This review is for dinner in the dining room for two on a Saturday in mid-August before a show at the Stiefel Theatre. service: Chloe was our waitress and she was just great. Enthusiastic, informed, and encouraging. She has an encyclopedic knowledge of the kitchen and bar. We must have interacted with a dozen folks: hosts, food runners, sommelier, and managers. Everyone was unfailing polite and professional. bar: I drank a Bulleit Rye Manhattan ($11) and my wife had a Grey Goose Cosmo ($13). Both were strong showings of those two classic cocktails. I followed up with a Boulevard Single Wide IPA bottle ($6) and was thrilled to see that old reliable. food: Service begins with exceptional bread and complimentary Baba Ghanoush. The menu described my wife's Pappardelle Bolognese ($25) as having, "mean mule Bolognese sauce." Have never seen the term, mean mule, but this version appeared to incorporate some cream. My 5 oz. Salmon Piccata ($25) with broccolini, asparagus, and rice was very good. We finished with Ultimate Chocolate Cake ($16) and - as the menu describes - it really is for two persons or take-home. It was my birthday and the restaurant graciously comped my dessert, which was extremely nice. details: This is a large, bustling, bright restaurant with choice of inside, outside, and bar seating. Reservations are highly recommended, at least for busy times. We parked on the street and even on Saturday night with a show at the Stiefel Theatre we had no problems. read more

What a beautiful gem right in the plains of Kansas, you find this great restaurant and really cute town of Salina, Kansas. I travel for work so I'm always checking out new spots in love trying new places. They offer outside patio and inside dining as well as bar seating. The restaurant is very clean on the outside the inside and the surrounding areas. The bathrooms were very clean. They have table cloths that are changed after each customer. The decor is welcoming and feels fancy. My server was very sweet. She was kind. She explained everything. She offered her suggestions when I asked for advice, but she did also have her own recommendations, which I appreciated. She was an attentive to my needs. She also just converse with me as a regular person which I enjoyed. It wasn't just about the menu. The food was great. I had a side salad, my main course was a fillet with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and I tried the butter cake. To drink I got the pear mule with cinnamon. No complaints whatsoever. The salad was the freshest salad. I've had in a while, and I love the fact that it was not out of a bag.. the fillet was perfect. The mashed potatoes were perfect and dessert. The butter cake was phenomenal. My short visit here in Salina Kansas has been great and I thoroughly enjoyed eating at this great restaurant in a small town. read more

I had the spinach salad which is served with baby spinach, spiced walnuts, dried cranberries, gorgonzola, cranberry sage vinaigrette. It was light, yummy and refreshing. As my main, I opted for the penne carbonara which was served with roasted chicken, sweet peas, caramelized onions, crispy bacon, parmesan and black pepper garlic cream. This dish was fabulous and my absolute favorite carbonara in a long time! The restaurant is decorated nicely, it's clean and spacious and the staff was great. It was an unexpected treat to find YaYas in Salina, Kansas. The food was excellent across the board. The Mezza and the Bolognese were the clear stars of the evening, though the ravioli and shrimp risotto should not be overlooked. Service was equally impressive--Eaton was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly committed to doing a great job. Went there as a group. They seated us pretty quick. They were not super busy. Liked the overall feel; elegant. They forgot the calamari we ordered; brought late after we reminded them. My angel hair pasta dish was good, but the beef Carpaccio was lukewarm. My folks were not impressed so much. Maybe next time we will try some other dishes. read more

My dad and I had lunch at YaYa's when I flew into Salina. Darius was our server and he took great care of us. The bread was some of the best I've ever had. The baba ganoush was wonderful. I ordered the half salad, half sandwich. The Bill's chicken salad and C.B.S. sandwich were great. My dad is a picky eater and he loved the salmon piccata. This place is really cool! We eat Greek salads wich tasted great but I've eaten a lot of Greek salads so I thought it lacked a little bit of authenticity. Yayas is a fine restaurant, but I've never found its food especially exciting. And it is very overpriced. The service is usually ok, but not overwhelmingly good. It is a typical hotel restaurant with booths and tables that somehow feels more like a diner than a "fine-dining" establishment. My mother swears by their 1/2 roasted chicken. Last time I was there I got a steak. It was trimmed weirdly into a rectangular prism and served on unseasoned corn. There was nothing else that came with it. read more

