I forgot how much I like Jimmy John's sandwiches. Overall, this was an OK experience. The shop in located downtown Charleston, and I did have some difficulites finding street parking, but found a spot after a bit. I ordered the #7 Spicy East Coast Italian sandwich combo. The sandwich had double salami, double capocollo, provolone, Jimmy Peppers, oil & vinegar, onion, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and seasonings (Mike's Way). The combo included salt and vinegar kettle chips and a diet coke. The service was good, but the food prep/kitchen area looked a mess. I am hoping due to the rush but had me questioning the cleaniess. Additionally, the bathrooms weren't clean maybe because due to being downtown and high foot traffic. I did enjoy the food and sat the window and watched people and the traffic go by. OK I waited a while before I wrote this survey to calm down. I have a very limited timeframe for lunch, so I opted to get Jimmy Johns delivered. I haven't been in this office very long and with my job I tend to move around and I have had great experience with Jimmy Johns in the past. So, I was comfortable with my order. I placed my order online and noted that I needed the delivery person to be at my locked facility door at 1pm. I was upset because I was a little late about 1:03pm and I hated the fact that I had made them wait for me. I knew that they had other orders to deliver. So, I hurried down the 25 steps to the door. No Jimmy Johns!!! So, I went outside to wait, after about 6 minutes I was worried I missed them so I called the story. The lady employee seemed very lost so I asked for the manager who was extremely rude. I explained my lunch time crunch time and he said Well we are always waiting for customers see how it feels? I was taken back about that comment but still wanted my food. He said the lady delivery driver was on the way, I waited another 10 minutes...no longer on my lunch!!! On my company time and very upset. She finally arrived at 1:20pm and seemed oblivious to the fact she was late or even cared that she was late. She didn't have my entire order so I cancelled the rest. She said she had to take all the money for the whole order, I could wait for the additional food or get a refund later on but she couldn't give partial order and refunds..I said YOU WERE the one that was delivering a partial order! I called back to the restaurant and again the rude manager so I contacted corporate. I have yet to hear anything!! So, I refuse to eat there. I ate there at Daytona Beach. It was great before my walk to the beach. Both the food and service was great.

Unwhich - Surprised about the quality given the fast casual style. Tried the unwhich for the first time and was pleasantly surprised how filling the sandwhich was as well as healthy. It's chain sub shop. Does the trick. I like the bread but always forget to have them cut it in half. Why is that a thing to remember? Just cut the dang sub in half? I wish WV allowed sprouts because the sprouts just make the sandwiches way better imo. I stayed in the Holiday Inn Express on Civic Center Drive while traveling. I was hungry but didn't want to go back out. Jimmy Johns really hot the spot! Online ordering was easy and I like the tracker so I could tell when my order was out for delivery. The sandwich was fresh, delicious, and wrapped nicely. I'm surprised by the amount of negative reviews for this location. I often have negative experiences where others have nothing but glowing praise. I guess the shoe is now on the other foot. I like subs, but never had any desire to visit a Jimmy Johns. My wife loves Jimmy Johns and kept trying to get me to try them out. I finally relented and was pleasantly surprised. The staff is always pleasant, which is a big thing for me. The food isn't the whole of the dining experience. Food is a lot more palatable when you don't have a bad taste in your mouth from bad service. The bread here is great. We were told it comes from Charleston Bread, which apparently makes a difference since the other Jimmy Johns has subpar bread and claims to make it in house (It's funny, they are both probably owned by the same person, so I'm not sure why they would do things differently when they're located so close together.) The meats and veggies also tasted very fresh. I'm not a big tomato fan, but I actually like them on JJ's sandwiches. Got stuck with food from here a lot when I worked for National Travel since it was so close to our office. It's like Subway, but gross. The bacon in particular was alarming and revolting to me since it tasted a little like munching on something meant to be bacon but actually plastic. The bread is generally a little too far on the hard side of chewy and the toppings are just not the best. If I'm starving, I'll go here again, but that'd be about it. read more

