When our concerns regarding the top right piece were brought to their attention, we were made to believe this was common. We were told, "...earth minerals from the mountain where it came from." Aside from the minerals, there were other "unnatural" scratches and gouges as well as a dip in the center. The craftsmanship with this particular piece of stone is poor as well. Perhaps because it was getting close to the end of the day. There is a large gap between the stone and the wall as well as larger-than-usual gaps around the fireplace hearth. Yes, you did attempt to remove the minerals. An hour of rigorous scraping with a wire brush but it produced less-than-acceptable results. We were you told that you would return to apply acid which would remove the minerals...hopefully. We've attempted to contact you multiple times with no response. We were hoping you would make it right but now we have to find someone else to fix your work. Knowing that you have an unsatisfied customer and choosing to ignore them speaks volume to your lack of professionalism and willingness to stand behind your work. But you got your cash payment, so I suppose a small job like this does not matter too much to your bottom line.

We obtained four bids, all of which varied widely in cost and curiously in the estimate of materials needed. Based on some strong word-of-mouth recommendations, we went with Sunshine Construction, although they were not the cheapest bid of the bunch. These guys truly impressed me. When they began stripping the old roof, they encountered some surprise issues relating to the ridge vent that altered the work they planned to do. This change resulted in a price change in my favor. They arrived on time each day (it was a 6.5 day job). They tidied up each afternoon before leaving. No one was home on their final day, but I watched the security camera footage of a very meticulous cleanup process, and a final walk-around by the site foreman. The entire crew was courteous and professional. Thankfully they were also quite careful with my wife's shrubs. If their attentiveness to detail is any indicator, I expect the roof to perform well. But the reason for the one-star review was for his lack of responsibility for the damage he caused that he refused to acknowledge and take responsibility for. He required 50% down before he even started the work, and then he sent me two emails and a text within 24 hours after the completion of the job for the remaining balance before I was even able to respond. I paid the bill right away. But when I called him later about an issue that was clearly caused by his work, he was very quick to deny responsibility. He did not even want to come over to investigate the issue nor did he want me to send him the photos and video I offered to send. He was already paid in full, so he was not interested in any issues he may have caused. Because of his lack of integrity, I would not use him again nor would I recommend him to anyone.
