Last night on Jun 12th, my car was towed and damaged last night. I pulled into the parking lot on King street, and immediately one of JG towing company tow vehicles pulled behind my car. He asked my father if this was his car and my father said no this is my son's car and they are scanning the code to pay for parking. My wife scanned the code and paid for parking and entered all the right information. The first payment for parking covered us from 715pm to 915pm. The tow truck came back and towed my car at 840pm. Unbeknownst to me (my car had already been towed) we extended from 915pm to 1115pm to ensure we legally pay for our parking. We show up around 1105 to leave and I find out my car had been towed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I call Jg towing, and they tell me it was because we entered the wrong license plate. After confirming the right license plate was entered, they still would not correct their wrong.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So the guy who towed my car actually showed back up to tow more cars. So I said hey why did you tow my car, he said because it was expired. I showed him receipts and he said wrong license plate. Showed him it was not, and he called his boss Julio. They then said well you scanned but paid for the wrong zone. I said WHAT! Y'all watched us scanned this code here, and my car has not left. They then said well that's not our fault it's Honks fault. WHAT!!!!! So y'all watch me park, pay and extend and you tow my car and make me pay 210.00 dollars to get my car, damage my vehicle and blame me and Honk! Y'all wrong and something has to be done about this. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I told Julio that it is ok to say hey we messed up but they doubled down on them being wrong and not their fault because the scanner code put the wrong zone in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So in total I paid over 300.00, between tow fees, parking fees and an Uber and now have to take my car to the BMW service department to get fixed. My braking system, airbag system, and front light are all damaged. This is unacceptable!!! My car got towed by this company on a Friday night after 6pm in a spot that was labeled open for parking after 5pm. We were parked for less than 15 mins and we came back and my car was gone. We took a photo of the sign and ubered to the company. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The lady I talked to at the window told me she would talk to her manager about a possible wrongful tow. Sucks that my initial review got deleted but here's a very quick summary with an update. My fathers car got towed from my complex and it was completed by JG Towing. They created about $1000 of damage to his front driver & passenger side as well as his front light. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We tried to contact them and they're pretty much saying f**k you by blocking his phone number.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're trying to call for a tow for any personal reason I wouldn't risk it with them having such careless employees. If you're unfortunately towed from a complex (valid or not) like my father was. I highly recommend you check your car before you leave the lot. They will block you and will do everything in their power not to pay. I've also heard from my neighbors they've had similar experiences so it's definitely not just me. read more

Our car got towed in less than 5 minutes of my husband walking upstairs to help me down with our three young children. My husband literally chased the truck, who saw him, and kept going. We were not illegally parked.... We took less than 5 minutes to return our parking passes and they made $295 on us and we had to go to the gas station to pick it up from a less than cordial individual. It took over an hour for us to get our car back when they weren't even off the island. No clue what they were doing the whole time as no one would tell us where to go or when they would be there. This company has predatory business practices. They have the right to remove cars from parking lots, and take full advantage of it. I paid the meter for my spot throughout the night. The meter expired by about 15 minutes. I went out to feed the meter, found a girl in an alley around the corner from my car having a diabetic episode so I helped her for a few minutes. In the small window of time from when the meter expired and my return, my car was towed. The car couldn't have been gone more than 15 minutes when I finally got someone on the phone and they told me I had to wait until the morning to pick up my car and I would have to drive 16 miles away from where it was towed to get it AND PAY $200-$300. My car was towed by illegally- I have the ticket to prove that I paid. I was charged 211.00 for the tow and am trying to to contact the managers of the Burns and King parking lot to get reimbursed- this appears to be a scam- since there is no way to speak to a human for the parking lot to get justice. Anyone out there have any advice for how to contact the managers of the parking lot? All I get is a recorded message -which doesn't connect me with a human. The only silver lining was the wonderful Charleston police officer who assisted me to determine that my car was in the impound in North Charleston. Rude and dont even help. My husband worked for them and when his truck was out of commission he was too due to a broken rim that was NOT his fault. It was a simple mistake. Any how they never paid him for the work he did and on top of that took money if anything from the "broken rim" that was already cracked. I would never use this company for anything. I parked my car in downtown Charleston, in a city-owned, metered parking spot on Charlotte Street, just before Meeting Street, next to Second Presbyterian Church, after hours of when the meters are monitored by the city on Friday night. This area of Charlotte Street is not in a residential area that requires residential parking passes, as the signs noted. I often use this area to park in as it is free, safe, and not a busy area. Upon parking my car, I locked it, ensured that I was properly parking within the lines outlining the parking space. The parking spot was outlined with white lines and was not a handicapped parking spot. I returned to the parking spot where I parked about 3 hours later and realized that my car was no longer there. I immediately called Charleston City Parking Services, knowing that I was parked in a city spot, to see if they had any information on why my car was no longer there, thinking that the city must have had someone tow it for a legitimate reason. The city had no record of my car being towed that night. I called a private towing company that services most of the pay-to-park, private parking lots in downtown Charleston. They also had no record of my car, and when I described to them where I parked my car, they indicated that they do not service that area. At that point, I had no idea where my car would have gone so I called 911 to report that my car was missing. The city dispatched an officer to meet me. I described the nature of the situation I was in and offered to help. The officer called the city parking services to see if any new tow reports had come in, and still had no record of my car. The officer also called the same private towing company I called to ensure nothing new had been reported with them, and they still did not have any record of my car. In a final attempt before escalating the situation to officially report a missing car, the officer called his dispatcher to see if they received any new information on my car. He was informed that a call just came in for my car from a private towing company. The officer noted to me that they had never heard of the towing company before and provided me with the number to contact them. This was JG Towing. I called JG Towing, and their dispatcher answered and confirmed that they towed my car. I asked the dispatcher the reason for towing my car. He said that because I had not paid for my parking spot in the pay-for-parking, private lot on King Street and Calhoun Street, they towed my car. The dispatcher advised that I could pay $211 by Apple Pay, Venmo, Cash App or cash-- credit or debit cards are not accepted, to get my car back. When asked when I could retrieve my car, the dispatcher at the towing company said that they are not open on the weekends (Saturday or Sunday), but if I called early Saturday morning, I could potentially arrange a time to pick up my car, as a courtesy to me. However, if I did not pick up my car the next day, I would be charged an additional fee for each day it was held. The next day (Saturday), I called JG Towing to arrange a time to pick up my car. The dispatcher stressed again that I would need to pay the $211 fee by Apple Pay, Venmo, Cash App, or cash, as they do not accept credit or debit card payments. Upon arrival at their office, which is a small, run-down utility shed, I met an employee who was able to make the transaction so I could get my car back. The employee was on the phone with the CEO of the company, Tony Gentile. Tony requested my phone number so he could send me a Cash App request of $211 to complete my transaction to get my car back. While the employee was still on the phone with the CEO, I requested to receive a report of the details around when my car was towed, what location, and the reason. He said that they don't have that information on hand and I may be able to request it from the office by visiting the office when they're open on Monday. I pressed the employee to request pictures of my car, at a minimum, from the CEO. The CEO sent three pictures of my car to the employee. All three pictures showed my car already hooked up to the tow truck, in a well-lit parking lot, with buildings surrounding it, much like the private lot on Calhoun Street and King Street. None of the pictures showed my car not hooked up to the truck nor in the original space that I parked my car in. The company said it had no record of my car ever being on Charlotte Street, where I originally parked. I finally received my car back, confirmed that all of the doors were locked and there did not seem to be any foul play indicating that the car was broken into or stolen-- everything was exactly where I had left it when I parked Friday night on Charlotte Street. JG Towing stole my car to make an illegitimate claim that I was parked illegally in a private lot, so they could tow it away and hold it for ransom until I paid $211. read more

