However, when I arrived a little after 8:00 PM, the doors were locked. Yet, I could see multiple customers inside the lobby actively eating. I called the restaurant and was told that the lobby closes at 8:00 PM, despite the signage and online listings showing a 9:00 PM close time. This is incredibly misleading for customers who rely on accurate information when making dining decisions. There was no signage indicating a separate lobby closing time, and no communication online or in person that the dining room closes earlier than the restaurant itself. If the lobby closes at 8:00 PM, that should be clearly stated both online and on the physical premises. Otherwise, it gives the impression that customers are simply being locked out arbitrarily while others are allowed to stay inside. Why This Is a Problem: 1. False Advertising & Consumer Misrepresentation: Under the Kansas Consumer Protection Act (KCPA), it is considered deceptive to advertise goods or services with the intent not to sell them as advertised. If KFC posts that the restaurant closes at 9:00 PM--including the dine-in option--but locks the doors at 8:00 PM without notice, that could be seen as a form of consumer deception. 2. Inconsistent Customer Experience: Seeing others eating inside while being denied entry is both frustrating and discriminatory in perception. It suggests selective access or poor operational transparency. 3. Business Accountability: If a restaurant chooses to close early, they should at least update their signage or online hours to reflect that, or have a clearly visible note stating the dining room closes early.

It was 8:40 at this point, KFC closes at 9. They were still open for another 20 minutes. It's not like I came through at 8:59. There is no excuse for this behavior. I have worked in the fast food industry, I understand that it is annoying when customers come in right before close but I still served them! BUT, I came through when there was still another 20 minutes before close, PLUS a worker noticed me and I was still ignored.
