On our last day in Minneapolis I happen to notice that we'd be able to attend this Sunday event. Farmers Markets in California all range in size so I didn't really know what to expect for this one - holy cow! It was huge and lots of different local things. They had Minnesota grown produce, handmade products, fresh flowers, baked good and so much more. I was introduced to Ty's Gingseng (https://www.tysginseng.com/) who grows and sells 6 year old ginseng powder - which is very high quality. I also bought relish from Red Ron's as well as some sausage links from another vendor. To be honest I probably could have spent at least 1.5 hours here if I wanted to really study all the booths and check everything out, but we had brunch plans and needed to depart within 45 mins. Being a MN native, I haven't been back to the farmers market in awhile and I must change that!…read more I recently went the other weekend and it was such a great way to start my weekend morning with clothes, food, flowers, produce and the list goes on! Being able to support the community and get such staple items made my heart full. It probably wasn't the wisest choice getting hot soup on a hot day but it was so delicious. There was live music, went into the walk in cooler to take a break from the sun and went back to it. Every vendor was very nice and welcoming, got some treats for my dogs, a freshly made slush coffee, and some hot dogs to end the walk around. I can't wait to come back to grab more fruits and veggies and flowers!

It's open every Monday afternoon during the growing season. It's also conveniently located in the parking lot adjacent to Main Street in downtown Anoka. There weren't a lot of vendors but I think things will pickup as the season continues and as harvesting progresses. I recognized the bakery & jam lady from the Blaine market. As October approaches, look for pumpkins and gourds, the opening of the corn maze, and the spooky fun decorations. Now the watermelons, cabbage, cantaloupe (my favorite is the cute little sugar cube), and fall root veggies are abundant. As is sweet corn, pickling cukes, and more. There is usually some coupon or deal going on each week. You can't beat the prices are so SO affordable for a farmers market. I'm always sad when it's over for the season. They have kids activities the first Saturday of the month and give away something free to the kids. There is usually live music and at least 10 vendors selling everything from meat and eggs, to bread, jams, honey and popcorn to fresh veggies. Highly recommend checking this out if you're in the area on a Saturday morning!

Talking to the sellers is a great way to learn about new produce that you may not be familiar with. There are farmers who sell eggs and meat, flowers, bread, popcorn, and a wide variety of fresh veggies and fruit. Bring your own bags to help reduce waste. Small bills help. I love bring able to do my part for the environment.
