The reviews are all true. Wedding was in 2021 and silence after. Several emails begging for grace and additional time. It took getting a lawyer involved to get our photos. We requested the raw images so we could get them edited. The photos are pretty but it took a year to get them!!! Unforgivable for the most important day of my life. Jimmy was the photographer for our wedding in 06/2021. A week after the wedding we got a handful of teasers. Received an email about health problems, then there was radio silence. Offered to find a separate person to edit photos if the raw files were provided and extract editing fees from original amount paid. No response. Threatened with arbitration. Photo files provided on 01/2022 (6 months later) which exceeded the 6-8 week deadline on contract. Never received an album. Photos received were good, but photographer was not able to follow through on commitments. read more

We had some interesting family dynamics and he rolled with it and made sure to get the pictures we wanted in racing against an early February sunset. WARNING-! He takes your money, wedding photos and disappears!! If I could give him a zero, I would. Little response for 4 mths after our wedding and then dead silence. After our wedding he completely disappeared and stopped responded to emails and texts and calls. I went over 6 MONTHS without a single word from him and no pictures. I saw online he got a job as a photography teacher and tracked down his school email to contact him then I suddenly started getting responses of "you'll have them next week." Which of course I didn't. After non stop emails, calls and texts, I finally got my pictures after 9 months of waiting. And while they're lovely and I'm happy with them, they certainly aren't the magical photos advertised on his website, which was the reason we paid so much for him. I also never got my album that I paid for, and it's now been over a year since my wedding. He had me select the photos for the album, then disappeared again. At one point he told me he was having health issues and canceled all his 2022 weddings, but I've found other brides online with weddings he shot in 2022 that are fighting for their pictures, so that was clearly a lie. read more

I can't believe there are only 8 reviews of Jimmy. I guess maybe he's just what we would call a "hidden gem" in the photography world. As much as I'd love to be one of the only few who gets the privilege of having their wedding photos taken by Jimmy, that would just be too selfish. We hired Jimmy for our Nov 2015 wedding and we couldn't have been more happy. Not only is he extremely creative, he is super laid back and a true professional at what he does. He was always quick to respond to emails and made us feel comfortable in front of the camera (even for my husband who particularly does not like taking photos). I would say that Jimmy is not the typical wedding photographer. These days, anyone can take a picture with a nice camera but how many people can actually make it look like a piece of art that you'd actually want to hang up in your living room? Jimmy can! I really could go on and on about how great Jimmy was. I browsed his portfolio and loved his work. My husband and I are photography snobs and Jimmy's work was perfect. And yet, somehow, our wedding album was even better than I could have ever imagined. We knew that our budget wedding could not afford not to have amazing photography. It's all you have after the day has come and gone. And amazing photography can make a budget wedding look like a million bucks. I opted not to hire a friend, who is a wedding photographer herself. This is a very late review but one much earned! My husband and I hired Jimmy for our wedding in December 2012. We met with Jimmy and his wife (who handles his business matters) in August of 2012 and they were both very easy to work with. Along with our wedding package we had an engagement session and added videography. Jimmy made us feel completely comfortable and at ease for the engagement shoot. He was flexible with us and took amazing photos in Balboa Park, San Diego. We received the engagement pictures very quickly and were done beautifully. On our wedding day, Jimmy had two assistants with him. They were on time, professional, and made us feel at ease. Throughout the day he was everywhere and captured all the moments we wanted on picture and film. Jimmy Bui is a man of vision. If he can make me look damn good on camera, he can definitely make anyone look great. I had to have some creative photos taken of me for business/work. We had a look at some photographers work but Jimmy's work really caught our attention. We had our session booked and even though the drive to his studio took more than an hour - it was definitely worth it. Jimmy was an absolute professional. He shared his vision and what he can see when he took the photos. I've had my fair share of experience behind the camera but had no idea what to do in front of the camera - he directed me on the poses and the shots, from what I have seen so far, has been amazing. The lighting, the camera work, the poses - awesome. Since the photo-shoot was only done a few days ago, I haven't actually seen the final edited photoshopped version. Jimmy did our engagement photos and our wedding photos (this past Saturday!). From our first meeting until our final portrait shot, Jimmy was a joy to work with. He is a truly talented artist who knows how to work with his subjects to get the most amazing shots possible. Our engagement photos were stunning, and I can't wait to see our wedding photos. I'm not one who writes reviews so please believe me when I say proceed with caution. Over a year ago my fiancé and I purchased Jimmy's services. He failed to deliver on our engagement shoot. Not only did he botch the permit needed for the shoot, he admitted that he completely dropped the ball. I didn't feel comfortable trusting him with our wedding based on this experience. We cancelled his services and he promised he would give us 100% of our deposit back. Despite promising 100%, he essentially promised 50% up front and made the last 50% continent on rescheduling his shooters. As many of us know, it's pretty standard for a retainer but I trusted he would follow through on his promise. After trying to negotiate a fair timeframe for payment since October 2018, I ultimately signed the cancellation contract January 2019 to at least recover 50% of my money back. Despite signing the cancellation contact in January, I have yet to see a dime of my money. Our wedding is in May 2019. Jimmy has stopped responding to our calls and messages. Based on his social media, he is leaving the photography business in 2020. read more
