There's really not a huge difference between the two, as long as you're not a rabid crab/frog leg fan (which we are not). There's green beans, mashed potatoes, pan-fried chicken... just like you remember Grandma making them. In fact, this whole place kind of smells like Grandma's. I tried the loaded tots and tenderloin. The tots were crisp, but not over cooked. There was adequate cheese and bacon on top of the tots, but not so much that they made the tots mushy. Too often restaurants pride themselves with "a tenderloin as big as your head", but this is accomplished by beating the tenderloin so thin that it's as thin as a sheet of notebook paper. The Maplewood tenderloin was breaded, thick and juicy. It is a little bigger than the bun, and you can load with toppings as you please. It was great surprise is now in my top 5 in the state! Jay's always has what we need including live minnows. They also have some displays of artificial lures and jigs for purchase. The folks that work there are always very friendly and helpful. They also have a good menu in the restaurant side of the business. We are always in very early so I have had the breakfast sandwiches and then I have been there in the afternoon and had the hand dipped ice cream. Both of which are very good. In addition they also have beer, wine, and liquor that you can have with your meal or you can carry it out. They also have bags of ice and we stop in and get them often to ice down our fish as we leave the lake. If you have not been into Jay's or Brookville Lake give it a shot it is a fun place to go.
