The students were left to figure out the curriculum more or less by themselves. Even though my daughter had maintained an "A" in the class through the first 3 quarters of the school year, my wife and I became concerned that our daughter was not receiving instruction sufficient to prepare her for future math courses. Our daughter was becoming increasingly more frustrated with her teacher and her class and the lack of instruction & it was clear to us that if we did not take action, her grade was likely to go down over the final quarter of the school year. The solution: One of our daughter's soccer teammates had been enrolled at Success Tutoring and very highly recommended Success to us to help our daughter with her math situation. We met with the very experienced, organized, knowledgable & congenial folks in charge at Success and were very impressed with their understanding of our situation, their assessment of our daughter's abilities and needs & their recommendation of a tutor to assist our daughter. We signed our daughter up for 10 weeks of tutoring - enough to get her to the end of the school year. Each week our daughter happily attended her one hour tutoring sessions, knowing generally what she wanted to review with her tutor. After each session, she had only very positive things to say about her tutor and his effectiveness in teaching her what her math teacher did not. In other words, our daughter had an extremely POSITIVE experience with her tutor. And she has retained her "A" in her math class. The final is in a few days and she feels very prepared. Recommendation: I would happily, unequivocally & strongly recommend Success Tutoring to any family with a need for outside assistance with any of very wide variety of subjects. We are thrilled and relieved to know that if / when a situation arises in the future where either of our kids need academic assistance, we can turn to Success Tutoring for guaranteed help. Like all institutions, public schools are flawed, and situations requiring outside assistance do arise from time to time. What got me disappointed is the impressive greediness, excessive ambition, a slight inflexibility. I asked for a meeting/consultation to get feedback from my son's tutor, to determine if he was in the right math program at school. I asked for a brief 5 to 10 minutes. They suggested that it wasn't enough time to talk so they suggested 30 minutes, I said ok. Then one of the owners said they would charge me $ 30 for the 30 minutes because it was the tutors time. I suggested this was overboard with their policy when I only need 5-10 minutes. They replied that they have charged $100 for consultation.It sounded to me like a law firm more than a tutor center. The sensation I was left with was that the chance they get to milk money from me they will do it. They are also willing to burn a long term client for $30 dollars. Their payment policy is not open or inviting for a long term business relationship. They give you $10 discount if you pay 5 classes in advance ( $65 x hr). If not you pay $75 the hour and in advance as well. In today's market, flexibility and keeping up with market trends is key to making business fresh and alive. So if you as a parents are seeking for a quick alternative for your child to get through exams and finals, go for this tutoring center, but it is a quick fix. If you are seeking for a long term tutoring with client accommodation go somewhere else even if other tutoring places are more expensive. For long term and regular tutoring as an option it is best to have flexibility in payment processing.They don't have Venmo, PayPal, etc. they write your credit card number on a paper and keep it on file.We are already struggling, juggling life to help our children be their best, to complicate with tutoring hassles when there are lots of tutoring options. After every session I get an e-mail with notes from her instructor sharing what they covered in the lesson and how it went with a list of things she did well and things she can continue to practice. Also, the sessions are easy to use and set up, it's just a link to click in an e-mail instead of downloading or installing Zoom or any other platform on the device.
