THEY WERE THE ONES THAT SCHEDULED THE TEST - you would think they would have asked me at that time if it was okay or mentioned the upcharge. They are EXTREMELY UNETHICAL. They stood out with positive reviews, innovative program approach, and the dedication of the instructor Mike, who seemed incredibly educated and experienced in working with people facing different types of challenges. When I initially started at Shift Above 2, my confidence level was basically zero due to frustrating and unsuccessful attempts at learning prior. After giving Mike background on my previous experiences and how i was now feeling about learning, he immediately established a comfortable learning environment by ensuring that the pace of the lessons were entirely dictated by my comfort level. In those first few sessions, I really appreciated that he was highly perceptive. ​Whenever I struggled with a maneuver or began to show signs of distress, he didn't push me. Instead, he would alter the current technique or introduce a different approach that was much better suited to my skill and confidence level. This adaptive teaching style was fundamental in preventing old feelings of frustration from resurfacing. Soon after, I found myself driving confidently in moderate traffic on main roads and performing K-turns and backing up with very little nervousness. My goal in the coming months is to prepare to pass my state road test with Mike's continued training.

Then, when she learned that my son is turning 17 this June, she remarked with disdain, "You know you're late, right?". Don't come here if you're 25! And since we couldn't do Saturday mornings for his classes, she seemed relieved to cancel the registration. But it was all in her haughty facial expressions and the condescending tone of voice that struck a note of repulsion in me. I bid her, "Sorry, for wasting your time. Now you can go home."

I've asked politely the first time around for a copy of my certification that i completed their 6-hour class and I was asked for my name and time when I completed my classes. She never asked for my email the first time because she seemed very persistent to end the phone call that would've just taken 5 minutes of her time. She said I'd have the papers provide with me the next day and they never came around. Their office is closed for the weekend and on top of the office only being opened for 2 hours it's very difficult for anyone to be able to call at a approiate time on a normal work day. Provided I needed this document 3 days prior. I call back a second time and she hits me with the excuse that the email was provided incorrectly. I spell out the email word for word and it has now been 2 days and I have yet to recieve the document which in turn is costing me money.

I have an 8-week beginner class for kids, all supplies are included. I can teach up to 3 students at a time, that is all I have room for. Each class is 2 hours and $40. Kids learn how to use the sewing machine, we have Singer Confidence models, they make a pillow, apron, tote with 2 pockets, and a pair of elastic-waist pants. After the 8-week beginner class, the kids can make a dress and learn new sewing skills. For adults, they start with 4 classes and make a pair of elastic-waist pants, then move on to making a dress. Students can keep sewing as long as they are able, some have been coming here for 5 years. We have fashion shows, free learning events, and we are in the Memorial Day Parade. Learn to sew, it's an empowering life time skill. It's lots of fun, too. It has meditative qualities.
