Located just southwest of downtown between midtown and broadway, The Gulch is an expansive, but equally quaint part of the city that is classic mixed use of residential and retail. Main reason you may find me in The Gulch is for food. There is a solid variety of eateries from local casual spots to more established dining, sandwich shops and even a few spots for dessert. While that's my reason, most tourists find their way to The Gulch for the famous wing mural next to Biscuit Love. Got to get them wings while in Nashville! Outside of the food and wings, there are lots of local and chain businesses and services in the area including self-care, medical offices and of course clothing boutiques. Additionally, Noble Park is in the middle of The Gulch. It's a really cool urban space that features a good green space, seating, music and a water wall. It is also host to markets and small events throughout the year. Parking is plentiful in The Gulch, buts its all paid. There are garages, lots and street parking. Overall, The Gulch is a cool area of the city that I don't find myself in too often, but when I do, I always enjoy it!

Sean Youngers has undertook for his Eagle Scout project having what he called a pleasant pantry in front of the Joelton Hope Center Thrift Store. In this simple wooden box are food staples for those who need it. It appears to be by the honor system and people either put food in or if they need it, to take some food. Inside the box was quote a bit of food. There are times where we can see only0 the bad in the world, but this rainy evening, I saw that there are still good people changing the world with their good deeds. I applaud this young man and it is in this lesson that I hope we all see that we can indeed change the world by a simple good deed.

Just north of the capital and the Farmers Market and South of Metro Center, it's a wonderful neighborhood worthy of a leisurely afternoon stroll or a visit to one of it's lovely restaurants or shops. You will know you are there when you find row housing and brick sidewalks. The Germantown Cafe, Monells, and new hot dog place are among worthy contenders for your visit. They also have an Oktoberfest with lots of beer, polka, and kraut which always attracts a crowd. The neighborhood itself has exploded in the last few years so there are wonderful options for places to live there as well. It is the only neighborhood with some stunning views of the capital in addition to the downtown skyline.

That includes Music Row! Music Row was established in 1955 and since then it's been the epicenter for music. Major record labels and recording studios are located here. Strolling the district and touring the studios is a great way to learn more about the music industry. There are also great spots to grab dinner or lunch.

This unassuming building has a historical connection to one of the most infamous gang of outlaws to…read moreterrorize and rob the Wild West, the James Gang, led by brothers Frank and Jesse James. To realize that this infamous gang and probably the most well known outlaws from that bygone era, Jesse James, stayed in the Nashville area is pretty cool and to stand before this building I can almost see how it could have been back in the tumultuous time when America was still healing from the Civil War and grudges were often settled with a six shooter. I love these little spots where history was defined and created, where the world would be defined by moments and people.

So it was not surprise to me and my buddy when. Discovering the nashville scene for public art that we came across a few murals of the music starlet. Of the pieces we came across featuring Dolly this was the best looking one. Very vibrant and colorful and just well done by the artist. Overall cool piece and not much to dislike. I mean who can dislike Dolly Parton? It's pretty much impossible to not respect the person she is even if someone isn't a fan of the music.

Massive mural on the side of a popular bar in the Nashville area that features several country music superstars of current and yesteryear. It was fun for us to try and see who all we could name and try to figure out the ones we weren't sure on. Overall a great mural that captures the essence of the downtown Nashville honky tonk and country music scene.
