You simply cannot beat the Illini Union, the University of Illinois's official student union. It is, without a doubt, the heart of the university. As an undergraduate here, I would set up shop in the Vending Room (open til 3am nightly), procrastinate with concerts and improv comedy shows at the Courtyard Cafe, and go bhangra dance in the Ballroom when the Indian Student Association threw its parties. If there's a single spot in which to take in the University of Illinois, the Illini Union is it.

Landmark Review: Oh this place brings back so many memories, so many nooks and crannies. There is a lot of hidden stuff here that is great. I spent countless hours here studying away. Let me highlight some great finds 1. Bowling alley, arcade, billiards, xbox rental in the basement 2. Lots of restaurants downstairs to eat at and some snack/coffee shops on the first floor 3. There is the Illini Union ballroom which serves AYCE lunch 11.95. A lot of professors stop here for lunch 4. Art gallery on the first floor 5. McKinley health center (I wish I knew about this when I was a student here) Free supplies Twice Per Semester Cold pack Pregnancy test Yeast infection kit Wound pack Every Two Weeks Condom pack Lubricant or spermicidal gel Latex barriers 6. Tenant union- if you have issues with your land lord 7. Illini book store for all your Illini gear/book needs 8. Illini quad shop for all the random home needs/snacks when you don't want to leave campus 9. Tech zone- they can help repair your computer 10. Document services- if you need help printing brochures, flyers etc 11. Lots of areas to study including the lounges which are hidden off to the side. Great for naps, reading, or a place to rest in between test. My favorite was the vending machine room where you can grab drinks and just lay your head down when you get tired of studying 12. Finally if you want you can even book a room at the Union Hotel for the night

My husband, a University of Illinois alum, and I were in Champaign-Urbana for a wedding, and he wanted to show me around the University of Illinois campus.

The facility was setup nicely in several rooms and halls which made for a nice casual place to hang out with friends in several spots. The wedding hall itself had a nice view to the outside and was a good size to not feel excessively large, while also providing plenty of space to conduct the ceremony. The bar had a nice setup where the drinks are served in the corner and the remaining area can be used to socialize. The dining room was quite elegant and large with plenty of room for dancing. The food was very tasty and fresh. It tasted like the ingredients were locally sourced and I liked the minimal use of dressing and seasonings, instead relying a lot on the quality of the ingredients. I also enjoyed the care put into having nice distinct textures on the different elements of the dish and particularly enjoyed their version of risotto. Overall, great experience and I'd love to attend another wedding here again some day.

The wedding was originally scheduled to be held outside, but rain and winds prevented that from happening. The room that they used inside was gorgeous. It was large, well lit, and looked out on the golf course and pool area. The reception was held in the bar/restaurant area. Normally this is a large space, but the large wedding made it look small and crowded. The grand ballroom was where the dinner and dancing took place. This is a huge room and was used well to accommodate over 150 guests. The servers were efficient in bringing out our food. The food was very good and I would come here again for the food. The appetizers that were served during the cocktail hour were also tasty. Overall, this was a great place to hold a wedding.

He does not notify you if your homemaker is not able to come. He almost always 'forgets' and he has done this with other clients as well. Even though I have talked to him off and on about the issue he never gets it together. Its not that he is a not a caring person..the job is too busy and they will not hire someone to help him. He makes a lot of excuses...but the services they provide while affordable make a person feel unvalued.

Help came for 1 hour as an intro to the service. 3/4 time a regular charge and 1/4 at overtime. About 3rd month, still with only 1 hour per week, charges went to double charges even though help only spent 1 hr. Mother was charged for 2. Complained about bill, told to only pay for the hour, then was told she owed $96 more which was what she was told to not pay. Told them to cancel services in December, sent $20 for one more 1 hour visit and now am told I need to send $15 more for 2 hours. Why do we have to pay for two hours when only 1 hour of service was given per visit? I believe this is fraud. I wonder if Minnie got paid for two hours per visit or just for one.

I called following our local pet ER telling us to come in immediately, within the next 20 minutes, or it would be fatal. Obviously caused a panic- called them as I was leaving to find out the dosage and weight would be completely fine and normal to treat at home (with close monitoring). Steep fee, of course, but would've spent the whole night and an absurd amount of money in the ER if not. I asked a lot of questions that were answered in full, even the ones that admittedly felt stupid. They gave me full descriptions of when to actually be worried in dire detail, down to the hour, and provided a case number to call back if anything were to go down. Thank you all.

Very frustrating, ultimately pointless yet pricy experience. Came home to find my dog had ingested…read moresome human medication. Called our vet (close to closing hours) and they recommended calling the ASPCA poison control center. Armed with a list consumed meds and dosages I contacted them. I was on the phone for an hour and 15 minutes, almost all of it on hold. In the end, I was charged $115 (seems to go up every year) and advised to take her to the emergency vet. I was issued a case number and a number for the emergency clinic vet to call and consult. We arrived at the emergency vet and sat and sat; found out some of the wait was the result of the front desk person at the vet being put on hold for 45(!) minutes to consult with their "poison control specialist" vet. By the time we were actually seen by the vet it had been as much as 5 hours since possible ingestion. She was fine throughout, and is 100% herself this morning. The treatment was an anti nausea med and some subcutaneous hydration though she would have much preferred to drink for herself. It's enough to cause me to suspect the big corporate and venture capital-owned practices make big donations to the ASPCA to encourage their clearly understaffed poison line to shuttle patients towards emergency vet practices. Corporate-owned vet practices (more all the time- you should ask!) recommend both poison control and emergency vets. Never again calling this line, or giving to the ASPCA. Shameless1
