I had a grand idea of making my aisle markers and arch decor for my own wedding out of silk flowers. I got some inspiration online and went to Joann. I feel like everything there is always on sale. I picked a bunch of flowers, greenery, and wire for assembly. Pro tip: buy the wire cutting scissors!!!! The floral wire can by cut easily but the stems of the bunches of silk flowers are wired and very difficult to cut. I made a second trip for those cutters. I found what I wanted but needed more. I did not realize it until I was well into my project. They have a website that has everything. I ordered more silk flowers for pickup, as the store offerings can vary and they were out of the hydrangeas. The cashier was super helpful. He recommended I download the Joann app because there were several coupons that I could use. So I got a better price than the sale price! I kept all my receipts as he said if I didn't use everything, just return it! Not only did I get silk flowers, but also the wood for my rustic cake stand, the tulle and pearl trim to make my own veil, a gorgeous wedding photo frame, ribbon for the aisle markers, and fabric for the arch decor. I made many trips to this store. I will attempt to include my project photos on this review. Summary- great customer service. Lots of useful items. Easy parking. I love this Joann's! It's a huge store, it's called a superstore - which it totally is. Tons of options for all kinds of different arts and crafts. I went there prior to Christmas and lots of things were in sale, tons of Christmas/holiday items were 70% OFF, and their frames were all 50% OFF which was such a great deal. Service here was great - there were only two people working and both of them were so helpful with anything I needed and even gave me suggestions on some projects I was working on. Very sweet and professional! The store could've been a bit more organized, but it was clear that they were understaffed and overworked so I can understand this part. While aesthetically not so pleasing, I was still able to find what was looking for. Definitely worth checking this place out for any of your arts and crafts needs, and keep an eye out for their deals! read more

If you can't wait 2-3 days for Amazon and are ok with making a purchase for 50% more than Amazon, then make your purchase here. I was aspecting that I could buy (at least a few items) for a discounted price and THEN craft them to At least break even....nope not at all. I don't know why I come here anymore, I guess I hope that someday it will get better, but in the last 4 years this place has been on a steady decline. NEVER have items listed as "in stock" per the website, and the shelves are dismal and messy. Everything is unorganized, and the employees are scarce with only 1 usually working a register. All the paper is mixed up and in the wrong spots, huge ladders blocking the aisles, and most of the items on the lower shelves are covered with dust. Not to mention, it's always hot AF in there, which only makes me more irritated. They have stuff in bins at the front of the store outside baking in the sun and in the rain. A huge location with a ton of product, it very much feels like an outlet store. It is labeled as a Super Store, and with good reason. It's huge! They have everything you'd expect for the chain, but a ton of variety and options. They have all their holiday items 50-70% off right now, I'm sure it'll go down a bit more. The biggest difference between this location and some other craft chains is the large selection of fabrics and materials. They definitely offer a great variety for sewing, quilting, and crafting. The materials / fabrics section was busy and well organized. The store itself felt chaotic. It was hard to tell where each section was and there were items intermixed into every area. I know that customers put things back in the wrong spots, so it's not a big deal. Overall: C Warehouse / outlet feel with a huge variety and selection. If you shop here, watch the prices the items ring up at the register like a hawk to avoid being overcharged. Almost half of the items I purchased rang up higher than the price on shelf. After spending 10 minutes with the cashier running back and forth to the items on the shelves to verify, I was proved correct; every item's bar code matched the shelf tag with the lower price. The price automatically charged was in one case 150% higher than the item (a sticker) was suppose to be (correct $1.99, rang up $4.99). While I started this review with the end of the trip because the incorrect prices were most concerning, the remainder of my trip was also not smooth. I had to find an employee several times because items were not tagged with prices on the shelves. The employees also lack a customer service mentality. I found a scrapbook in a pile of various scrapbook with different prints that all had different UPCs on an end of aisle display with a clearance shelf tag of $11.99. I stopped a sales person to ask if she could clarify the price of the one I wanted. After asking her about the price initially, she replied she didn't know. I tried again by asking her to scan it. She replied she didn't have a scanner. My third attempt was asking her if she could take it and scan it or find out. Had a really great experience at this store today. Was looking for a bandana to wear to the Orlando Pride game in blue or purple (team colors) and was helped by, I think Jennie, right away. The line to check out was great and not as long as I remembered from other visits. Definitely one of their better stores in the area. I went to this store on a Monday afternoon. It was not very busy but I could not find an associate anywhere as I had a question. The only employees available were the fabric cutter and one cashier. People were waiting a long time for fabric cutting and since she was the only person available to ask a question, I thought I'd ask. She was very rude and answered me in a short way and told me to wait. There was no one else around to ask this question and believe me, I looked all through the store. I really like this store and spend a lot of time and possibly more money than I should there. It's a reasonably large store and stocks a good range of products from art/craft/paper supplies to DIY, storage, home decor, gifts and pretty much anything I need for my crafting hobbies. Joann's is generous with discounts and does allow coupon stacking. Just check for exclusions. I recommend downloading the mobile app as it makes it so much easier to just pull out a phone and let the staff member scan the coupons at the register. I never remember to keep track of paper coupons these days. The line for the register can get pretty long, but they manage it well and it usually moves quicker than it looks at first glance. Staff members are always friendly and helpful and a small, but significant thing I like is that they acknowledge your presence. We have three large chain craft stores nearby and Joann's is not only my go-to of choice, but I only ever go to the others begrudgingly as an absolute last resort. I buy regularly from the floral section and appreciate that the floral range has a more 'real' look to it whereas the competition tends to lean on the more plastic side. With the generous coupon discounts it typically works out cheaper than going to a budget store and I get the quality I like here. Definitely a Joann's fan here. read more

