I HIGHLY recommend JMT Massage Therapy in Acton, MA! I went in with a frozen shoulder that had been stuck at only 50% mobility for months. After just one session with Jen, I regained 75% mobility. That alone felt miraculous, but what impressed me even more was how deeply she cared about my healing. She took the time to ask questions about my pain and limitations, then went right to work using a blend of Eastern and Western techniques tailored specifically to me. Jen's approach is unlike any massage I've ever experienced. She even used her feet while holding onto a ceiling bar to apply the perfect pressure, which I did not know could be so effective! She explained that I would have some soreness after the release and that this was normal as my stiff muscles and tendons began to heal. She was absolutely right and the soreness was real but the "good kind," and after the first day my soreness went away and I had significantly more mobility. I've now returned for three weekly sessions, and each time I feel less sore after and gain more freedom of movement. I am now at 90% mobility after 3 sessions and will update further after my next appointments. What makes Jen exceptional is that she doesn't just repeat the same routine. She carefully identified the areas of my shoulder that need the most work each time. She's used a variety of techniques on me, including deep tissue, hot stones (love this one!) and the theragun. She even recognized that my other side was compensating, so she loosened that side as well. While physical therapy focuses on exercises and strengthening, and regular spa massages are usually about relaxation, Jen's therapeutic massage bridges the gap. It is both therapeutic and relaxing and targeted for recovery. Five stars all the way! If you're dealing with pain, limited mobility, or simply want a relaxing massage, JMT Massage Therapy is the place to go. I've had massage from five therapists and have had only positive experiences. Nevertheless, Jen is a step above the others. She has used several modalities with me - Swedish, sensual, Thai, and Thermagun when I've had sports-related .discomfort. She is very professional but her gentle, sensual touch is very soothing and seems to be done with love. I love massages and have received some of the best I've ever had from Jen. She definitely tailors pressure and technique to my liking. For instance, I love a lot of pressure and she provides! I was absolutely thrilled when I learned that part of the massage involves her walking on my back (using handles on the ceiling to moderate pressure, of course). I found Jen a number of months ago and she is WONDERFUL!!! She is caring and is careful yet effective of the sore places on my back. She gives you full time. Her facility is clean. Wow. Jen is very talented. Easily one of the best massages I've ever had! To the point where I was already thinking about what to write in the review during the massage! Haha Se is very versatile and gave me a perfect combination of sensual, acupressure and Thai style massage. Really great. Feel better already and I only just got out. Definitely go see her. Jen is an engaging woman, very pleasant. However, I cannot recommend her massage techniques. I went to her for Tui Na massage which she assured me she could do. Her massage was only on the surface, didn't concentrate on muscles, and was applied mainly to nerve connections. Tui Na concentrates on grasping and pulling muscles. She found two locations that were extremely painful when she massaged there, even though I yelped when she did. She laughed and assured me that this was necessary. The spots were near the attachment of the sacrum to the vertebrae, L 4-5, where nerves exit. My back has been painful ever since that session with Jen. The two painful spots that she concentrated on have remained painful, whereas they had bothered me only very rarely before I had Jen's massage. I should not have let let her continue a massage that was excruciatingly painful. read more

This is the second time I visited Jen. She has a great personality and is fun. She has set up a great atmosphere to come and totally unwind. She has two rooms setup for different types of treatments. But most of all she is a really great massage therapist who really and truly cares that her clients receive the most from her. I was visiting family in the Acton area and came across JMT Massage. Jen, the masseuse ,greeted me. After driving several hours my lower back and legs were really feeling uncomfortable. The location is nice, and the massage room is great. Very clean and has a terrific smell of burning incense. Really put me in a relaxing mood from the stress of 7 hours being on the road. Jen asked if I wanted a soft, medium, or hard massage and seeing as I still had more driving to go I opted for the hard. To be honest though, I had my concerns that this little frame of a lady was going to be able get all my kinks out. The massage was incredible. I am in awe as to how Jen could handle my bigger size. She definitely understands how to use leverage. Elbows, forearms, and feet were used in perfect balance to reach all the aching points I had. I was a little sore once it was over but in a good way. I knew the next day I will be ready to rock and roll. Jen was a friendly masseuse, was easy to talk with and definitely knows what she is doing.
