I pass by this garden shop often on the way home. Usually it's closed and I only get to enjoy the front section on the street. Today it was open and I was able to explore the back. There is every type of vegetable, herb, spring flowering plant, and shrub that you could ever want. A staff member guided me to the cucumbers, which is all I'm missing in my garden. Picked up some marigolds to hopefully keep the critters away. The prices are exceptional. $2.39 for the small four pack flats of anything. That's Pricing I can handle. Especially if they get eaten by the squirrels or die. I will gladly keep coming back by Jims. read more

the best. cheaper than big stores and plants were healthier. the only vegetables that didn't bear fruit were the ones the groundhog ate.

If you don't mind the not so great area you must go to visit this great family owned business! I don't know why I hadn't gone sooner! AmaZing amount of plants! Anything you can imagine! We spent about 40 minutes there and we still hadn't seen everything! The selection can't be beat. I have never seen so many varieties of peppers and basil. And every single item was fresh and healthy! The prices you CANNOT beat anywhere! We left with two beautiful tomato plants ( they have already produced tomatoes for us) about two flats of herbs and peppers and a hanging plant ! We have gotten annuals, perennials and landscape shrubs. Their stock is healthy and has thrived in our yard! The shrubs are very good size for the price. We come back multiple times a season to see what else is available. Love this place! Cash only but that helps keep costs down for the consumer. read more

I cannot say enough about Jim's Garden Center. I was new to the area (I live in Midland Park) and asked a neighbor who has been living here for over 40 years. He has an impeccable property and yard, and I asked where he gets decent plants at a reasonable price (I am from Buffalo, NY so am used to lower prices on just about everything). He recommended Jim's Garden Center. I have since bought my perennials and annuals from him for the past 3 years and couldn't be happier with the plants, products and service. Great quality flowers and prices. I am a big fan of patronizing small mom and pop shops like this than huge chains like Home Depot or Lowe's. I've been shopping here for 20+ years and Jim has always taken care of me and is very knowledgeable. Friendly and helpful staff. Jim's has a fairly good mix of plants and flowers. Nice location, right over the bridge from Hawthorne.

They only accept Cash. No Credit Cards. Owner is a little rough around the edges. He has a strong accent and they change their prices. I went in a few days later to get some more plants and he charged me $3 more per plant, even after I had told him he charged me less a few days ago. He did not care and still charged me more.
