requiring a third-party guarantee of payment. As for the food , my father hates it and says it's disgusting . He said he has lost a lot of weight , he says his stomach is shrinking & he is not liking , or eating the food , he is hungry all the time however he said he can't stomach to eat the food . . I have ordered outside food to the facility upon my Dads request. My dad is Jewish , he's not at all kosher , however he liked the Kosher meals on wheels at home . Outside of PT and OT sessions, my father appears to spend nearly all day in his room/in bed with little to no meaningful activity or engagement , which to me is deeply concerning . Communication and responsiveness to the facility have also been extremely frustrating during our experience. This process has been heartbreaking and unnecessarily stressful for our family. Mother's Day weekend passed & my parents are now an hour from one another & separated due to what happened here . Disgraceful Not to mention I feel the admissions department is useless & they do not respond with any concerns whatsoever!! UPDATE JULY 9, 2026: In my opinion : The negligence at this facility continues to worsen. The facility recently lost my father's custom dentures for two full days--a clear sign that staff is not performing the daily oral care required by the facility . Instead of taking responsibility, the administration actually tried to blame my 90 year old father with vascular dementia to try to avoid paying for them, claiming "he said he put them in his pocket." This facility loses personal property, refuses to take accountability, and tries to financially exploit vulnerable families to cover up their staff's failure who was & supposed to be cleaning the dentures daily at night & had no idea they were missing for two whole days . A formal complaint has been filed with the New Jersey Department of Health ++!! Update - I feel the healthcare that my father is getting is unacceptable- it's now over a month that the facility lost my dads dentures - to top it off the owner's son is only interested in sending alleged bills to my home .He told me only families that have signed agreements that are Medicaid pending (my dad is pending ) not receive private pay bills , If I do receive 1 more I will post all of them . My husband was in Anchor for 3 weeks after Coronary Bypass surgery and the care was abysmal. Only…read moreone nurse responded to questions. The institution claims that he saw a Dr. the first day but only one other time the last day before we took him home. He lost about 20 lbs in this period from refusing to eat the food and getting depressed. There is only one shower forall the patients on the 3rd floor and his surgical incision was supposed to be showered daily. There was no recourse to air our grievances. The Social Worker was hard to reach and not available to help us out. As his wife, I was constantly frustrated by the lack of oversight. I feel that the facility is highly understaffed and overworked. There was no way to reach the patients except by cellphone before 9 AM and after 5 PM. When I spoke to the Management they spouted their great 5 star reviews. But when I finally went to Yelp the reviews were horrendous. I see that they only got 1 1/2 stars. In terms of rehab - in the "gym" people were in wheelchairs heads bent - very sad to see. At least my husband did get a half hour of PT but no communication with family as to progress, etc. As I was leaving one day after my daily oversight visits a patient yelled out to me "WELCOME TO THE PRISON."

Deceptive Billing Caveat Emptor: buyer beware! My wife…read moreplaced her ninety year-old mom in this facility, with the verbal understanding that her care would be totally covered by Medicare insurance, after disenrolling her from United Health Care. They did not make my wife aware that her mom would have to pay $209 per day for her stay. My wife was too preoccupied with her mom's needs and the appearance that the facility was caring: needless to say, this turned out to be far from the truth. After my wife took her out, Anchor Care made her aware that she owed over $16,000. While my wife acknowledges she should have gotten everything up front, in writing and not trusted a verbal assurance, it is clear now that the facility in not trustworthy. On another note, the care her mom received was subpar, but that's another story. Avoid placing your loved ones in this facility, but if you must, get everything up front, in writing and visit the facility daily to insure that they are providing the care you are paying for.