Definitely a place to go if you're near Salina. In a. quiet dining room, a white tablecloth, excellent service, outstanding food, and cocktails were a delight. The 1987 (smokey scotch on the rocks) and mushroom toast were a perfect start for a cool fall evening. The entrees were both delicious. read more

Outstanding!!! After driving for much of the day then working this was quite the place to end the day! We started out with Crab Cakes & Gnocchi for our appetizers! Wow - Crab Cakes were phenomenal!! The best was yet to come. Everyone in the group order the 8 oz Filet Migon. None of the group was disappointed. A prefectly cooked steak topped with Blue Cheese crumbles. A fantastic steak with silky mashed potatoes along with green beans compliment the meal! We all also had a fantastic server and was right there when we needed something! Very disappointed. Came here for lunch yesterday to have a holiday lunch with family, I don't get much time off work, so the very little bit of time I have with family I cherish. We were sat in the very back booth in the coldest part of the restaurant, why? I do not understand, there were many other booths available. The food was very disappointing, my pork chop was undercooked, my daughter's salad had very little or no dressing, etc. The Manager walked by and went out of her way to not make eye contact. We were pleasantly greeted and quickly seated. Very nice interior decor that ranges from a casual to cozy. We decided to sit in the bar area, and our server was the bartender who was exceptionally attentive. Street parking is free and convenient to the restaurant which is located inside of the Homewood Suites in the downtown. We immediately received complementary and delicious hummus with bread and were informed that all of the small bites were on Happy Hour pricing until 6 PM. (Score!). There's a full bar with an extensive wine menu and beers both on top and in. bottles. There is a varied menu which is Farms to table that includes many vegetarian options. We enjoyed the calamari which was cooked to perfection, the roasted cauliflower which was delicious, and the toasted beet salad which was super fresh and light. Stopped in because we had a gift card from my wife's workplace. Saying I was surprised is an understatement. The staff - very friendly and accommodating. Each person we spoke with was helpful without being over the top. Appetizers - best calamari I've ever had. Mushroom were a delicious surprise. Worked great with my steak. The bread is so light and delicious by itself self. Main Course - my wife's fish (can't remember which one it was. Red snapper I think). Much more than expected but flavorful and light. The entire plate was balanced and she loved the green mint sauce too. Ribeye was larger than expected also. Perfect cook. Fat to meat ratio is on point. Side were very good. Star is the steak. My son's lasagna here was much more than expected. Flavor in the marinara is deep. So much happening and it all works. Even a slight heat on the back side. I didn't try any more than that but he loved it. Pricing - yep it's more than some places. What you get for the increased is a better meal, great staff who seem to care, and plenty of food for the price. We will return here and try more off the menu. Honestly one of the top 10 restaurants i have been to in my 57 years of life. Started out at the bar, drinks were generous pours, bartender friendly, happy hour prices were great. Was there for my birthday with my family. Service was great. Prices great. Food outstanding. The babaganoush served with the bread was SOOOOOO good. Endless also. Entrees were great. I had bolognese, my kids had carbonaara and my wife had trout. All excellent. And the dessert, OMG, get the butter cake. Doesn't sound like much, but.....wow......incredible. Nice place! The service was great! The atmosphere was perfect. I got the house chicken soup. It was very good although it needed some extra flavor so I added black pepper & it was fine. For dinner I ordered the half/half for $44. I got the Shrimp risotto and the ribeye with the potatoes. The chefs vegetable was Brussel sprouts. Everything was great. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was slightly overcooked. I'm not a big fan of Brussel sprouts but they were pretty good! read more

On a road trip home looking for a dinner spot & found this gem through yelp, what a treat! Incredibly delicious, beautiful environment, so glad we stopped in. They bring out warm bread with baba ganoush, an absolute dream. We ended up ordering the shrimp appetizer (delightful!) with pappardelle beef ragu (YES!), and the only negative was having to narrow down everything that sounded great on the menu. Our server Tony was fantastic, offered helpful insight on the offerings here and packed the best bread & ganoush road trip snack plate.
