I'm writing to thank the manager Ace for answering my phone call and going out of his way to find…read morethe vanilla bean that I couldn't find anywhere else in the Poconos. This was a long drive and well worth it. Wegman's and is a magical FOOD OASIS! Jocelyn at the Customer Service counter had my order waiting when I got there and was super friendly and kind. This store is cleaner than any grocery store I go to and stocked completely. I love all the gorgeous Landscaping in the parking lot and honor this company's commitment to the environment as well as the aesthetics of a beautiful shopping experience. Thank you to Ace and the team!

Either way, I wanted to visit this grocery store and it was a good stop. It seems like a high-quality store, but the prices weren't unreasonable. In part I wanted to stop just to check it out but when I learned that Pennsylvania is the snack food capital of the country, that sealed the deal. They have an extensive bakery with lots of stuff, including some that I don't tend to see at a grocery store bakery, like the macarons that I picked up here. They also sell fudge, another unlikely grocery find. It's a grocery store, so of course they have what you're expecting to find, but their chip aisle did seem extensive. Or maybe that it's just that I've never seen flavors like honey jalapeño and others before. The staff was friendly and efficient. Shopping was pleasant. If I lived in the area this would be my go-to grocery store.

We stopped at this Turkey Hill for drinks and ice cream. This was the very first time I had ever been to visit them and my first time ever in Jim Thorpe. I am 55 years old and have worked in retail and food service my whole life and I was shocked by how rude and unprofessional the woman working at the register was to all of us. There were 2 signs on the freezer doors advertising a buy one get one free for the Turkey Hill ice cream, so they were excited to get a 2nd ice cream (peach, which I hate), but when we walking up to the counter, the employee that was there, Betty, saw that my daughter had one of the special ones and told her that that ice cream wasn't part of the sale. My daughter went back and picked out another ice cream and when Betty was ringing everything up, she informed them that the sale was no longer going on and asked my daughter if she wanted the other one instead (?). Not wanting to cause a scene, they decided to buy both anyway, even though they had budgeted only a certain amount. I went back and looked at the 2 signs on the freezer doors and they did not have dates on them so I took the signs off the doors and put them on the counter for her, thinking that that was being helpful since the sale was no longer going on. She argued with me that it was "not her, it was the boss" and then complained to the next customer as I was walking out that I had taken down her signs. Jim Thorpe is beautiful, and I will absolutely go visit again, but I will never stop at this Turkey Hill again.
