JK clearly stands for "Just Kidding" when it comes to their slogan: "Built on integrity and professionalism." They get one star only because zero isn't an option. I had to supply basic materials just to keep the job moving. I provided all the trash bags for the drywall work because none were brought. The drywaller they hired off Facebook showed up without proper supplies, and the screws that JK provided were too long, so I had to supply the correct drywall screws myself just so the work could continue. The painter they hired was another story. He told me he was hired through Facebook and wasn't even an employee. He showed up with almost no tools and had to borrow tools from me just to do the job. He also appeared to be dealing with substance issues because he was constantly coming and going. When he started painting, he mixed up the colors and painted the house with the trim color and the trim with the house color. All he had to do was look at the existing paint and match it. At the end of the day he left without finishing the job and didn't even bother cleaning the paint out of my brushes or rollers. I ended up going to Home Depot and buying a 30-foot roller extension just so he could reach the chimney safely. He also left an open bucket of paint on my roof and spilled paint across my shingles. JK was eventually told to replace those shingles, which they did. JK also failed to provide polyethylene sheeting to contain drywall dust even though the drywaller said it was needed. I had to purchase that myself and was never reimbursed. Multiple times I had to go buy materials myself just to keep the project on schedule because JK wouldn't bring them when needed. I purchased drywall mud and corner bead to keep things moving. They did reimburse me for that one time. I also had to clean drywall dust and drywall mud that was dropped all over the basement and main floor because it was left behind after the work. At one point JK suggested the drywall installer simply screw a 2-foot 2x4 up against the back of the shingles to deal with a section where fire damage had left a 6" x 20" hole in the plywood under the shingles. There was nothing behind it to even screw into. That idea alone made it clear I needed to hire another contractor to handle that portion properly. Later I had to buy two air mover fans ($60 each) just to help the drywall mud dry so the work could continue. That should have been supplied by the contractor. When JK rebuilt the chimney they used two different types of plywood, and even after painting you can clearly see the difference between the boards. They also failed to install flashing between those boards for proper water diversion like they should have. They left a large amount of debris in my yard. After I sent photos to the salesman they eventually came back to clean it up, but they still left enough nails behind to fill a large dog bowl. Luckily I found them with a magnet before mowing the lawn. They also failed to properly caulk the trim boards, which leaves untreated and unpainted wood exposed on the backside where water can get behind it. The owner and salesman eventually came to my property to discuss the work that needed to be corrected. During the conversation I let an F-bomb slip while describing the situation -- not directed at anyone, just normal construction talk (I'm a low-voltage electrician). The owner took offense and told me not to use that language. I told him I'd speak however I pleased while we were on my property discussing the poor workmanship I was paying for. He responded by calling me a 12-year-old, which was ironic considering he's shorter than most 12-year-olds. I walked inside to grab the bucket of nails they had left scattered across my yard, and my Ring camera later caught him telling his salesman that I needed to be medicated. I told him to leave my property. His response was, "You'll be hearing from my lawyer." I had to explain that JK was still expected to finish the job and correct the work, but that he personally needed to leave my property. He said he was losing money on the job. I told him that's what happens when a company has to redo the same work two or three times because it wasn't done right the first time. Bottom line: avoid this company. I strongly recommend avoiding JK Exteriors. Based on our experience, this company has not followed through on its commitments. We paid a deposit for a roofing project, and seven months later there has been no work completed and no materials delivered. Communication has been extremely poor--despite multiple attempts to contact Jake, we have received no clear answers or progress. Before hiring, I had heard that JK Exteriors did good work in the past, but that was not our experience. After the delays continued, I looked further into the company and found numerous cases and lawsuits on Missouri CaseNet involving similar complaints. If you are considering this company, proceed with extreme caution. In our case, we paid a deposit and were left without a roof, materials, or meaningful communication. read more

If there were a zero stars option, I would select that. Had a contract with JK Exteriors in May 2024 as of March 2026....22 months later.....he has still not completed all of the work in my house. He did the roof and then asked additional deposits to order the siding and kept blowing me off and then when I said I need a start date or a refund, he was not professional and refused a refund. Due to the tornado that hit our area in May my mom's roof was badly damaged. Jk EXTERIOR gave us a very reasonable price & we agreed. Have a deposit, however we did have to wZit longer then normally expected but we took into consideration how many homes were damaged in our area & how many homes& families also were in need. While waiting they offered every solution possible to make my mother's home more comfortable until the roof repair could be done. Imtheyvwent the extra mile and we were very impressed. When the roof was completed it was beautiful.tbe crew were very friendly,and very helpful. They cleaned up the mess every single day it was all.ost like they were never there. JK exteriors is trying to screw my daughter and son in law out of a deposit for siding repair. no contract was signed and no phone calls returned. but they sure didn't hesitate to take their money.. this company is the textbook definition of why you should get everything in writing on a contract. If they will do this to a young couple starting out in life with a young baby what will they do to your parents or grandparents... BE CAUTIOUS OF WHO YOU HIRE!!! read more

