We began searching for a tutor that would be the "right fit" for our daughter, Vyla, some time ago…read more During the 2020-2021 year (4th grade), our daughter was lucky enough to be in-school learning, as COVID prevented many from not being in-school. However, Vyla had been struggling since the beginning of her 3rd grade year, when COVID first hit. Her studies took a nosedive and we had been playing catch-up since. Although being in school was incredibly valuable, she continued to fall behind. As Vyla entered the 5th grade, we were determined to get her caught up as quickly as possible. We considered a few other services, which all looked great, but there was something very warm and positive about Marsha when we discussed Vyla and our determination to get her back to grade level. Marsha reviewed Vyla's background, listened to all of our concerns, reviewed an academic evaluation we had Vyla complete, and discussed an education plan moving forward .When Vyla began the 5th grade, we then reevaluated what Vyla should be doing, based on what was going on in her class. Marsha focused on Vyla's gaps, and with each session, Vyla became more confident, and more focused! When we started, Vyla was hesitate, as Marsha was "new" and she was not sure if she would work well due to having to complete her schoolwork; she was worried about being over-worked. But with each new session, Marsha showed Vyla that studies could be fun! Marsha challenged her with quiz's, facts, flash cards, and Vyla could feel the improvement in her studies. As the school year has progressed, Marsha was quick to utilize the areas Vyla was working on in school, as well as testing her on her spelling, math, and reading. Marsha is kind, patient, and very accommodating. She is willing to work with your schedule, and is flexible provided you keep in communication with her. She wants to work with children, and you can tell she cares - she cares about their wellbeing, education and self-esteem, which is very refreshing. We are very happy we found Marsha, and intend to keep working with her for the rest of the school year, and hopefully next year as well! We completely recommend and appreciate Marsha, who is truly a friendly, experienced and professional tutor. Thank you!

In this case, United Children's Learning Academy (UCLA) is castle of education for our daughter and her classmates. The school balances art, math, music, science and physical fitness. Not going to lie that the school that our Child attended in Seattle was next to a water canal that is part of Lake Washington that links Lake Washington to Puget Sound. It was beautiful. While UCLA is not located next to a lake or park -- the school, the teachers, the administrators and the parents work together to create unique and beautiful experiences for our children in and outside of the classroom. Did I mention the strong diversity and inclusion of the students and their parents? I have spent time inside and outside the classroom with teachers, parents and our Child's classmates -- theatre, halloween, birthday, shopping, Dad's hanging out with the kids, etc. I truly believe that inside each classroom there is royalty. In these classrooms, there are tiny humans that will eventually grow up one day to lead different people, ventures, organizations, countries, etc. UCLA provides our Child the structure, social time, interaction time, empathic limits, downtime and education that preschoolers need to one become successful King and Queens.

Parents are informed of everything going on in the classrooms, including lists of what books are read and what they are learning each week. There is an amazing sand yard, where kids are encouraged to "get dirty," by making "rivers" and playing in the sand in creative ways. There is also a garden, where students get hands-on experience with gardening and composting. The main play yard has different "stations" set up each day, where students can choose on their own what interests them. Every day is different - there might be trains, blocks, art, books, water tables, dinosaurs, dollhouses, etc. set up. Each day is a new experience for the kids, yet there is routine, too. The grounds are EXTREMELY safe and the staff makes sure pick up is as smooth as possible. There is a parent committee, where parents can participate in planning fundraisers, as well as campus activities. There is a lot of interaction with the other parents in the children's rooms. The room parents often host get togethers and meetings and there are several meetings with the teachers throughout the year. At the end of the year, children receive a binder with artwork and "journals" from throughout the year. Photos that the teachers take all year are also included in the binders. Having tried some other preschools in Burbank, none can compare to Methodist.

My favorite part of being a mom with a child that goes here is that I am able to help in the class, I like that classes are small enough to where I am close with my daughters teachers. They remain in very close contact and will contact you if there are any issues that need to be addressed. There is a lot about this little preschool that has stayed the same in the past 30 years, the wooden boat that stays in the play yard, the sand box, and the school still smells the same as it did the first day I stepped foot inside the school. I recommend this preschool to every single parent that is looking for a place for their child to have a wonderful learning environment.
