I'm sorry, but something happened to this place for the worse!…read more Maybe CU has upped their hotel game, but this place was underwhelming and shady. First of all, they want you to pay in cash. Not sure who pays for a hotel in cash, but if you want to use a credit card, they charge a 3% fee. This was never mentioned on their Expedia site. Speaking of Expedia, we get a special refundable $100 hold for incidentals. Only us. Really weird. They haven't updated their lights either so the area that they put me in looked super sketchy and super dark. There was also random people walking around and the hallways smelled like pot. The room was generally fine, but neither of the beds were made. They looked like clean sheets, but never made. The WiFi worked thank god! This is now super far from the action of Champaign Urbana so only pick it if it's a last resort. This place has greatly fallen

The breakfast was greasy and not appetizing. Phones didn't work for room service. So we had to walk all the way to front desk. The room had a weird smell so it needs to be deodorized. So we had to use our own fragrance the last 3 days we stayed. He said there was a 4 towel limit. It was 4 of us girls and we needed 2 each. But they did at the end but they were bothered by it. Unfortunately we didn't have time to go to Pool which we heard good things about. We were ok with the beds but not with the sofa beds. The sofabed was not comfortable and it was old and had stains on it and they only give you one cover. Not bed bug protection cover bed sheet no bedsheets. Had to use one of the bedsheets from the other beds in the other room. The shower was good but at times the water would come back up. The mini fridge worked good The microwave was good

Eastland Suites - They took our payment in advance in full, then denied us a room telling us they overbooked.

The Station Theatre is host to Urbana's own community theatre group, the Celebration Theatre…read moreCompany. I've seen one show there, "Ug", which is a tongue in cheek take on stage productions generally, a la Waiting for Guffman, but set in prehistoric times. An anachronistic blast. Based upon the great fun I had attending a Friday night show, I will be back for more. The theater itself next to the train tracks (duh), about 200 feet back from Broadway and across the street from the IGA/County Market liquor store, and you can park for free in that lot. Tickets are $15 each for Friday night shows, but less during the week. We got our ticket 30 minutes before curtain without a reservation. Do note, however, they only accept CASH or CHECK. They have free coffee and cookies (you can donate for this, also) in the lobby and a friendly staff. The players for the show we attended were really good, and had a lot of fun with the show. They were much better than your stereotypical community theater actors. The set design and costumes were excellent. This is a great date after an early dinner in DT Urbana and just a short walk from several good places to grab a quick, cheap bite. If the show is appropriate for kids, this would be a great place to expose them to theater, as the theater itself is tiny and you really feel like you are a part of the show.

They do standard plays you'll certainly recognize, and others by local playwrights which are as good or better! Some very good acting here. It's a small place that welcomes local talent to audition.