I was recently in a bad car accident. JG Towing, Chris Blunt, towed my car for charleston county police department. I have never been dear with such professional, caring people before. In the past I've used many other towing companies in the charleston area and my car was always ransacked and personal items stolen. My purse with all my personal belonging sat in the front passenger seat for 3 days till I got out the hospital and not one thing was taken! They even brought me personal belongings and my license plate to me, things my mom could not get or over looked! Our car was towed on a Saturday night (on accident by one of our vendors whose parking lot we use downtown for work.) Since it was so late when we found out the car was towed, they said we could come in on Sunday to pick it up. When we called Sunday morning to come pick up the car, they said no one would be in the shop, and they didn't know when (or if) anyone would be there that day. They also told us we would be fined extra money every day we weren't able to pick it up... The owner was extremely rude and told us they also only excepted cash or Venmo and would not give is a receipt for payment once made (which seemed a little shady.) Needing our car to get to work, we ended up just driving out to their lot in North Charleston and waited for someone to show up. After 3 hours of waiting outside after taking an Uber, someone showed up and told us they didn't have our car and that it was about 20 minutes away and someone else in their staff would have to pick it up. Not sure why they kept telling us on the phone that it was in their lot? Seems to me like the Better Business Bureau needs to be called on this company. All in all, it was a terrible experience involved with shady + rude characters. If you need to get someones car towed, please use a company who is legitimate in Charleston (like Turkey's Towing or Jennings.) read more

We were staying in a condo on Folly Beach when a lying power-hungry HOA property manager called this business to have our car towed away at 10:30 PM on a Sunday night. We were frantic since we had to catch early flights home on Monday morning. Thankfully, Chris, the JC Towing employee manning the phone that night, understood our plight and worked with us to pay online and had the tow truck driver leave our vehicle parked outside the impoundment so we could UBER into Charleston and get our car back. Dustin arrived fast, was very professional, and friendly. He was diligently careful, maneuvering his rig onto the curved driveway, edged with landscaping, and maneuvering my car out of the crowded garage. The meter pay box doesn't work and phone number on the sign for the lot doesn't answer. My son told the tow driver this and the driver laughed and told him $97 cash. He would not wait for my son to go down the street to an ATM. Son asked why and driver started yelling and became aggressive threatening to 'beat your ass'. Then proceeded to tell to fuck off and refused to give me his name, any proof of the tow, or where it was being towed too. Fee is now $211 since I was denied the opportunity to pay to get my vehicle. My car was wrongfully towed yesterday from the George St parking lot, 4 minutes after I paid for an hour of parking. The first person I called asked for a screenshot of my payment confirmation, and said there must have been a glitch in the system. The second person I talked to said they had a new employee who messed up. This was a massive inconvenience, I had to wait almost an hour after calling to get my car back, making me an hour late to an important dinner I had. This was an extremely disappointing experience. I initially thought my car had been stolen, since I paid the parking fee. After reading the other reviews, good luck if you ever encounter this company. Tried to tow my car WHILE IT WAS RUNNING WITH MY DAUGHTER IN IT as I stood 10 feet away after trying multiple times to get the machine at the lot on King and Burns to work as I was picking up a curbside order from a business that is only accessible from this lot. I yelled when I saw him and told him that my daughter was in there and the, on eco mode, was still on. Did that stop him?? Nope. He told me, exact quote, "if you're not nice to me, I'm not nice to you."
