Gosh, what a normally good place to eat. The new owners have all but transformed the place. Very popular, and rightfully so. Its family run with the matriarch firmly managing the business. The organization should be proud of their accomplishments. However, my disabled wife and (I am also disabled veteran) were greeted at the counter and because we read on their website today was that apple, walnut salad was the special. The response was "NO SPECIAL TODAY " I suspect she naturally loud when speaks, but I mistook it for being annoyed with question. She asked for our food and drink order. We have difficulty standing so we told her we would get seated and get the order figured out. We figured it out and signaled twice to the staff chatting behind bar that were ready to order. The owner finally came over and loudly explain thar the only way to order was going to the counter, where the staff was chatting. I I didn't understand why several idle staff and after she walked to our table, she would not take our order. Again explaining our handicaps, and because she was right there, I asked if she could take our order while she was there. She became terse and refused. Her rule was customers have to order it from (her) at the counter. THEN, her staff be happy to fix the meals as well as delivering them and drinks to the table. Additionally after our meal the staff would be happy to accept desert orders at the table ( no need to go the counter.) Also refresh our drinks at the table. We left without ordering and I ask why the ower wouldn't honor disabled in need, and why she was terse over where we located to give our order, especially since every visible employee was idly conversing. It especially confounds me the owner would come to the table solely to explain why she would not take our order. So much ADA accommodations. Maybe it's time for a conversation with Wichita. read more

We had a late lunch here, both getting the Speciality Burger and they were huge!! And delicious. Also had onion rings which were good a chocolate shake. We were not disappointed. Definitely recommend trying. read more

This was a place I've wanted to try for a while now. I got there about 11:50 am, there was only one other customer. When I left there were about 10-12 customers. There were only two people working. It took me 25 minutes to receive my burger and fries. It's not a smash style burger, but a normal 1/3 pound pattie. I ordered it to go, a single hamburger with grilled mustard, pickle and GRILLED onions. I did not receive grilled onions, I got raw onions. The bun was dry and the service was slow. They were understaffed... I knocked off a star for service. The burger itself is maybe 3 stars but no higher. I don't understand why this place has an average of 4.5 stars, I've had many burgers much better than this. The fries were pretty good but they didn't include any ketchup. As far as ambiance, it's basically the typical little hole in the wall, it has some games for the kiddos as it's located next to the high school in Towanda. A friend sent an online news article about this place. They just opened on 8/24/17, so we had to check it out. We were not disappointed! The burgers are fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection. The fries are sales just enough, with s crisp crunch like a French fry should have. The drink is HUGE! My special burger had a generously sliced tomato and equally portioned lettuce. The bun was soft, fresh, not soggy. There was just enough grease to let you know the burger is fresh without being overwhelmingly greasy. We enjoyed every bite. We ate outside, at a wooden table . Went to the Thunderbird grill the last time I was in Wichita visiting family. I heard that everything on the menu was good but the double cheeseburger is their signature item. The staff was very friendly and if I could give 10 stars they really deserve it. If you have not tried the Thunderbird grill you are missing out on one of the best burgers in the area. It's only about a 15 - 20 minute or so trip outside of Wichita. If you are reading this and want to experience good food, good people and good service which is hard to find these days. I highly recommend checking them out. read more

This is by far the best hamburger shop in towanda. It is also the only one. My experiences at the restaurant have been very inconsistent. One day I have some amazing food and then the next I am very underwhelmed by the seasoning. Catfish Friday was excellent. I called in our order and was very impressed with the helpful attitude of the young lady who took our order. They were very busy when we arrived, but took care of me quickly. We had the catfish dinner, a cheese burger, fried okra, onion rings, and cinnamon rolls for breakfast. It was all excellent. We took our order to go, but there's lots of outdoor seating at picnic tables. read more

This small town cafe has a short menu which translates into relative ease in food selection. Reading a menu the length of a novella results in anxiety and stress over whether or not I made the right choice. The problem worsens when the table next to me gets their food and it looks so much better than what I ordered that I immediately experience choice regret. It all results in a not so pleasant dining experience. My mother and I were traveling home from from a basketball tournament in Maize. We were looking for a place to eat and didn't want to go to any of the regular fast food joints. We are so glad we happened across Thunderbird on Yelp! The burgers and onion rings were fantastic! To make things even better the staff were exceptionally friendly!
