Cassone is Westchester history with a crust. When was growing up in the 70"s I had an afterschool job at the Bedford Hills fresh meat & deli. In those days we only sold boars head cold cuts - the best then- and we made sandwiches on cassone rolls & heros. The taste of an Italian combo with boars head cold cuts , hormel salami & cassone defined my high school years. It was perfect. Fast forward to 2026. Every once in a while, I go to the shop and I buy a bag of heroes and to Arthur Ave for ham, salami, Coppola & provolone and with my sons we make heroes. For me this is sharing fond memories of my youth & the tradition of good taste. It's like a big warm hug. Cassone has been part of my life for 50+ years. Don't ever change. read more

JJ Cassone is the worst kept secret in Westchester and Fairfield County, Connecticut. Most folks know of their wonderful breads which are sold at groceries in the area. However, you can shop directly at the bakery shop in the front of their commercial operations. Clean and cozy with pleasant and helpful sales people. The real secret is their sweet creations! Our favorite are the sfogliatelle! The pastry component is the best I have ever had, and the cream is perfect in quantity, sweetness and consistency! This is a five star establishment!! read more

I stopped in for the first time and bought some seeded Italian bread and some black-and-white cookies. Wow! I knew the bread was excellent, but the black-and-white cookies were really outstanding! Where are my awesome JJ CASSONE round sandwich rolls at Stop & Shop in Deer Park NY ??? I used to only buy this brand exclusively and now I can't find them any longer ! These were the BEST rolls ever ! Much better than Europa brand and more affordable. Europa only gives 6 rolls while CASSONE still gives 8 huge rolls at a fair price. Now they are gone ! I just don't get it. Why do these stores always get rid of the BEST products and replace them with more expensive inferior products ? read more

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT buy this bread. Several people have found foreign objects in their breads that break teeth and cut the insides of peoples Mouths. I was one of those people. They may have been in business since 1910 but fast forward to now and their employees do not really care About the products and basically let anything and everything land inside their dough. Just happened to be in the area, watching our daughter's softball game across the street at Corpus Christi school, so several of the parents trotted over for a bunch of loaves of bread to take home. Naturally, it was impossible to resist eating one right there and then, so we all sat there ripping off hunks of fresh bread for an in-game snack. So to introduce new items, JJ.Cassone had free samples from 8 this morning to 1. Got to say yum. They now make Jewish rye bread. Excellent chew with good balanced flavor and pumpernickel too! My uncle used to have a route with Cassone's from the 70's through his retirement in 2001. He would rise at 2 AM to get the bread for fresh delivery to stores and deli's. I grew up on this bread and loved it as a kid and still love it today. It's made the old school way and not overly processed. There's nothing like fresh, quality made bread. So glad that they are still part of the Port Chester community and remain family run, not some corporate run entity. My family gets fresh rolls from here every Sunday! The bread is baked so fresh that sometimes whatever you get ends up still being warm when you bring it home! We always get whole wheat and regular white rolls, crispy and soft and moist. I've also gotten their cannolis as well as their jelly cookies with the sprinkles on them. The cannoli's come with choc chips in them or plain and they're not too sweet but just right with a great crunch to the cookie around the cheese filling. It's also not expensive at all. We get about 15-20 rolls which costs us less than $5. The smell when you first come in is that great bakery smell and there's always a person behind the counter. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait because there is only one person working but it's well worth it! The downfall, there's not that much of a selection and variety on everything other than the cookies by the pound because its such a small bakery. Definitely go in for some treats! read more

So the bread is pretty okay. It doesn't have the developed flavor and texture of well aged dough or sour dough breads. They crust lacks flavor and the whole wheat bread is weirdly crumbly. It depends on the kind of bread you like, I suppose, because my boyfriend loves it. I think it's just like the rolls you can pick up at the supermarket, except they were baked fresh instead of being a day old. Except on Sundays. I went there on a Sunday once and everything tasted hard and stale. Never again. I also bought a chocolate mousse cake and some rainbow cookies there once. They were eh. The frosting is made of crisco or vegetable shortening. Such frostings last longer at room temperature and spread on more prettily, but they lack flavor and don't melt into your mouth like good frosting should. The sweets generally seem to lack care and flavor. All things considered, the prices are decent for what you can get. read more

I went to buy bread today. Walked in, was told if I didn't have a mask on, I couldn't buy bread. I asked if they had one, answer was no. I asked if I could stand outside and if he would bring me the bread and was told "no mask, no bread". I have been going to Cassone's my entire life, 46 years. I have not visited your bakery literally but I want to comment on your bread. I buy your bread because it's just the right type and size and meets my daily requirements for a carb intake. This bakery is widely known for its bread, but unfortunately not for its pastries, muffins and or cakes. On several occasions I took the chance in purchasing both pastries and muffins and what I got was a stale cannoli and a corn muffin you could use as a rock. Do not buy any thing from this bakery. They all think they are better than u and don't bother to c if u care. As soon as u walk in to the bakery they are truly not happy to see you, only your money. They make everything 24 hours before and just warm it up before you get there. You are better off going to Neri's bakery,not far from there. They have pasties to die for and appreciate you as a customer. read more
