I haven't been to JOANN in a few years and went for a sock puppet project and created the most incredible project ever! We got some feathers for hair, a felt square, googly eyes, and pom poms from here. A wonderful old women cut the feathers and another told us where to find a square of felt, this place is great for any fabric user or project! read more

Bought 3/4 yards of fabric and only received 20" of usable squared fabric. Took it back for a recut and the employee insisted that we cut had this ourselves. Asked for a manager but conveniently there was "no manager on-site". Sure enough, I won't be back. I'll be visiting that friendly Christian hobby company down the street and McKinney's other wonderful quilt shops. read more

Grrrr! After hauling booty down I-75 on a Sunday to get there before they closed at 6:00, I was shut down like I was trying to get into Alcatraz at 5:56 PM. I know that's not a huge deal but when ya just need 1 thing and you have already been to 2 other Joannes that day.... It definitely just rubbed me the wrong way! If you close at 6, close the dang door and lock it at 6! Ridiculous. And to top it off, I gently tapped on the glass because I knew I had 4 min to spare and the poor little blue haired employee came to the door and I VERY NICELY said "I just need to grab one quick thing!" She said, I'm sorry we close at 6, I said I know, but it is not 6!!!!! Anyway she radios to her mgr and says "there's a customer trying to get in" and up comes the manager and she proceeds to explain to me that they close at 6 and I said well ma'am I wouldn't have an issue if it were 6:00, but at this point it's now 5:58! I showed her my watch and just walked off. Very bad service. They still had customers shopping in the store. I will take my business elsewhere. (On a happy note, the Girl Scouts were selling cookies out front and so I chose to drown my sorrows in thin mints and Tagalongs to make up for it!). So , this post is to encourage this store to get a watch or a working clock. The Girl Scout parents watched this entire thing unfold and said they sat there and watched the girl lock that door as I was literally running to the door at 5:55. Such crap! Ok, I'm done! I was looking for something I couldn't find, and couldn't find anyone to ask. The store was pretty empty but there was an employee at the cutting table working with a customer so I asked her. She said I'd have to wait until she was done with her customer. She moved and responded so slowly and intently that I wondered if she had some kind of disability. I'm not unfeeling but it took a good ten minutes before I got a simple answer. So lack of help is a consistent problem with every Joann's I've been to. Hobby Lobby is horrible, so I have to drive out of McKinney to find better options. At this rate, how long can Joann's even last? It's a shame. read more

Not the friendliest staff in the world and very limited, if not completely out of stock, selection. You'd think with your competitor being only 1 street light over that you'd bring your A-game, but nope! Joann's would rather grace you with grumpy, mumbling staff and empty shelves. Small store, limited items. Must travel to bigger store to have access to more than just the general craft store items so I tend to end up driving to Frisco or Plano store for what I need. Check out is typically quite slow. Store is always very warm and feels like AC isn't working properly. read more

I like this Joann's because it is close, but I prefer the one in Plano because it has more of a variety. If you can avoid it, do not come during lunch. There is usually only one person cutting fabric and one cashier open. So, its best to go at other times. Make sure to get on their mailing list, they send great coupons. read more

Do not come to this store!! There's a girl at the cutting station, her name is Lauryn. I got home and found out she measured my fabric wrong. I asked for 25 yards of tulle she only gave me 22. I told her these are for my wedding dress so please try to be careful, I don't know if it's the fact that she doesn't really care or she did it on purpose. She rolled the tulle super impatiently so all my tulles are now very winkled and dirty. Then I told her I'll roll them up by myself don't worry about it she went ahead and help the next customer. The next customer was buying some foam fabric which has terrible shredding. Lauryn laid that fabric over my tulle so now my tulles aren't only wrinkled, dirty, and they are also full of pieces of the foam. The worst thing is, her manager was watching this entire thing happened without making a sound. Again, do not come to this store if you are wanting to have either good customer service or nice fabric to bring home. read more

