You will find beads, ribbon, paint, storage containers, yarn, sewing supplies, wedding decor, etc. There is something for every crafting need! The holiday theme section is always set up in the front of the store, and the selection is great. They offer craft classes--I'm not sure if they still have them because of COVID. They 'craft' kids' birthday parties, with an instructor, digital invitations, and all craft supplies included. What a gray way to help take the stress out of party planning for parents. Fifty percent off sales are going on all the time so you can easily find a good deal. Upon entry, you will find a sanitizer station with masks if needed--I like that. read more

I'm a fan of JoAnn Fabric and it's great that they are within walking distance of my home. There is always a huge array of fabrics and yarn as I both sew and knit. I do wish that they were better in stocking certain items like knitting needles and dress patterns. I have had to order patterns on my own. For those who don't know, JoAnn's is a fabric, crafting, creativity type store. It's similar to a Michael's (which would be my go-to for craft needs), but with less crafty stuff and a lot of fabrics. This location was clean, easy to navigate and not crowded. I passed by two associates who didn't say hi or anything else; not rude, just not welcoming nor offering to help me find something. Staff here is always helpful. I feel like they have your "basics" for crafts but this is more for those who sew as the Fabrics does take up more than half the store options. However, if you get the app, there are always sales and coupons available making this a very affordable place to shop. read more

Today was my first time at this location. For the size of the store they really have a wide variety of fabrics in my opinion compared to other Jo Ann stores of the same size. It was also well organized and it was easy to find things. My only problem was forcing myself to walk away from the fabric lol. Make sure to download the app to get all the coupons. I especially liked the Harry Potter and seasonal areas. Download their app to access coupons. JOANN Fabrics and Crafts in West Ashley is a great place for all of your craft needs. I really like that this store is very large and has a comprehensive selection of just about everything you could ever need for any craft project you may have. I like how this store is organized and has well marked sections for different categories of items that you are looking for making everything really easy to find. The staff here is also very knowledgeable and helpful and can answer any question you may have or help you with some ideas that you may not have thought of for your project. The system to get fabric measured and cut is terrible. A group of customers standing around waIting for a chance to get their fabric cut. There is a number system (where you pull a number tag and when you number comes up on the TV screen it's supposedly your turn) BUT, the staff, including the manager, Crystal, don't use the number system. So even if you've pulled a number, it doesn't matter- they take any customer standing nearby. This causing strife, confusion and frustration. If you're a manager and you see a crowd waiting, look up and inform the crowd to take a number. It isn't hard and it actually works if you use the system. read more

If this review was only based on all the goodies that JoAnn has to offer, it would definitely be a solid five stars, but I have to ding them for the lack of customer service that I have encountered on multiple occasions. Most recently, I had an occasion to need some "accent" pieces for a costume I was going to be wearing. I was in search of a few very specific items and had a hunch that I could find just about anything here. My hunch was right! Man I could get lost in this store just perusing the aisles. Unfortunately, I don't have enough money to buy up all the things I like or want to make, and surely don't have enough occasions to "need" the items either! I really have to just put on blinders when I walk into this store and go directly for what I need. The layout is pretty good, but there were a few things that I had to search for a little. I did end up finding them, but almost gave up first. There were a couple of things that needed to be measured and cut off the bolts so I had to wait a little there. She also didn't provide any guidance on what to do next. I had to ask her for the receipt so that I could take it to the register up front to pay. Ohhhhh, the register up front. The one cashier was extremely friendly! Did I mention there was only one cashier? Did I mention that it was a busy day? The one customer apparently had lots of questions, comments, who knows what, but the line kept growing and growing. We all kept looking around for a manager or someone else to help out, or to catch the eye of the cashier or customer so that they could get out of their own little world and help us leave, but Fat Chance! We waited and waited. Finally, another woman (seemed like the only other worker in the building, but it wasn't) came up and opened a register. She must've taken three more patrons through before the initial cashier and customer finished up. It was ridiculous. I know that things like this do happen, and usually at the most inopportune time, but good Lort pay attention. This is an area that could definitely be improved. I will most likely return due to the selection, but will be hesitant with the thoughts of the terrible customer service. Please work to improve this one thing, and your business should boom. read more

