Four stars for the service because the staff were really friendly but three for everything else. I guess I have never been inside a Joe & The Juice before even though I've definitely bought from them at the airport. Located in the middle of Mount Vernon it's a big space. My juice that I got was close to $15, which was kind of insane if not at an airport, but I needed a place to work before an event I had near the area. They are pretty strict about the bathroom usage here I really had to pee and they made me buy some even though I was already going to buy something before I even went to the restroom. Definitely not a destination, but if you need somewhere to work, this is a decent spot - I was there close to closing, and it did smell like burnt coffee, FYI. read more

Saw these all over NYC, but ended up trying it in DC. Got the matcha latte and boy it screams MATCHA! I usually order drinks half sweet, but I decided to drink it the way it came. I was surprised by how unsweet it was and almost asked for sweetener. However, I decided to drink the rest as is and I'm glad I did because it felt healthier in the end. Under $6 for a grande size is pretty reasonable. The interior at this location was spacious and had aesthetically pleasing chairs and sofas. The only thing I can really comment on is the acai bowl so far since that's the only item I ordered. It was way more nutty than I thought it was going to be, so if you enjoy nuts & acai, I would definitely recommend their acai bowl! It also had raisins in it. Ordered my food online and it was ready by the time I got there -- a super speedy pickup process around a Thursday at lunchtime. My first thought upon entering was "Wow! This place is so cozy and aesthetic!" I got the viral Tunacado sandwich (of course, of course) and was overall simply whelmed. Not over, not under, just whelmed. It was a standard tuna sandwich with tomatoes, pesto, avocado, possibly some dill -- all between two pieces of well toasted flat bread. I took a quick trip to this shop actually by accident while looking for another store. I'm glad I came! It was quiet and that could be because I came during the middle of the day. I tried the Stress Down juice and was shocked that it was made in a blender with ice. It wasn't thick like a smoothie, so I guess it is still a juice. It was not strained. I enjoyed it though, but I could've used a warning because it was a little frothy. The carrot cake is amazing! So much flavor and moisture packed into such a little cake! The frosting is great!! The service was ok. They didn't talk much or explain much. I was hoping to be a little introduced to the store seeing as though I've never been here before. I was very pleasantly surprised with this place! I thought this would be just like Jamba Juice or Blenders, for my SoCal friends, where you just pop in, get a super large sugary drink, there's little to no place to sit so you just leave. Maybe some locations are like that, but not this Joe and the Juice. It was so clean, spacious, had outlets, nice bathrooms, good music and orders came out quickly. I got an espresso over ice which came in the most adorable little cup ever and was very tasty. I also got a small Rebuild protein shake which had avocado and chocolate protein. It was a very generous size Small, delicious plant protein with great consistency and I was full for hours after enjoying both. The wifi was strong and the environment made for a great remote work hub. I would recommend for students, as well, as it's very affordable and there's room for groups to meet for study sessions. They serve juices, smoothies, protein shakes, coffee and latte variations, wellness shots, omelettes, acai bowls, toasts and a variety of paninis. Pretty much anywhere in DC, especially the Chinatown area, I would park in a garage for the day and walk. These streets are not parking friendly but everything is relatively in walking distance. While this isn't a "must see while in DC" I would recommend if you're in the area and need a place to work/study or grab a quick healthy juice or shake. read more

I actually really like how the place is set up and all of their artwork featured. Their couch section is really nice too! I got the Green Shield and the juice was good but not for $10, I felt it was a little watered down. I love the ambiance of the place, however, which is why I'm giving it for 4 stars. I stopped by in the morning because I wanted to start my morning with a health kick. $7.42 - the cost for one teeny tiny cup of 3 juiced up fruits/veggies (this is the smallest size).. $30-60 is what it would cost to buy a cheap juicer on amazon.. instead of buying a 12oz juice for $7.42 here (even just once a week), it would be way more cost saving and efficient to buy a juicer and your own fruits & veggies. I will say the menu has lots of options & there's a great variety, but there's nothing special about what they're offering here. Unless you're in a hurry or visiting from out of town - there's no reason to be spending $10 on a basic juice or smoothie you could easily make at home. I stopped in to grab a quick coffee to go. A Baked Joint was full and we had the little babe in the car so I ran in to grab a drip coffee and a latte (they didn't have tea obviously but that would have been my go to). The space is very midcentury modern. Its pretty cozy and I took some time taking it in while I waited for my order. The only thing that threw me off was that there were no place to throw anything away near where you prep your coffee. I had to wander around looking for where to discard the sugar packets and stirrer afterwards. The staff is pretty friendly but when I first came in they were a little busy getting things in order so I was left a little confused by the menu. I ended up waiting a long time just for a drip coffee and a latte considering I was the only one in there. I also thought about ordering some food but given that juice seemed to be their thing, I didn't bother ordering anything and didn't want to wait any longer. I was also not trying to pay an arm and a leg for avocado toast or an omelet especially since we needed to make it quick. I wish there were some things to grab to go. It is a bit pricey and I probably would only make my way over here if I was craving a juice since there are tons of coffee shops everywhere. I only wish Joe & the Juice was a little less expensive, a bit faster, and maybe sell some to-go options. read more

It takes a lot for me to leave a negative review, but blatant discrimination and refusal of service because their store policy doesn't allow dogs: including SERVICE DOGS? It was my first time in the store to get a cup of coffee with my trained service animal and a friend. half way across the lobby, the bar manager got my attention tellingvme dogs are not allowed and I needed to get my dog out of the store. I corrected her telling here she is legally only allowed to ask if it is a service dog (notifying her that he is), followed by what tasks he's trained to do. I was cut off and she reinforced it was store policy: No Dogs, and I needed to remove my dog. I chose to ignore and simply order my beverage and pay for it. At this time she went to get another coworker to help reinforce the no dog policy! I re-explained anti discrimination of service animals, also notifying him of the tasked trained to do. Because I wouldn't not back down, they then called the cops. After waiting calmly for my drink , for some time, I was informed again I had to get out of the store, and was then informed my drinks would not be made. The bar manager continued to raise her voice to begin screaming and slamming her hand in the bar, which is when I followed up by calling the police myself! The entire staff refused to give me any of the names of the people involved in the discrimination. Once the police arrived and took statements, I was informed that I did nothing wrong and told this is a standard occurrence with many DT businesses. I have never felt so hummiated and small in my life! And for this sort of blatant disrespect and discrimination in our nation's capital: this company should be ashamed of themselves! Joe and the Juice... Okay, so I have a really, REALLY soft spot in my heart for Joe and the Juice. They started as a chain in Copenhagen, Denmark where my wife and I had our honeymoon. This place was a favorite of ours for an afternoon snack - so much so that we made up a theme song for it. Yea, we're those people. Fast Forward 1 year, while the wife and I are in town celebrating our anniversary, and lo and behold... Joe. And. The. Juice. Yes. So, while the environment was a bit different than it's Danish counterpart (a lot of Danes are out and about at all times of the day and this place was empty), the juices were the same, the yogurt was excellent and not sweetened, and good coffee. Service was a tiny bit standoffish, but not bad. Prices were comparable to the ones in Denmark, it's not cheap, but it's not Clean Juice. This is a treat. It was a great way to end our 1 year anniversary trip, and we're so happy to know that some of our honeymoon has made it over into the States for us to enjoy. read more
