I located a YouTube video that described a problem similar to mine, based on mice damage, and a similar vehicle. When I sent the video via messenger to the owner of this business, his reply was "this is a different issue, you can fix it yourself or trust us to do it." After having my truck for a month the owner informed me that it was a computer programming problem and the dealer would have to fix it. The dealer found the problem within one hour and it was in fact a wire chewed by a mouse pretty much where the video I had sent described. The dealer had no issue fixing it. 517 Automotive set on my vehicle for a month, charged me $270 to do nothing, and I was unable to diagnose and fix a relatively simple problem, even when given good information how to do so. Very bad business practices and very inapt mechanical abilities. Not a real business, and certainly not a good mechanic.

They installed it and said it now pulls left and right when you accelerate which never happened before. I immediately could tell the alignment is clearly off as you can see in the photo (steering wheel is straight) they told me they did align it and get get the sheet. they also said something else might be wrong and to bring it back if I want them to figure it out. So I drove it down the road and found it drives worse than ever, swaying like crazy and jolting my wheel with every bump, I immediately brought it back upset, and said "it drives 5 times worse than before" NOT BLAMING ANYONE JUST STATING THE FACT and the rude old lady of a manager decided I was insulting her and her business for bringing it back and telling her it doesn't drive right WHICH SHE TOLD ME TO DO, and she had the audacity to get aggressive with me, standing up getting out of her chair pointing her finger at me. I tell her not to get aggressive with me and she has the audacity to say I'm being aggressive as she now gets in my face yelling at me finger in my face. All I wanted was to bring it back and have it figured out what was wrong now. Absolutely ridiculous and terrible business. I've worked in customer service for 10 years, being cussed at and chewed out and even when that happened I've never treated a customer that way. I wasn't being rude to you until you decided to treat me like that. Awful and you should be ashamed.

Short Review: When…read moreI someday move out of Lansing this will be one of the places I expect to have the hardest time replacing in a new city. Friendly staff, quality service and repair, phenomenal customer service, and rides to and from surrounding area if you need to leave your car for a bit. Long Review: I've been living in the greater Lansing area for a few years now, and have a somewhat older car (12 years/140,000+ miles at the time of this review). I've been to a number of auto mechanics throughout the area, and never really felt attached to any one of them until I started going to East Lansing Auto. East Lansing Auto used to be on Grand River Ave, just east of Hobby Lobby. This was particularly nice in terms of getting to campus - if you need to drop your car off they will give you a lift to and from MSU. They are now located just up Abbot/Chandler Rd, and still give rides to and from MSU. I can't speak for other destinations, but I would imagine that they also give rides to and from other places within reason. The staff are great, and you'll basically only ever run into one of two people working the front desk. They will learn your name and your car fairly quickly and make you feel right at home. They are always very upfront about diagnosis and repair, and put in effort to ensure you understand (if you want to) what's wrong with your car and what they're going to do to fix it. I've learned more about cars since I started going to East Lansing Auto than I ever thought I needed to. Prices are the price of auto repair. If you are headed to an auto mechanic there's probably something wrong with your car, and it's probably going to cost you a bit of money. They are no worse than any other mechanic in town, in my experience, and they also always give you options on different manufacturers' parts (when it is an option). East Lansing Auto is also the only auto mechanic I've ever been to that was willing to admit (and resolve) their own mistakes. A few summers ago I went in with an intermittent noise coming from under the hood. They diagnosed it as a problem with a part of the air conditioning system, and I had them replace it. A day or so later I received a call that the air conditioning system had been replaced but the noise hadn't stopped. I was a bit upset, but they reassured me that they would keep troubleshooting, and since the replacement of the A/C was a product of their misdiagnosis that it would be at no charge to me. The problem eventually turned out to be a broken flywheel in the transmission, which they fixed with no other problems. These days I even bring my car to East Lansing Auto for oil changes, which are actually cheaper than some of the 'oil change only' shops. They also give your car a good once over while in there and will alert you to anything that might be going wrong. If you're looking for a good mechanic in the Greater Lansing area, give them a try.

I dropped my car off the night before as I work during his hours and received a call after just a couple hours of the shop being open. Tony informed me that there was nothing wrong with my car at all and he could not see a leak that the other place had be speaking to. He said he could keep my car and continue to do tests throughout the day including a drive test. He never found anything wrong with me car so I was 100% scammed by this other place and Tony saved the day. Tony saved me $1,000 in repairs on something that did not need to be repaired and was very honest about the whole process and called me every couple hours as he could tell I was very nervous since I had just been scammed by another place. I needed new tires and he got me an AMAZING deal on tires and charged very little for installation and got rid of my old (very beat up) tires for me for free. Found on yelp. 1st thing they did was a complete car inspection charging me $100. They then decided it was my oil sensor, but it wasn't, that was $200. They flushed the break system on my approval for $100 but only took the fluid from reservoir and replaced. When this place says flush, its just a reservoir fluid replacement; beware. The manager quoted $1999, I agreed but after he started said he needed another $225 for gaskets, he took $100 off. Overall, the Oil Pump work finally completed was done well thus far, but getting there was expensive and deceptive.