I have been in here several times, they have any and everything you need from DIY projects, tons of sewing and fabric notions, which I am currently making a quilt, for my beautiful granddaughter, for her 8th birthday.. they also have classes, you can sign up for, I downloaded their app, and get tons of coupons!! Which really helped alot when my husband bought me my new singer sewing mate, sewing machine!!! All of their staff are so friendly, and can help you find a needle in a haystack, the store is huge!!! Janet Anne was an absolute delight, super cheerful and helpful. However the manager was a nightmare, super rude and dismissive, didnt catch her name because she didnt have a uniform or a name tag, wore a vivid green instead, light blonde more brown hair, super sour. Very disappointed with my experience at Joanne fabric in West Ashley yesterday afternoon. I had one item at check out and, as it happened, a woman ahead of me had two carts full. She was gracious and apologetic, unlike the cashier. As the line behind me grew. The cashier was asked to call someone for help. She said there was only one other person,the manager, and she was cutting fabric. She called the manager to ask about ringing up an item, but didn't mention the problem. That item, by the way, had 100 individual units which had to be rung up separately, are you getting the picture? As she finally was finishing with this order, she called the manager to come to the front. No one at Joanne fabric apologized or was the least concerned. Very poor customer service! read more

Just left Joann fabric West Ashley. I have in the past purchased a $400. sewing machine in addition to hundreds of dollars in fabric and notions. The customer service was horrible. I called there last night to inquire as to 2 wreath containers. The girl who answered (Diane) told me she would check on the floor and did find them. I asked if she could hold them for me til 4:00 tomorrow. She said yes and took my name and told me they would be up front with the cashier when I arrived. I drove 45 minutes each way, yup! in traffic and rain as well. I arrived there just before 4:00 and shopped for some extra items. When I got to the cashier my wreath containers were no where to be found. She went to the back to check there and still came back without them. She told me that Diane told her that she did not say they were here in the store and that their system is not always accurate. I told Her this is not what was said to me last night... during my trying to tell the cashier what I had been told, she kept interrupting me and would not let me finish speaking. She was very rude and told me I was yelling at her. I was not yelling at her I raised my voice because she would not listen to my explanation and try to work out what she was going to do to fix this. Her name is Brie: I asked to speak to the store manager at which point she told me she was. I then asked her who her higher up was in the corporate office or the district manager. She said her boss was not here. At this point she fessed up to being the manager on duty? which she says was who I asked for. I never said manager on duty, I said store manager. Anyway, My issue is the lies that were said to me about being management, the item not being there etc. I would rather have heard I am so sorry we sold it. The truth is always the best. She also asked me to leave the store because I was getting aggressive with her???? What??? She also told me she would call the police, she was threatening me as well. What???? I never yelled at her, I never cursed or anything. I think that she did not have the people skills/customer service skills to know to listen to the customer and then as them what she can do to make it better. She obviously lied several times in the conversation, and then threatened a very good customer with Joann Fabric. I asked her if she would be upset if she arrived to a store after a long drive to find the item on hold was not there? She did not answer me which was answer enough. She kept asking me to leave... I asked her for the store managers name and the store phone number. I barely got that out of her as she kept telling me to leave. So I left without my other purchases as well. I am devastated on how I was treated after their error and how they tried to cover up so many things. In a time when customer service is so important. Just so you know I am a master level psychology major just finishing my degree, I am also a pastry chef. I am mature enough to know what is going on. This is so sad... When you do not provide the right customer service your customers will find what they want elsewhere and will pay more so they do not have to go in your store.... and with technology you also have to deal with internet. Word of mouth has gotten a lot further then just the neighbor. I am totally disgusted, this was really over the top. read more