Recent storms caused the ridge cap and shingles to blow off our two story home. I called the company that installed the roof but they never returned my messages. Jake not only returned my call but came out the next day and assessed what we needed to repair the damage. Kim scheduled the repair and Mike came within a week and repaired our roof! This is the second time we have used JK Exteriors. I will call them for any future jobs and highly recommend them. read more

This is a very frustrating review to write because ultimately the quality of the work is quite good. That being said, the customer service is terrible and the communication skills are non-existent. We've used them for 4 projects (new roof, leak, new windows, and tuckpointing). Their approach to scheduling is "we'll show up when we show up and don't ask any questions". If you do happen to ask questions, the answer is often "I'll check and get back to you". Spoiler: they won't get back to you. I've resorted many times to asking "are we looking at days? Weeks? Months? Next year?" To which I've gotten a response of "I'll check" or "someone will come over". The straw that broke my back was an ongoing leak that they've been helping us with. Full disclosure: they didn't cause the leak. It's an old house. However, the response for a month has been "we'll send someone right over". After complaining and multiple follow-up for nearly four weeks (first called in June and now it's July 25th), I finally got an excuse of "it'll be awhile because we're having staffing issues". The frustrating part of this is that it wasn't communicated at all for the first month and only came out after extensive probing. I completely understand that there are work delays, but customers have the right to be informed so that we can look elsewhere for more immediate issues. JK is concerned about their commission so keeping you on the hook is their primary objective. They'll tell you that the turnaround time is fast so that you sign/order, and then drag it out as long as possible. A similar experience happened with our windows and tuckpointing. After months of follow-up, you finally get to the root of the issue (I.e. supply chain delays, staff vacations, etc). All of these are completely reasonable, but it's unacceptable to hide those delays for months and string someone along. Unless you have no timeline for a project, I would not recommend them. EDIT: Midway through our window install there was a delay. We asked about leaks and Dennis told us he'd send someone back to cap the windows to prevent leaks. They've now been uncapped for 5 days and we have new leaks in our bedroom. I read more

Had patio cover installed first week of August 2020. Immediately started leaking and then I discovered one of the posts holding up the roof was installed below grade. Have been trying since August 2020 to get the owner of JK Exteriors to fix these issues. He was recommended by a relative who was pleased with the work done on their home by this company. My experience has obviously been the exact opposite. The owner has even refused to meet with me to resolve the situation and has actually recently accused me of harrassment. read more

My Mom had her roof replaced by JK Exteriors and was really impressed on the quickness and quality of work. My Mom isn't easily impressed!! When it came time to get my roof replaced she passed on their information. Josh came by our house within a day or so, gave a quote, worked with our insurance and had the roof installed in a less than a month. Insurance took the longest. I thought the process would be painful but was very impressed with Josh's availability for any questions, consistent status updates and the overall workmanship. I'm disheartened to read the other comments as it seems like they are from a different company than what I experienced. read more

I have one of Ten units they replaced the siding. Work was delayed two months supposedly due to supplies. Siding had to be torn down on some of the units because was improperly installed. Caulking spots were left on the deck. Gutteting was dented and scraped. A hole poked into my screen and electric not rehooked up to lights on deck. On our particular unit, 4 homes, there was no felt or tyvek paper under the original siding. They were supposed to place Tyvek paper under the siding but only placed it under the bottom pannel and leftt it show on the bottom as though it was added. Now for the worse part, damage was done to the inside of the homes, cracked walls, nails popping out of which they didn't take responsibility for and was left for the homeowners to pay to have fixed. The clean up job could of been better, my wife and I swept up some of the mess. Lots of nails left on the parking lot and on the decks. read more

I realize i should not have paid the balance until issues were addressed. unfortunately he had a good reference from a relative so i assumed he would honor his word. Some of his texts were very dismissive of my concerns, such as "get over yourself", "go to sleep" (he could have just said not to text him in the evening). "it's not life or death", "quit harassing me or I won't respond" His TV commercial that says he treats customers life family. If that is true, I would hate to be a relative of his. read more

3rd party roofing crew did an awesome job!!! However, company representative Josh left a lot to be desired. First he disputed the roof measurement after roof was installed without contacting the insurance company. When he did they refused to pay the $1000 he was asking for and stood by their original measurement. At that point he came to me and tried to negotiate an amount for me to pay the shortfall. I refused to do so. Once I contacted the insurance adjuster and told them that he wanted me to pay the additional amount they decided to come and hand measure the roof. They did and their original measurement was correct and closed the claim. Additionally I was told that the roof carried a 10 year transferable warranty which I would receive in about 88 weeks from the manufacturer. That was 21 weeks. After NUMEROUS requests for proof of the warranty I received an email and was to I had to go online and register the warranty. I will contact the manufacturer and file a complaint.
