I was having trouble sleeping, and they prescribed me an Rx *off-label* to try to help. I voiced concerns about the off-label use, but the doctor assured me that it was "low risk, not addictive, and that I could stop taking the medication at any time" and that "at low doses not all of the properties of the Rx are activated". Both of these statements were WRONG - not only did the Rx make my sleep worse, it created an artificial anxiety and other horrible side effects that wreaked havoc on my life. I only took the Rx for less than 3 weeks. During that time I shared my concerns with the Dr. who advised me to keep taking the Rx and even DOUBLE the dose at one point (HORRIBLE advice - see comment about low dose above). I tried taking it as directed, but it made me feel so bad that I had to stop. Dr. again said this was ok to stop immediately without tapering (again, WRONG), which then caused significant side effects from the "withdrawal" even though I only took the Rx a couple weeks. The Rx also severely agitated me among many other side effects for which the risk was never discussed with me. Of course, what does the Dr. advise as the solution? To try MORE meds to counteract the side effects of the previous. So ridiculous. I suspect the business will be quick to to dismiss this review as having a bad reaction to medication. Why I think the Ross Center deserves 1 star is because the doctor did not appropriately educate me about potential side effects, and on multiple occasions gave horrible advice that was just plain wrong and incorrect. It has taken me nearly a year to recover from their negligence. In the end, I spent a ton of $$$ with the Ross Center to make myself much, much worse off. I know it sounds dramatic, but I feel lucky to be alive after the hell they put me through. I requested a refund and they refused, providing a boilerplate response and citing that their care aligned to "services outlined in our agreement". In reality their negligent services included: 1) Prescribing antidepressants *off-label* to someone who is not depressed 2) Suggesting to quadruple the dose of a dangerous medication in less than 24 hours 3) Prescribing drugs/treatment that have known, significant drug interactions and proceeding anyway 4) Actively advising patients to avoid reading about potential side effects 5) Advising a patient to quit a medication cold turkey, without tapering 6) Prescribing more drugs to counteract the significant side effects of previous drugs - trying to get you hooked for life on an "antidepressant train" AVOID THIS BUSINESS

I have received accommodations before in college and provided my previous documentation. The response I received from Farah Assefnia, who works there as administrative office, was very brief, rude, and dismissive -- saying that they don't participate in that kind of service. When I followed up to ask if they have an age limit or don't serve adults, she simply said there is no age limit, however, they won't be able to provide documentation for college accommodations. Farah treated me poorly. Their website mentions "Support Services & Accommodations," so this was very unclear and disappointing. It was never specified if they specialize in accommodations for workplace, college students, high school students, middle school students, or elementary school students. I felt discriminated, disrespected, and dismissed. If they don't offer this service, a polite explanation and a referral to another clinic who has experience providing documentation and accommodations would have been the professional thing to do. I would not recommend this center to anyone who is a person of color, college students, young adults, or disabled individuals looking for support seeking support or accommodations. Farah Assefnia's response showed a complete lack of customer service skills. McLean Counseling Center needs to train their staff better or hire people who know how to treat clients with basic respect. They also need to update their website to specify what "Support Services & Accommodations" actually means.

As an adult who had previously been dismissed and denied evaluation as a teenager, I sought out Dr. Hale specifically because of her expertise evaluating adults and women. My decision to pursue evaluation was prompted after a family member received an ADHD diagnosis, which made me realize I needed an expert who could carefully differentiate overlapping symptoms. From my very first interaction with Dr. Hale, I felt listened to and taken seriously. The process itself was both professional and compassionate. Dr. Hale created a calm, comfortable environment and had clearly reviewed my extensive history in advance. The testing was thorough, well structured, and handled with care throughout. Based on a comprehensive, evidence-based evaluation, I received an adult diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. The diagnosis was clearly grounded in detailed testing and careful history review and reflected a modern, nuanced understanding of how autism can present, particularly in adults and women who've been masking their whole lives. What stood out most was Dr. Hale's skill with differential diagnosis. She thoughtfully navigated overlapping symptoms seen in conditions such as autism, ADHD, BPD, CPTSD, etc. Her thorough approach ruled out several major possibilities and clarified my diagnostic profile, including long-standing co-occurring issues. Since my experience, I have referred two people to Dr. Hale, both of whom went through the same careful evaluation process and reported positive experiences. I highly recommend Dr. Hale and Hope+Wellness to anyone seeking a thoughtful, evidence-based neuropsychological evaluation, especially those navigating the complexities of late diagnosis. I also want to note that the administrative staff who handled my initial intake call and scheduling were incredibly kind and compassionate, which made starting what can be a very difficult process that much easier.

I'd often never hear back from offices when inquiring about their services. Ever since then, the admin side with scheduling and other needs were easy and efficient. I can't overstate how important this is when you're on a mental health journey. I've been going to H&W for several years, most recently working with Dr. Joi. Her name matches her -- she is joy. I always looked forward to our sessions, feeling safe to share and discuss pretty tough topics. I shared some pretty hard things that made me feel really vulnerable and she never showed judgement. She follows up on certain challenges to check-in and works with you to set goals, and talks through set-backs. So don't wait another minute if you need help! This practice could change your life like it did mine.
