I went to JKW for the first time yesterday and it was amazing! I got a spray tan with Megan to even out. She matched my color perfectly and got me even from head to toe. They have lots of convenient appointment times throughout the day, they were super nice and responsive and since it was only my second time getting spray tanned she gave me wonderful recommendations for maintaining it. The type of airbrushing I got takes 8 hours to set which was perfect! Spray tanning is a great way to avoid UV damage and I would highly recommend coming here for this service. The MUAs are nice but customer service is the worst. You should be careful when booking and signing contract with them. I HAD TO PAY $809 IN TOTAL FOR NO SERVICE due to their ambiguous contract. Not only that, Jordan, the owner threatened to sue me if I don't pay the balance. I was left confused, upset, frustrated, and humiliated. I am really disappointed that the owner, Jordan, is choosing to take such a transactional approach to business by not allowing any of my $800 of pre-paid wedding funds (from my Covid-canceled 2020 wedding) to transfer over to my rescheduled wedding this year. I know it's been a tough time for service businesses - and of course all contracts have cancellation policies. However, it's a little rich that a cancellation policy developed at the beginning of the pandemic (in April 2020) is what Jordan is choosing to stick with - as if anyone had any clue how long the pandemic would play out back then! My stylist, Megan, was wonderful, so my only regret is that I will not be working with her. Future brides - if booking JKW Beauty, just be very sure you won't have to cancel your wedding due to something completely outside of your control. read more

I had done about 8 trials with other beauty companies in the DMV area prior and left every single one of those trials disappointed. But everything changed when I booked a beauty preview with JKW. I walked in and met Megan and was instantly put at ease. She is just a great person and will make you feel so comfortable from the get-go. I have had my hair and makeup done professionally countless times but the results often fall short. Most of the time I don't feel quite like myself; it's always too much or too little and takes various adjustments to get it right. However, as a bride, I was absolutely blown away by my hair and makeup on our trial and wedding day. Further, all the bridesmaids and moms loved the looks that JKW Beauty gave them. My bridesmaids kept saying how happy they were about their hair and makeup, which was very important to me. Even the girls who had "hair that never curls" still had perfect curls in their half up/half down styles by the end of the night. An awesome bonus that makes JKW Beauty stand out from other salons is that airbrush and lashes are included in their price. We had three stylists - Jordan, Felicia, and Kelsey - who did 12 ladies' hair and 8 ladies' makeup in 4.5 hours. JKW Beauty came highly recommended to me for my wedding day hair and makeup service, and I previously had a great experience with Jordan for a photoshoot. However, the service on my wedding day for myself, my mother, and my sister was definitely not up to their standards. The makeup artist, Kelsey, was great to work with. Unfortunately, none of our makeup held up. Within an hour, everyone's foundation had caked and separated leaving us all looking oily and splotchy. I ended up having to redo my mom's and sister's makeup before we even left our hotel. Then had to redo my own once at our venue in DC. Melissa was the hair stylist assigned for our service. Despite showing her pictures of how I wanted my hair (voluminous vintage waves), she delivered a curly, poofy mess and then tried to tell me that a curl was the same as a wave. Multiple times, she mentioned that she was leaving for vacation as soon as she was finished with our hair. I hated how my hair turned out, it wasn't anything like what I asked for and nothing could be done to fix it. She just kept recurling strands and trying to convince me it was the look I wanted. I ended up with limp hair from being over heated and overworked, like if someone had curled my hair and I'd slept on it. An even bigger disappointment was the response I received when I followed up with Jordan the day after my wedding. Not only did it take 10 days for her to respond, she told me she was sorry my experience didn't measure up to my expectations, but she thought I looked stunning in the pictures I sent. Whether she thought I looked nice or not, I did not look how I wanted to on my wedding day and did not feel beautiful as a result. Ultimately, JKW Beauty was a waste of money and I would not recommend them based on my experience. read more

My daughter and I went for wedding hair/make-up trials with this company that was highly recommended to us. The trials were nice, not fabulous, and the stylists were really very kind and friendly...unlike Jordan, the owner. Unfortunately the curls lasted about 1 hour and the eyelashes were coming off after 2 & 1/2 hours - both problems are concerning when weddings and photos last for many more hours. In addition, it took 2 months of requesting and calling to get the pictures to review which is unheard of in our techie world today. Needless to say we wasted $200 because one should NEVER hire people who are that unreliable. I use to spray tan quite a bit but since moving here only found 1 other place that does spray tan and they were WAY to expensive and not a pretty color. I cannot say enough good things about Jordan and her team. My experience with the company started in January of 2014 for my April 2014 wedding. I was shopping for a makeup artist last minute, and Jordan in getting me set up right away with an appointment for a trial. The first trial, the girl was very nice and sweet, but I just wasn't thrilled with the makeup. I didn't feel it was the look I was going for or what I asked for. It didn't look terrible, it just wasn't as "glam" as I was looking for- it was more natural. After talking with my mom who went with me, I decided to contact Jordan about it. I normally am never that person to cause a fuss, or complain, but this is my wedding day and I wanted to look amazing! Jordan was SO understanding, and didn't make me feel bad at all. She asked a few questions about what more I was looking for, and suggested I come back for one more trial with Jen. She also didn't even charge me for the follow up trial. Jen was AMAZING! I loved the look she did at my second trial. She also is so personable, easy to talk to, and has a contagious energetic vibe. I was thrilled to book her for my wedding. The morning of, Jen arrived super early to make sure all of my 8 bridesmaids, my mom, and myself got done in time for our 2pm ceremony. Where do begin? This vendor is AMAZING! Jordan, Melissa, and Lola were the perfect trio to glam up my wedding party! For my April 2015 wedding they did the hair and makeup of my mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, 7 bridesmaids, 2 flower girls, and 5 petal princesses! We were a handful, and Jordan & team created a calm, fun, and jovial environment during the wedding morning. More importantly, the team was professional and kept to a tight schedule so all of the lovely ladies were ready to go for photos in advance of the ceremony! Jordan K. Winn & Co. was one of my favorite wedding vendors, and I feel so lucky I booked with them early and was able to reap the benefit of the services! (If you are considering this vendor, please ignore all of those planning timelines you see on pinterest & the knot... BOOK EARLY!) I did a trial with Jordan about 2 months out from the wedding to walk through my ideas, and I was so impressed with the tweaks and minor corrections made on the day of the wedding to create the entirely perfect look! Jordan made me look and feel like a movie star, and knocked my "modern take on Grace Kelly" out of the ballpark! Additional benefits included having both air brush and fake eye lashes as part of the makeup package, and not an up charge... My bridesmaids especially appreciated this opportunity to have a high end makeup look for the wedding! In addition, the wedding makeup and hair styles lasted the entire day. We began hair and makeup preparation at 9 a.m.! The looks that were created held through the ceremony that began at 6:15, and to the end of the reception at midnight. Aside from the experience on the day of the wedding, I have to note that communicating with Jordan in advance of the wedding was seamless... We made a few changes about 4 months out, and it was easy to make the contract modifications and digitally review & sign the contract. In addition, the payment process was transparent and simple. From a business perspective, I appreciate the organized scheduling and approach to planning the services. Wedding planning and prep can be such a headache, so it's so nice when you are working with organized vendors who work to ensure the details for the day are correct and the necessary actions are made/taken in advance. I highly recommend going with an open ended trial... Show Jordan some inspiration, but also listen to her opinions and advice. She was spot on with the recs for my bridal look and also my wedding party. There is a reason she is the best in the business in the DMV area!
