As October approaches, look for pumpkins and gourds, the opening of the corn maze, and the spooky fun decorations. Now the watermelons, cabbage, cantaloupe (my favorite is the cute little sugar cube), and fall root veggies are abundant. As is sweet corn, pickling cukes, and more. Stop in before they close for the season in November!

Unfortunately the shoot ran a bit later than expected so by time we arrived here we only had about 45 min to see/do as much a we could. The details & decor were so spot on! I loved it. The staff were so friendly and nice. They were also dressed up as well which was cool. I definitely want to go back just to shop & support the market overall! Meant to grab a jar of the spicy pickles & a few other things I saw but by time we got done exploring they were closing everything. The address leads you to the front of the farm but around the corner there's a bigger parking lot (but you should walk around to front so you don't miss anything!). Never heard of this place prior to this year but excited to see what theme they do next! (Or if they do HP again, I'd be cool w/ that too)

It's not much in the way of hiking, as the longest path/loop is only a mile long and fully paved with asphalt, but it's got a lot of amenities that would make for an excellent visit during warmer months. This includes a kid's playground, an extensive fitness zone, a splash pad (with toilets and water fountain-- not operating during winter), a bandshell, and a sizable festival grounds. On the other end of the park (near Pilot Knob) there's a gazebo structure with more seasonal restrooms/water fountain, with a multitude of picnic tables, trash/recycling, and grills that would be excellent for outdoor get-togethers. There is parking at both this location and by the splash pad, as well as the massive lot attached to the community center. There's a couple small lakes and plenty of trees, so it's a nice little retreat (even if right across the street is a massive outdoor shopping center...).

Now, they like to work out at the Core Valley area (we call it Ninja Warrior Park), while I walk the lovely trails around the pond area. The band shell has some free performances sometimes. My fav feature is the cute gazebo and bridge next to the pond. A very well thought out park for so many uses, including art fairs, food truck fairs, a weekly farmer's market and even a huge July 4th celebration. The Eagan Community Center building is conveniently located the middle of the park.

I literally bought 60 bars last year, which he gave me a deal on at $3 a bar (usually $4 each). The meat vendor has the best brats I've ever had as well. They are pricey at $7.50 for only 4 brats but they are worth it. They also cook and serve fresh brats during the market. My favorites are Italian Mozzarella and the chicken brats. Send me a comment if you have one of those 2 brats and they aren't the best you've ever had, I would like to know where I can get better Fresh bouquet of flowers for only $5! I'm sure this is available at most markets, but have to mention it. If I ever get remarried I will speak to those guys about furnishing my wedding. They have an EBT station which is a great idea but don't see many taking advantage of it. Saw my first food truck this year (2013) so maybe this will be a good spot to eat each Thursday if more catch on. However the brats are so amazing that I'm not sure if I would stop getting those anytime soon Perfect place for someone who wants to juice. Most veggies are only $1 to $2 a bag so you can budget $20 and have a weeks worth of juice.

And they are also selling egg rolls! Both turkey and vegetarian options. I recommend you get them to go as they needed to be rewarmed. Very good and it comes with a dipping sauce. All this market lacks is bread supplier. There was a small bakery stall selling rolls but they were already sold out by the time we arrived. The prices are higher than I'd expect: $4 for a tray holding maybe a pound and a half of tomatoes - not special heirloom varieties, but just regular beefsteak, roma or cherry tomatoes. Some tables offered herbicide/pesticide free produce (but is that even noteworthy these days?). This is so small it's more of a farmstand than a farmers' market, but it's still nice to browse if you're into that kind of thing. There was one meat purveyor, one stand for Great Harvest Bread Co. in Minnetonka that handed out delicious and massive samples of bread (that suckered me into some impulse buying) and a stand with homemade soaps. Everyone else sold produce. No array of crafts, jewelry and clothes at this market. The other nice thing is that the produce appeared to be truly locally-grown produce (in contrast to the pineapple vendors at the downtown Minneapolis market). I do know that Mike's Sweet Corn is grown just a mile or so away. It's fun to visit, but I wouldn't count on buying any serious veggies here.
