The food definitely reminds you of home made fried chicken! Not overly seasoned but just the right amount. Got the twelve piece drumettes and wingettes or flats if you prefer. They were very large! Ordered fries as well but wished I hadn't after seeing the size of the chicken. This could have been a shared plate. My sister got the two piece dark plate. Definitely was filling for her. Prices are decent and portions are generous. Everything was hot, fresh and was cooked to order. You go up to the counter and order your food. There is a board on top the counter with specials of the day. They had three Saturday. The ladies (there were two) checked on us a few times and were very friendly. It's a small place with about twelve tables if not more with four chairs and they have booths. Restroom is unisex and super clean!!! Had to wash my hands after eating. Stopped by here during an overnight stay in area. During our half hour stay there was continuous customers coming thru door. You order at counter from menu board and they deliver to table. My wife ordered the fried shrimp, mac-n-cheese and corn which she enjoyed. we were passing thru the area and stumbled on Jim's. we were headed to Kanopolis Lake to kayak the Smoky Hill River and hike Horse ThiefCanyon. both of us ordered the fried chicken dinner special for takeout. they were busy and it took a little while, but the food was fantastic. so good. that on our way back to KC, we called ahead and put in our order so that the food would be ready. we picked it up and ate it at a rest stop. it was just as good as the first time. this place is awesome and I'll make it a point to stop there on my future trips to Colorado. 5 stars isn't enough! read more

I have had the pork Tender and the chicken fried steak as well and I recommend both. The cinnamon rolls are the absolute best! The place is always clean and the staff are very friendly. Sign said Onions and Gravy yesterday so having no breakfast, I sure could go for a late Lunch so I headed in. The iced tea was spoiled that I was served so the young girl had to brew new, had her to taste test What they were serving, she didn't like spoiled tea either..... Got my food, it was a nice serving and knew I would be taking home my dinner in a leftover box, Or at least I thought... I went to the restroom to pee, Took my purse and to my surprise when I came out, GIRL HAD CLEARED MY TABLE, FOOD AND TEA NOW GONE... I went to Jim's a half hour before closing and was prepared to get dried out chicken that had been waiting all night and sub par sides. I was amazed. The chicken was moist and juicy with a crisp slightly crunchy breading. It was not greasy at all. Now I consider myself a mashed potatoes and gravy guy and that is what is going to bring me back. The potatoes had the perfect amount of salt already added to them. That is my personal pet peeve. Adding salt on top of mashed potatoes is no where near as good. An added bonus was being able to order an all white meat platter. I don't like thighs and legs and I am will to pay the extra $1.50 for that. The price was right on also - $10 for a 3 piece dinner platter. People might throw things at me but I rather eat here than the Brookville Hotel. The chicken was just as good.
