    ribs in a styrofoam container

The worst ribs I've ever tried to eat. They were so darn tough and taste like lighter fluid. The nerves to charge 20.00. The beans and potato salad was good. I only ate 1 and a half and spit most of it out the meat was to tough to swallow.

Ok let me state I'm not in Texas now. That said yes the place looks just like you want a q joint to look like. However after that it starts going downhill. Cutomers get no interaction with the owner, looked like just tired and ready to go. Maybe an off day. Overall you get the vibe that it could be a killer q shak if or it used to be. Ordered loaded potato, plate of ribs and three sides to get an overall flavor. How can I put it...... just bland ecept for the beans, very tasty. The question is would I refer someone or return myself and the answer is no.

I kept waiting for Guy Fierri to walk through the door at any minute. This place had the look and feel of an authentic smokehouse, the type of place where the junk on the wall isn't junk on the wall, but meaningful mementos. While the menu was a blur the food was top notch. The ribs and brisket were smokey, tender and flavorful. I prefer my ribs to be able to stand up without sauce. JJ's needed the sauce but the homemade spicy sauce didn't disappoint. Like many southern joints the drinks were over sweetened, but given the address it was understandable.

Giving five stars for their steak, not their BBQ. As a local, my family eats here once or twice per month. Hands down the best steak you will find in this area. I have ate steak all around the United States; from Dallas, to Houston, New York City, to St. Louis, Atlanta, and Orlando, Chicago, and so on. JJ's steaks rank pretty high on my list. Their steaks aren't pretty and aren't trimmed to perfection, but they are large, wonderfully seasoned and buttered, and are cooked to perfection on a wood fired grill. You have two options: 1" ribeye or 1-1/4" ribeye, that's it. The 1-1/4 cut I would guess is between 16 and 20 ounces. Definitely large enough to share, unless you love steak like me and can handle it alone. Pretty sure they buy their steaks pre-cut, and I'm not even sure what grade they are, but there is always plenty of fat marbling and a nice big fat cap. Do yourself a favor and pass on the BBQ.

Picked up the bone and the meat cello right off.

Great bbq shack, tender meat and sauce is think for you bbq lovers who need to know. Spicy sauce is not hot just has flavor with minimal kick.

This place was okay. I came here with my boyfriend because we had business in town and I saw some…read morepositive reviews here on Yelp. I don't think it lived up to the hype, though. The flavors of the burger patties were pretty good from the grill that they use right by the front counter. The downside is that the portion sizes are really small, like a kid's size. If a grown man wanted to get full, he could maybe do so by ordering 2-4 burgers with fries and a drink to do so. My boyfriend said 5 would of probably done it for him. You also have to purchase everything separate, because there were no combo options with fries and a drink. The food has a very "homemade" feel to it, like I could of made them with a grill myself. The prices are pretty cheap, at least. Roughly $3 a burger. Aside from burgers, they have some Mexican options like burritos. This is kind of a confusing concept, but whatever works for them I guess. They also have a drive-thru. If I had any real complaints other than the small portions, it would be for the service and the decor. The counter is run by some older ladies who could benefit from working on their manners. Their overall demeanor was kind of grumpy and a total downer for my excitement towards trying this hole in the wall place that people around here seem to really like. The decor looks like it hasn't been touched since it opened, I'm guessing decades ago. It seemed dirty and the mismatched chairs/tables/and salt and pepper shakers contributed to the drab feel of the environment. If I lived in the area, I might go here for a cheap lunch, but I don't think I'd make the effort to come back otherwise. I'm giving it a three stars for the flavor of the burgers and the fact that they cook them over a charcoal grill in shop.

"Neighbor, how long has it been since you've had a big thick steaming bowl of Wolf Brand Chili?"…read more If it's been too long for you, never fear...this place will serve it up for you, in all its greasy gloriousness. We were in town for a concert, looking for a place to eat dinner before the show. We first tried Maggie & Lucy's, and although they have great reviews on Yelp, they were also very busy and had one waitress. It was also very hot inside, so we moved on to Johnny B's. Mistake. The outside is messy and appears neglected. The windows are so dark, at first we doubted if they were even open. The inside smells like their grease hood is not working. I was not very hungry, so I asked the waitress about the chili. She said that the chili hamburger is one of their most popular dishes. I didn't want the burger, just a bowl of chili. Mike ordered a simple burger and fries. His order came out fairly quickly, but it was taking longer for my bowl of chili. As I sat there waiting, I saw the cook place a disposable bowl on the pass. The waitress disappeared around the corner, and appeared about two minutes later with the chili in a proper bowl. She obviously microwaved the chili. Mike's burger was edible, but the fries were rubbish. They were greasy and tasteless, even after a crap ton of salt. Not crispy at all. The chili may not BE Wolf Brand, but they have mixed WB in with it because it tastes exactly like WB. The waitress was pleasant-ish and seemed friendly, but despite the fact that she could see I took two bites of chili and there were a pile of fries on Mike's plate, she NEVER asked how our meal was. Fair warning: The check-out process in this place is unlike anything I've seen anywhere. When you are finished eating, you go to the counter, where the waitress is. She tells you what you owe, and then asks "Would you like to add a tip?", if you respond "Yes", she asks "How much?" Seriously? I guess it's a great way to shame people into giving you a larger tip than they ordinarily would have, but come on. This is 2025. Purchase an iPad or decent POS. Just to be clear, my daughter is a waitress/restaurant manager and I know how hard she works for her money. I standardly tip 20% unless the service was really awful, and then I tip 15%. We were the only table in the place. After seeing we did not like the food, would a simple "Was everything okay?" be out of order? Be better, Johnny B's. Be better.

I almost thought it was closed since it was dark inside and no cars parked near the front. It was 2 hours before closing time afterall and generally it's not a good idea to eat bbq late at a restaurant. I probably wouldn't have even bisited at all, but when choosing a dinner spot I had to take into consideration my work colleague who has a very limited palette and prefers restaurants close to our hotel on business trips. I chose the 3 meat plate with fatty brisket, sausage and rib tips. At least it sounded good in theory. I added a tea and a lemon cake. Unfortunately, they didn't have banana pudding the day I visited, only on Thursdays. Brisket - I had asked for fatty brisket, but they pretty much gave me lean. I'm sure this brisket was either select or choice as there was little to no marbling, but for the price, you aren't going to get prime. 2/5 Sausage - this is a decent jalapeño sausage, although the menu does not specify it was even made with jalapeños. It is a tight fill and had a nice snap. 3/5 Rib tips - not sure why I ordered these, as you don't get much meat at all. Flavor is ok, but these are not spiced very much at all. 2/5 Mac n cheese - this was ok and has some pepper in it. Seems like it doesn't use many cheeses at all. 3/5 Turnip greens - I actually thought this may have been the best part of my meal. These were cooked just the way I like them. 4/5 Toast - every meal comes with either cornbread or toast. Since I don't eat corn bread and I like to make sandwiches, I chose the toast. You only get 1 thick slice. Pretty standard white bread. Lemon cake - this was a dense 4 -layer cake which was ok but I could only eat half of it. 3/5 Service was friendly but I felt like I had to use a lot of their bbq sauce to help the meats. Luckily their spicy sauce is actually pretty good. When the turnip greens are the best item at a bbq restaurant, that's a pretty bad sign. My colleague actually enjoyed his meal, but then again he would be happy with pre-made bbq from the grocery store. Another meal that was barely 3 stars for me.