The staff at this particular store were amazing First by helping me find the right fabric and instructing just how much I would need (which was a lot less than I thought I would need/have to pay for) Then during checkout they helped me find all the coupons my transaction qualified for even though I had no knowledge of said coupons on the website or app. They turned what would've been a close to $200 purchase to $95 which is so meaningful to a student with a part time job making her first cosplay Thank you read more

Was in there yesterday to purchase the new cricut machine. The service to purchase was so slow both times I went in there! Employees were almost sloth like. The second time I was in there the cashier let the check out line get 11-12 customers deep before she called for back up. She waited until she was done checking someone out to call for backup even though she had to get on her intercom to ask a question.... you don't have to wait until your done to call for back up. You are moving extremely slow and are completely unaware of how many people are in line. I almost walked out without purchasing anything. The store is very clean and organized is why I didn't give it less stars! read more

I have been in this store only a handful of times because each visit is nasty! The young man cutting my fabric was unkept with horribly long and dirty fingernails. I did not want him to even touch my fabric. On the last visit the young woman did not even know the type of fabric I was looking for and then when cutting the fabric she did not line it up evenly. I have sewing for 35 years plus and never had such bad service in a store. If you work in a fabric store you should look clean, tidy, cut fabric correctly and know something about fabrics. I only go here because the selection for fashion fabrics is very slim. read more

My dad and I were at the store tonight (like 20 minutes before closing) looking for stuff for a school project. When we went to check out, we had missed placed a few things and had to go back and look. The cashier was super nice about it and gave us a lot of helpful tips to find what we were looking for. When we finally got what we needed, he rang us up and even gave us some coupons for our purchase! I just wanted to say thank you to him and that he's a very kind soul. Incredibly rude employees in the fabric section who didn't want to help me and then ganged up to make fun of me. I walked up with a roll of fabric and smiled at the ladies behind the counter. They both just gave me disapproving stares as they moved bolts of fabric around and didn't say a word. After a couple of awkward minutes, I asked if it was okay to leave the fabric there for a minute and went to do a little more shopping while I waited for them to finish whatever they were doing. I came back and saw another lady waiting, so I took a ticket. Denise, the fabric employee, came out and asked if anyone had a ticket. I showed her mine and told her my number, and the other lady indicated she was there first. Denise started helping her while the other two employees behind the fabric counter ignored me. I wondered if maybe Denise was the only one allowed to cut fabric. A line started to build up behind me. After Denise was done helping the other lady, I stepped up with a smile, knowing I was next. She ignored me and started moving bolts of fabric around. I waited another awkward minute before I asked her if she would please help me and cut my fabric since I'd been waiting. She was huffy and sarcastic and rolled her eyes at me. I explained that this was my second time trying to get help and she was just doing other tasks and making me wait. The two other employees who were slowly moving things around immediately jumped on my case and told me to "stop being rude." One of them told Denise "good job" for telling me off and started helping the customer behind me. So it appeared they could cut fabric after all and chose not to offer before. I mentioned this and they gathered together and started making fun of me. I requested to speak to a manager. The manager came out and didn't have much to say. She claimed she would "talk to them." I've never had anything like this happen before. My mom was there with me, and she was horrified by how they all acted. I don't plan to shop there again. read more

This particular location doesn't have the greatest staff but I do enjoy taking advantage of coupons whenever they distribute them for specials. Usually have to wait in line because they often only have one cashier available despite having multiple registers. All in all, they're cheaper than Michael's (with coupons) so it's the better of the two craft stores in the area in that aspect. read more

I have to rate this store with a low rating. Just went in with my kids after school. My kids (6, 7 and 9) were looking at the children's books on the CHILDRENS book Rack that was located at the end of an aisle. They were being quiet respectful and careful and they have allowance to spend which they often spend on books. The store was mostly empty at this time. I was standing at the end of an aisle one aisle over and a clerk came by and told them to get out of the aisle they were in the way. Now I thought stores want customers to come in, look at products and then purchase them. But I guess this store does not. By the way they were not in anyone's way, the only person walking by was the clerk. Also, if that is an inconvenient location for shoppers to browse maybe you should relocate the rack to an area that won't inconvenience your employees. It is hobby lobby for me from now on. I don't spend money where employees are annoyed by it. read more
