They took her phobia of things being dropped into/stuck into her eyes in stride and calmed her when she started crying from fear. The process was really quite stressful for her and the staff was so understanding. We almost never had to wait more than 10-15 minutes even at their busiest past the scheduled appointment time. Their office is comfortable and beautifully decorated. All the equipment is state of the art. A side note, while Dr. Lee was gracious with a great "bedside manner" one time Dr. Lee wasn't available when my mother had to come in before her next scheduled follow-up, and she saw Dr. Hurst. He was very abrupt in his manner, with no smile and a bit of condescending attitude at our questions. So, one star knocked off because of him. :p

I called and ask why and they said they did 2 exams. A contact and a comprehensive. I have went to eyedoctors for years doing the same thing every year and never had I had to pay this much . Not sure why because the insurance has not changed. I never been told that I have to have 2 different exams and obviously since I did not know this the Dr did not talk about it either.

He was dry, dismissive, seemed uninterested in what I was feeling or going through with my eye, and overall lacked compassionate bedside manner. I hadn't found a new eye doctor since moving to Rockwall, but I already had a diagnosis and needed updated meds and someone to assure me I wasn't dying or going blind, lol! After waiting over half an hour for him to come out of his office, I did the majority of the talking and he barely responded. He gave me little to no reassurance or empathy, just a new script and sent me on my way. I left disappointed and still in search of a new local eye doctor.

My husband has dealt with red eye flare ups on and off for years (as early as 2013). We went to eye doctors in the past when things got really bad and he would get prescribed a steroid eye drop that usually helped right away. We were told it may be allergy related or due to dry eye. Last week things flared up and he called into work. We were able to get in for an appointment right when they opened. I thought it would be better than going to an urgent care and that he must be really good if he was recommended. We paid a $50 copay and gave as much info as we could to the assistant. Dr Safar spent 5 minutes with us and barely asked any questions. He looked at the computer and said my husband must have pink eye. He gave my husband an antibiotic ointment for the eyes and rushed us out, spraying Lysol on everything and just treating us like we were walking disease. We were still walking out of the front door and he not so subtly whispered to the receptionist, "Lysol EVERYTHING." As a nurse, I was appalled by his bedside manner. I want to stress that my husband has NEVER been diagnosed with pink eye. And I have never "caught" pink eye from him. He used the ointment exactly as directed for three days. His eyes did not improve at all. My husband asked me to call and ask if Dr Safar could prescribe the steroid eyedrops and I was told he would have to go back for follow up appointment and pay another copay for that to happen. My husband refused to go back after how we were treated. Even if he wanted to, his schedule makes it difficult to take another day off around the holidays. We are now going to pay out of pocket for a specialty on call eye doctor to see him and hope that we are listened to this time. As I sat in Dr Safar's lobby I really felt confident that I did the best thing for my husband. He was educated in Texas and went to SMU where my brother goes to school. I now feel terrible that I wasted my husband's time and that he is not better. We have been managing best we can with over the counter moisturizing eye drops and it seems to help relieve some of the issues for now. We also have appointments in the future with an allergist and ophthalmology specialists at UT Southwestern.

Dr. S provided a better Rx and even personally called the pharmacy to make sure they had it. Within 48 hours my husband had some much needed relief from his eye pain and Dr. S even went above and beyond to follow up for 3 days (including Sunday) to make sure he was good. You really can't find that kind of service anymore.

