Really?" Two weeks later, my mom happened to sell her car and needed to turn in the plates. Since I happened to now know there was a local place, I offered to turn in the tags for her. It's pretty easy to find, located in a tiny shack on Hammond Ferry Road in Lansdowne, The place is very clean, obviously brand new, and it was quick and painless. I paid five bucks to turn in the tags, received a payment receipt, and had the registration cancellation in my e-mail the following day. I imagine title work is more complicated, but when you have to do anything involving the DMV, it's nice to have options.

I took my car here for paint work after somebody sideswiped my parked car in a lot. I had taken my…read moremother's car here before and they did a stellar job on hers. So I assumed mine would be the same. I was not as impressed with the job that they did on my vehicle. For starters, when I originally went in for an estimate, I got a ballpark estimate (I told them I would not hold them to the eyeball estimate they gave me in the parking lot) of around $500-600 and that it was about a 3-day job. I was under the impression by what I was told that they had to remove the bumper and paint the entire thing to get it to match the vehicle since the pant transfer and scratches covered part of the bumper and the front fender. I also received an estimate for my insurance company from another autobody shop, and I also got the impression from them that the bumper would be removed and fully painted. I dropped my vehicle off on a Tuesday, fully expecting that they would be finished by Friday or so. I waited until Monday to call them. It was at that time that I learned that the vehicle sat for three days and wasn't even assigned to a painter until Friday! I was told that a manager would call me that evening and explain to me why there was a mixup. I never got that call. I called back on Tuesday to explain to them that nobody contacted me on Monday evening. They eventually found a manager to talk to me and they profusely apologized and explained that they would get my vehicle done probably by Wednesday evening. Wednesday morning I got a call advising me that the job was done. I was kind of surprised because I expected it might take them a little bit longer. I wasn't as pressed about getting the vehicle back as I was making sure it was done correctly. So if they had to keep it for a week, I would've been fine with that as long as it was done right. When I arrived at the shop and looked over the paint job, I was not entirely impressed. There were what look like several dings from rocks, and there was even a smudge in the clearcoat, and there was also a line that looked like maybe the metal flake had flipped. When I addressed all of this with them, they pulled it into the shop to have the painter look at it. At that point, the vehicle died. They had to jumpstart it because apparently it sat for three days and I don't know if the lights were left on, or something like that. They cleaned up the front end and showed it to the painter who apparently thought it looked pretty good. When they pulled the vehicle out, the manager came out and discussed with me that my insurance company didn't pay to have the entire bumper painted, but only to have the paint blended in with the fender to match up. I was very shocked to say the least because the check from the insurance company and my deductible combined was approximately $900. I know that's not a lot of money when it comes to body work nowadays, but I would think it would cover the cost of removing the bumper, prepping it, shooting it, and covering it with clearcoat. There was absolutely no body damage anywhere on the car. It was merely a paint job. And I figured with the supplies and the amount of time that they spent painting it, it wouldn't come to $900, especially when I was told it was roughly a $500-600 job and the fact that they didn't even paint the whole thing! The paint work itself was decent, and they are all very nice people working there. But I don't know that I would take my vehicle there again. I was a little disappointed with what actually occurred compared to what I thought was going to happen. Maybe that was my misunderstanding, but I don't believe so.

From Someone Who Truly Cares About Their Car: DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!…read more I brought my car here for repairs after an accident, and the experience was absolutely horrible. First visit: They sent my car back with a dented door--despite alleging that they ordered a "new" door--and it didn't even align properly with the rest of the car. The window wouldn't roll all the way up. Yet this passed their quality control and they thought it was acceptable to return it in that condition. Second visit: The door wouldn't close fully unless SLAMMED shut. They scratched the window tint and hid that fact from me. My rear bumper was also scratched during removal. I waited days for their "specialist" to touch it up--only to find out it was the equivalent to someone using a paint pen from Advance Auto. The paint didn't match or blend at all. Also, the door lock mechanism was never reconnected. Third visit: They failed to hook up the side mirror sensor that alerts you when someone's beside your car. The door trim was improperly installed, leaving fabric edges exposed and causing water leaks inside. The fender and doors still don't align, and the window makes a worrying clanking noise when it hits the bottom--a terrible sound with expensive glass. I also told them that the trim was not properly installed on the bottom of the door, and it was returned to me the exact same way. Despite a verbal agreement to cover the cost of the scratched tint, they never followed through or responded to my inquiries. On top of everything, they never cleaned the interior--all three times, the car was covered in dust. Every other body shop I've been to at least blows the dust out before returning the vehicle. I reached out twice via email seeking resolution and never received a response. I have videos showing how badly the trim was replaced the the window sound (it won't let me upload them).

I'm new to MD and all the paperwork required by the MVA to register and title a car was overwhelming. I also dreaded the excise tax and wait times. Having to jump through hoops just to get the original title to my car from previous lienholder and DMV, I wanted the MD registration and titling to go a lot smoother. Found out this can all be done through a tag and titling service instead of the MVA, so per usual, off to Yelp I go to find the best of the best. **Terry's Tag & Title Service** there it was, in all its glory. I had a few (ok, a lot) of questions before heading to Terry's in person - I first called the Columbia location and spoke to Brian, who was very helpful. He gave me a checklist of documents to bring and advised me to wait to come in until I have all the docs in hand. After weeks of waiting on my title, I had more questions and this time, I connected with Terry via email. After answering my questions and providing reassurance, she offered to meet us at this location and help us on a Saturday morning since all locations were closed for Labor Day weekend. After hearing our story, she anticipated our next steps (such as getting MD licenses) and gave us advice - made me feel she was looking out for us. She was knowledgeable, personable, and very efficient. I appreciated Terry's guidance through all of this and in the end, Terry's Tag & Title Service helped us save time and money.