I stopped at this place on my way down south. We had stopped at this particular Jimmy Johns before. I have stopped many times at Jimmy Johns over the last year. I like the sandwiches. So I am not basing my stop on the system. First of all when we ended the store the music was blasting some rock music. The sound was to the point where we had to raise our voices to be heard and this caused some trouble. We ordered three subs but were only given one. When we began to ask for the other two subs it seemed no one was able to communicate the problem. Of course not because the music was too loud for anyone to hear or understand each other. After a lot of excess trouble we finally received our food. Funny how some one of the brainless three in the back finally turned the music down. If you have ever been to a JJ you would know the person taking the order next to the people making sandwiches. Most times the orders are verbally told and followed. Especially if the place is dead. As it was when I went into this store. The people at the counter blamed the problem on the register tape but that was not the complete reason. I hate having to say it since I play my music loud, when alone however. When I brought up the music as the trouble the counter morons wanted to argue it. That is fine with me. I know now I will never go back to this JJ and I will never again drive out of my way to stop at one again. This last experience has turned me off on the franchise. It's a chain sandwich shop and absolutely fine at that. Fine place for a fast lunch or relatively late night dinner. It could be cleaner - half-star drooped for the clutter and general sloppiness - and the staff could be a bit friendlier ( but I was a surly food service twentysomething so no points off there). I went in tonight to get a quick sandwich because I had very little time and needed something fast. When I went in there and put myself in front of the register the cashier started talking to the woman in back of me for about 30 seconds before he even acknowledge that I was there. Bad customer service. Then after I got my sandwich and took it back to the hotel and started eating it I found out they were hot peppers in it. I did not order any hot peppers. I used to love ordering from here, what with the great food, fast delivery, and easy ordering. But lately its been strike-out after strike-out. Today my sandwich didn't even have all its ingredients on it, they never remember the mustard packets, and if you ask for it to be cut in half, don't expect for it to be done. A great find nestled in downtown Charleston. Parking wasn't too challenging- check out the spots by the river about a block away. Staff was friendly and the seating area was nice and roomy (booths lined up down a hallway as in some other Jimmy John's). My favorite is the Totally Tuna. It's totally tasty! read more

Very rude employees! I order there a lot at work, well today I was told that it is out of range and that I must be mistaken and no one ever delivered there to me before. I asked for a manager not once, but three times and every time was told no. I emailed a complaint to the main website. I explained the whole thing of what happened. I get an email back saying sorry that is out of range and that the employees that delivered were wrong. I told her in my email if it's out of range then it's out of range, but the rudeness was uncalled for. Not once did she say anything about the rudeness. All I was told was they will be retrained about the distance. Never going back to any JJ's again. read more

On 4/9/13 my husband and I ordered our first ever Jimmy John's and were delighted when they were able to deliver a gallon of sweet tea to our hotel room. On 4/10/13 we decided to order again and we were told that only catered customers were allowed to purchase a gallon of tea by the manager Jason. I would have actually paid more than the previous $5.00 a gallon just to have the tea but Jason was firm with not allowing us to purchase a gallon. We instead purchased 2 large cups with no ice. I would give it Zero Stars if I could. This place is beyond awful. We called in and asked if they were delivering, because we just went through a nasty snowstorm. They said yes, they were. We placed our order, gave the hotel address and room number. They charged our card for the sandwiches. An hour later, no food. I called to find out why, the manager says "Oh, you are outside our delivery area." that would have been something to tell us BEFORE we ordered. We will get our money back, and I know the refund time is not the store's fault. The manager, Nate, was a total jackass. I honestly think he could not have been any more of a douche about the situation. He said that they tried to call, but the phone never rang. He said "I was standing next to him when he called. He just didn't leave a message." Who calls someone to tell them that they can't deliver their order and doesn't leave a message? Then Nate yells at my wife, saying "If it's that big of a deal, come to the store. I'll feed you!" Had he not done that, I may have written this off as just a bad day. I had a surprisingly similar visit to some of the other posters (wish I had read the reviews before I went and saved myself the trouble). Terrible customer service. Inattentive staff, had to wait to order, even though no one was in front of me and they weren't busy. Music so loud the staff couldn't hear me and I couldn't hear them. Got food, but not without serious issue. At one point they tried to refund part of my order because the drinking fountain wasn't working- and claimed that they refunded all of it (we couldn't communicate because the music was too loud) and then were reluctant to give me the food I had paid for. At no point did they seem kind, apologetic, or even remotely embarrassed at how incompetent they were- nor did they ever stop to turn down the music so they could actually hear me. Food was fine, but nothing to write home about. But the staff is completely unprofessional- probably won't go to another Jimmy Johns again (this was my first time) and I definitely won't frequent this one again ever. There are better places in Charleston (with much better customer service). Also this is not a kid friendly place (and they serve sandwiches, I'd think it would be!) read more
