I have a hairdresser that I feel does a great job. Yesterday, I went in for a simple cut and was put in a position where I felt uncomfortable refusing what was a newly licensed professional. I don't go here to be stuck with a poorly trained person, and I am really angry not at her, but at the desk staff who tried to pretend I "looked good". With hair sticking up at odd angels and uneven bangs in my face. I felt very set up. I was able to get in the following day and my regular hair dresser did a wonderful job that was well worth the money. I did discuss my experience with senior staff and they were very receptive. Overall I have only ever received one bad cut in the years I have gone there, and they have fantastic colorist. read more

I have been going to Shear Dimensions and Kylee Kelly for over 4 years now. Kylee is one of the best colorist and stylist I have ever been too. I don't just trust my hair with anyone and Kylee has made sure that my hair is health and shiny. Over the last year we decided to change my hair color from blond to a rich, warm brown and red highlights. Yay! After recently moving out to MD from CA, I was concerned about finding a salon that would accommodate my spoiled needs. The first salon I went to was unprofessional and a complete flop. On the verge of considering doing my own hair, I reconsidered and called Shear Dimensions. They were VERY accommodating. They were able to schedule me an appointment for the next day and even sent someone to go get the colors I requested from the beauty supply store. Kayla was my stylist. She was so amazing. Friendly, professional, and engaging. Everything I like in a stylist. We had fun and the result was amazing. They have a wide selection of Paul Mitchell products for sale, as well as a handful of other brands. It's definitely not cheap, but I'm very pleased and think it was worth it. I have been driving over an hour to get a haircut for the last year now! As a man who doesn't know much about hair styling and just wants a good professional haircut with someone who remembers me and is genuinely nice to talk to, Trish at Shear Dimensions went beyond my expectations. The haircut lasted twice as long as my previous cuts plus when it grew out it didn't look uneven or crazy after 3 weeks. The Headmasters is a good salon if you get the owner because she is a great barber but Trish made my haircut last and went above and beyond to make me look and feel priceless. I had been going to Shear Dimensions for over 7 years and recently one of the stylists damaged my blonde hair and a lot of my hair fell out. The owners refused to give me my money back even though I had been a loyal patron for many years. I paid $165 to have my hair fall out and I can't even get a refund. I normally go to a high end salon in Rockville and I pay $110 for color, a conditioning treatment and a blow-dry. They do such a great job I am happy to drive an extra hour and pay more. My stylist was out of town so I tried Shear Dimensions and I was floored by the high price when I went to pay. It was $170 (before the tip) for the exact same services I get in Rockville (and is was not nearly as good of a job). I asked her to match the color and what she gave was several shades darker. Susanny Incompetent !Save yout $'s January 05, 2012 Incompetent! Upon entering I was told to help myself to coffee but any snacks in the tray would cost me $1 each! I should have left then and there. Looking around I saw 1 stylist with an 80's poodle perm and another looked like a refugee from the playground with hair all the way down her back. This place is not inexpensive. I met with the very young and very pleasant stylist to discuss the services. She immediately tried to sell me on more. I went for a soap cap to lift some of the too dark color and then a single process color with some sort of additional shine treatment plus cut with blow dry. The problems started when I could see that my roots were not covered/colored. Never had this problem. The stylist then called over the owner who did not have the courtesy to address me personally. The stylist then dried my hair and re-applied the color. Roots still not covered. I had spent hours and had to leave. I returned 1 more time with the same poor results. Only this time my color was darkened so the prior soap cap was a totally worthless expense to me. Did she not remember or was just desperate? No refund or adjustment ever offered. No follow-up despite the fact that the salon has you fill out a pretty extensive form including email. Why??? Cut and blow dry adequate although the stylist dried my hair with a paddle brush and did not even seem to have a round brush in her arsenal. Why not? Is that beyond her expertise? As for the "spa" part. Not even close. On a Friday, there were no manis or pedis being given and just a dark and empty room with a massage table. In conversation, I discovered that my stylist does her own waxes. Downright scary! There is a large table in the middle of the salon loaded with uncapped product which all the stylists use - tacky. Pretty much 80% of the conversation from stylists is pushing adding additional services and selling you product. Totally over the top. On may way out (couldn't leave fast enough) the owner's daughter tried to get me to schedule my "next appointment" Are you kidding??? The stylist was still trying to push product. Completely clueless. As an extra added bonus, I discovered a dye stain on the color of my shirt. read more
