Shimmer is ALWAYS clean and ready to accommodate all of the clients that are in the salon. Second, the ambiance in the business - I have to say, I love the comfortable yet stylish decor in Shimmer. Brand new chairs (super comfortable for the longer appointments) - and new chairs at the washing and dryer stations. I love to see places that maintain their furniture and decor; no one wasn't to sit in old and dirty salons. I have to say, the best part about the place is Nichole! She has always made sure that I was in the best hands! I began having her do my hair from when she worked at another salon. I had to follow her to her own salon! Nichole has time and time again worked with my schedule; which can be difficult. She's made sure that I can get all of the services that I need and get on my merry way- lickity-split! I explained my situation to him and he actually stayed after his day was done to fit me in. I wanted to see who he was and his experience, but he wasn't listed on the salon's website, so I googled him and found a review. It was an excellent review and I was so excited it would be someone who has great experience. I get to the salon and Jonathan was finishing up with the young lady before me. He did an amazing job on her hair and I knew I was in the right spot. All I can say is Jonathan knows hair, everything about hair. He did an amazing job coloring and cutting my hair with such precision. I immediately felt very comfortable with Jonathan. He's a great guy, with a heart of gold. I literally call Kozy Kut and book an appointment with her BEFORE I book my flights, just so I'm sure she's available. She is very skilled and a great conversationalist, but the best thing about her is how meticulous she is. She's constantly checking areas she's already cut to make sure they're even, that she hasn't missed anything, that they match with the rest of the hair. I had stylists before her that didn't do this, but I didn't realize how rare of a trait it was until I had to get my hair cut at a different salon (a fancy, expensive, big city one, no less!) and had a, uh, less-than-stellar experience with a stylist who did NOT do this, and who, even after I made her check things over, still gave me a cut that was not as good as the ones I got with Lindsey. The salon is clean, tidy, and stocked with a variety of good-quality products that Caren neither under- nor over-uses. Caren actually cut my hair dry first (something no one has done before, but something I'll inquire about from now on) and only once she was mostly done washed, did a little tidying, dried, and VOILA: I have a haircut that settled perfectly day-of and, more importantly, has settled perfectly every day since. I'm low-fuss when it comes to my hair (I wash with a little shampoo and ton of conditioner, and maybe use little leave-in coconut oil before air-drying, but that's about it). Caren's cut works perfectly for my normal minimal-maintenance days, and frames my face more nicely on days when I play a bit. Best yet, Caren's cut cost half of what a comparable job in San Fran would cost! If only I could take her back to the Bay with me, I'd have Caren cut my hair forever.

I'm happy to call you after I wake up at 9pm or before I wind down to go to sleep before 8am if you'd like, but out of consideration, I avoided calling you during inconvenient times. I've never cancelled an appointment that I can recall, so I would be interested in the date that I cancelled. If I did, which I find hard to believe, it was definitely with more than reasonable notice. It's comparing apples to oranges, though. I'm sure you could easily fill the spot I cancelled. I can't call and make another appointment with a few hours notice. I'm sorry that those things happened but ultimately, I was unable to get my hair done over many months with your salon. It would have been stellar customer service to try to accomodate me after cancelling on me twice without me having to wait another two months (which would have been a total of four months since my original appointment) or at least offered me some compensation before I wrote a review. The fact that you didn't isn't necessarily a terrible thing, I just have no incentive to make an appointment when I have zero confidence it will actually be kept.
