Three days later he called me personally to say that he would be happy to be my PCP......and he remains so to this day as both myself and my wife's PCP. His nurses and office staff are outstanding as well. He is smart, articulate, caring and most of all a fantastic listener. He takes a very "down to earth" approach to everything and will explain anything that needs explaining until you completely understand him. As just one example of his above and beyond caring......My wife was in hospital for a problem completely unrelated to any of Dr. Tacks provided services, yet he found time to visit her in hospital two separate times while she was there. This man should be used as the prototype for all Physicians. My only regret is that I didn't connect with him much earlier in my life. He truly is something special.

Here's one example: When a doctor disappeared from the practice without notice, they were singularly unhelpful in finding anyone to re-issue the prescriptions I depend on. FINALLY someone called me back and offered me an appt. When I showed up for the appt, no record of it. The appt was a morning one, and I showed up needing to use the restroom. But they would not let me use the restroom, even though I had been to this practice multiple times, because I did not have an appt on the record for THAT DAY. No matter who screwed up the appt time, me or them, there is no excuse for treating me in this humiliating and belittling way. Find a different practice.

I'm a current patient at this office. I was so excited to see that there is a practice that offers…read more24/7 midwife coverage, however currently this isn't true. The office has only 1/2 of the midwife staff available for deliveries and despite them working overtime there are still times when no midwife is available, so now weeks before my due date there is a chance I won't get the midwife delivery that brought me to this practice. The midwives I've seen are very good, they answer questions honestly and do not rush appointments, I've had a midwife sit with me for over an hour discussing my birth. There is never more than a 10 minute wait at either office, although I find that often times it is very hard to get all my appointments made at this office and if I want to see a midwife rather than an OB I have had to drive to Rhinebeck for several appointments. My one complaint other than them being currently short-staffed is that test result are nearly impossible to get aside form office visits. The only way to contact the office is through the automated phone system (very annoying and also true of when you are in labor). If you miss the callback you're SOL and must start over with the automated system. Test result posted to the Patient portal take weeks to be updated and in my experience have only been posted after I've already waited for my next appointment and spoken to the midwife about the results. I think that it's wrong to make patients wait for weeks to get results from something as simple as a diabetes screening when this can have such a big impact on the pregnancy. Overall I would chose this practice again assuming they are able to hire in more midwives to live up to the claim of it being a 50/50 practice.