If you don't believe me, just look it up on Yahoo reviews (unfortunately, they deleted my original review - I guess I was too brutally honest). I went here in 2009 and booked an appt for both me and my son as new patients. They are located in a strip center and my first impression walking into the place was that it looked nice. When we arrived, the receptionist/hag working at the front desk didn't even greet us with a smile or seemed glad to have new business walking in the door. In fact, she didn't even say hello - I had to introduce myself and let her know that I was a new patient there for my 4:00 appt. She just handed me two patient forms to fill out and went back to looking down at whatever she was doing (most likely reading a book). We were the only ones in the place and as luck would have it, I started to have an uncontrollable coughing attack and you would think this person would've had the common courtesy to say "Are you OK? Do you need some water? There's some water down the hallway". Hell no, she just looked up like she was annoyed and went back to looking down. I thought, "Wow - how rude." Then the doctor breezes in through the front door wearing a Hawaaiian shirt, shorts and sandals like he was just hanging out at the lake. You would think he'd wear a white lab coat or at the very least, a dress shirt to at least give the appearance of being professional. He must have been on a smoke break because once we walked back to the exam room, he reeked of cigarette smoke! It was disgusting! The first thing you notice when you go into the exam room is the old, circa 1980's antiquated equipment complete with missing paint on the wear spots where your chin would rest. While he's examining me, Ms. No Personality sticks her head in to tell him she's going to run an errand which translates to he's now doing double-duty covering the phones. He stops no less than three separate times to answer the phone that is located right behind my head while he's doing the eye exam! Then my favorite part of the exam... you know how when you get your eyes examined and they have you read the eye chart on the wall and they hand you a little instrument called a phoropter to cover one eye? I guess they don't have those at this place because he tore off a sheet of paper from his scratch pad, folded it in half, and told me to use that to cover my eye! Are you f'ing kidding me???? At that point I made up my mind that I would not be subjecting my son to this type of exam. Not only that, but while I was sitting in another room "No Personality" has returned and walks down the hallway and looks into the room where the doctor was having me look through different machines and this bitch actually made a frown face in front of my son when she looked in on us! Turns out she's the wife of the doctor. How else can you get away with such rude mannerisms? She must have jealousy or insecurity issues when it comes to female patients that are younger or more attractive than her. And she probably just hates life in general. After I said I would be taking my son back to his old eye doctor, this guy must of figured out that I was less than impressed. I took out my credit card ready to pay for services rendered and he said no payment was needed. I called my insurance company the next morning just to make sure no claim had been filed. After all was said & done, I went out to my car and just sat there in disbelief and could not believe what had just transpired. I literally wanted to go home and take a shower to wash the experience away.

I had to switch clinic since I moved to Plano so when I ask if I can move to the Richardson location, they went ahead and scheduled me. It took me three months to finally get that appointment only for them to tell me that they do not have the equipment in that Richardson location for my case, Three months later, they rescheduled me back to the Rockwall location only for them to tell me the day before that they do not have my referral. Referrals take months to acquire. I called a couple months back to check if they got what they needed and they said they did. However, a day before my appointment they conveniently told me that they don't have the referral. Because of their administrative error, I am over a year due to get my eyes checked. They clearly don't value their customer's time so I went ahead and ask my primary care doctor to refer me to adifferent Eye Doctor.

She told me that if doctor insists on the procedure would b done and I would pay $59. All ophthalmologists over last 30 years do refraction testing as part of routine eye exam- but they do not charge anything, unless you requet Prescription, in which case they charge $25.00 only. Thus this organization is CHEAT and GREEDY. I went to local Walmart to fill prescription for refraction error. I cannot see it clearly. It could be problem with my prescription given to me by the lady at Key- Whitman or Walmart not doing the job properly. 3. When I sat in exam room, a lady walks in- without looking at me or saying hello or nothing. Seats in front of computer, reviews my information as I filled out in waiting room. She did not know that I was there for diabetic eye checkup. She expressed surprise. I asked her to look at my answer re: diabetes. Then she found it and order retinal scan- which she did. The Doctor was nice. I had problems with insurance company's processing my claim. I asked for information from local office in Fort Worth Texas. I am still waiting for it. I never received a statement, except one text message regarding amount I owed. On 12/4/ 25 they sent me a collection letter notice, as I- did not respond to their frequent attempts to collect money. - A BOLD FACE LIE. We tried to contact office, both locally and in Dallas, without any success. They also do not respond to you emails. This business will never see me at any time in my life.