Rude manager and the older lady where the sewing machines are was off the charts with her indignant attitude. I asked her about a sewing machine screw and she was as nasty as they come. The manager failed to explain my receipt so she start3d getting short with me. The fabric cutter was the best. Also, there stand in line wait until someone exits the store is crazy..20 people at a time.. how big is the store 120sq ft? crazy to have a few people in the store while others wait in a long line in the hot sun. Don't shop here. Staff will profile you if your alone and don't want help from the manager. Was shopping for cosplay supplies stopped in cake decorating to calculate how much fabric I needed to buy. Was stopped by management. Was asked if I was stealing answered no. Was given a warning and they called the cops and put on tresspassed even after a search and frisk by officers, that proved contrary. I was still tresspassed. Even after I bought $20+ worth of goods. If this action is not reversed I plan to pursue legal action against management and corporate. read more

Most of the staff there were nice. The manager on the other hand was very rude and giving my mother big sass. I work in customer service and she was not providing what customer service is about. She's very disrespectful and should not hold the position she is in. The other cashiers that she had put in charge to take care of us were also being disrespectful. I think the whole front needs a workshop on customer service, make that more than one workshop, before they are put in front of live customers. At this point, they just all felt lazy because they didn't actually want to do their job, but they need to just be respectful and move on with their day. Went into this Joann Fabrics today to buy a yard of vinyl fabric. There was hardly anyone in there. I asked a woman, working in the sewing machine department (who had no customers) where the vinyl fabric was and she pointed to the corner. I finally found something that I thought could work (with absolutely no help) and when I went to have it cut I put it on a counter. When another older woman came to cut the fabric she scolded me for putting it on the wrong counter (how would I know?) and then wouldn't help me figure out how much I needed when I had the old piece right there. REALLY? Seems that would be her job there. She was rude, disrespectful and impatient with me. The part I didn't understand is that THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE IN THE STORE! If Publix or Home Depot had the same customer service they would be out of business! It was a 45 minute drive for me to get there and I will not be back. read more

I have never written a negative review about a business, but my experiences at the Joanne Fabric in Sanford, has encouraged me to share and inform others. The staff at this store is clearly in need of training. I have visited this site many times and every visit I experience poor customer service. The staff is incredibly unprofessional, downright rude, and generally condescending. I always feel like I'm bothering employees when I have a question about where to find something in the store. It came to the point where I just stopped asking, and tried to find and figure things out myself. The staff generally seems to ignore customers and always seem irritated when they have to do their jobs. Based on the behavior of the manager and sales associates at this location, it amazes me that their doors are still open. The Sanford Joann Fabrics is closest to me, since I live in Lake Mary. However, I would rather drive to a different store, farther away, and less convenient so that I might have a positive experience with friendly, professional staff, who don't mind assisting their customers.
