5 points is a neighborhood of Nashville Tennessee that features plenty of popular and cool eateries but also boasts an amazing public art scene. My buddy and we're visiting nashville for the weekend and stopped in for a bite to eat at the area popular "I dream of Weenie" and decided to walk around the neighborhood where we discovers what had to be at least 30-50 pieces of public art. Me and him both enjoy checking out murals and sculptures so it was very fun walk and place to explore. Overall a very nice neighborhood with plenty to see and do along with some cool places to grab a bite to eat. read more

Visited for 3 nights but never could quite leave the area. Left for 4 hours of tourist stuff and returned and remained here. The beer, craft drinks, dive/classy bars, DJ's, live music, friendly patrons, yummy food, houses. Different events, acts, specials all around male one night not like the rest! Smokey bars, not smokey bars. Spreading out are more varieties of cuisines and even a meadery called HoneyTree. Go there, too. All in walking/scooter distance. Go, relax, open up, enjoy! read more

Five points is a great little spot especially when the weather is nice to bring the pups and walk your friends around. Today in front of I dream of weenie the Girl Scouts were selling cookies if that's not east Nashville I don't know what it is. I would like to see metro whoever is in charge of cleaning the five points area up do a better job picking up during the week as well as on the weekends as the hipsters tend to trash the area with a lot of the local bar is open till 3 AM. I always feel lucky that I know I cannot walk to five points as it is only about a half mile from my house and it's a great neighborhood for pops and people are like. Five Points is one of East Nashville's most condensed neighborhoods and also holds a large percentage of its nightlife. The main section or "Greater 5 points" area is situated where several streets (including Woodland St and Main St) come together, uniquely forming a pentagon. One can only conclude this is where the neighborhood derived its moniker. All of the businesses found here are locally owned and represent a wide variety of Nashville talent and flavor. There is a small collection of stores that can be found here including a bicycle shop, an organic market (Turnip Truck), a wine store (Woodland Wine Merchant) and a record store (The Groove). There are several antique stores and an art gallery/community art center. There's even a small tattoo parlor and a recording studio here. 5 Points is home to many popular local restaurants that span a variety of cuisines. You can eat Boston style seafood and sushi at Battered N Fried, have some fancy cafe style food at Marche, or enjoy a romantic evening at award winning Margot. If you're interested in lighter fare you can hit up Z's Deli for a sandwich, eat a pizza at Pizza Real or grab a hot dog from I Dream of Weenie. There are plenty of bars here if you're looking for a place to grab a drink or hang out with friends. You can drink a wide variety of beer at the ever popular 3 Crow Bar, enjoy the sunset on Red Door East's patio, and watch the game or play some at Beyond the Edge. If bars aren't your thing, you can enjoy a glass of wine at Rumor's Wine Bar, grab a cup of coffee at Bongo Java or eat some delicious ice cream at Pied Piper Creamery. 5 Points also hosts the popular Tomato Arts Festival in the summer. If you get tired of visiting these places, don't worry, there are plenty of other establishments nearby (including Mad Donna's, the Lipstick Lounge, Rosepepper Cantina, Sweet 16th Bakery and Portland Brew). The surrounding neighborhood is quite expansive and encompasses several schools and parks. As the new duchess I guess i should write a review : ) This is where I live, literally. I'll run you through last Friday just so you can get an idea of what there is to offer. After a brief stopover in Riverside Village we dropped off the car and walked up to 3 Crow (now with their new fancy-shmancy outdoor bar, loves it!) I ordered my usual bushwhacker grenade and posted up at a table inside. Yes we actually got one on a Friday, it was a-mazing! Then we cut out around midnight and walked straight through Five Points to 308. They just redid their menu (more on that later.) Karoake anyone? Lipstick Lounge has got you crooning! Art? The Building! Patio? Red Door East! Bustin' a move? 5 Spot! Family fun? Grassy Knoll movie night! When it's not nighttime you can usually find me at the East Side Turnip Truck, Green Wagon, Hip Zipper, periodically running with East Nasty or walking through the hood for some exercise. Also now that the new artist co-op is up you know I'll be at Alegria and Goodbye Girls. Manscaping? Wax has got you covered, or bare, (you can have whatever you liiikkkkeee......) Need a new do or spa treatment we have countless salons and the Magnolia spa. Tattoos? Yes we have that too. Do you need centering? Yoga your butt off at Kali Yuga Yoga. Once you are prepped for the night feel free to eat at Marche, Drifters, Far East, Nuvo Burrito, Boston Batter'd, Mad Donnas, Rumours East and the newest edition, Five Points Pizza! Tried your stuff at the tomato festival, sauce is on, but the crust was a little too thick to be NY Pizza. Close though, closest in the South. I'm looking forward to trying your stuff for real! Dessert? Pied Piper of course! No one starves in 5 Points! Oh and finally, how could I forget, Woodland Wine Store! Probably my favorite part of Five Points. 5 stars every time I walk in there. They are sexist. It's 12:11am. Their sign says they close at 11pm. They had 8 customers inside drinking and eating beer. When 3 people left (all the girls) my friend and I entered to wait for our pizza (and do nothing else). As we sat on the stools the workers yelled (yes yelled and pointed to the finger) at us to get out. I have never been treated like this from any restaurant in my life. It wasted extremely upsetting and felt unbelievably sexist. They said nothing to the males that were still inside. Who yells in general at customers to get out? We didn't know we weren't allowed inside the restaurant, a simple "hey sorry, we are closed can you call air outside" would have sufficed. read more

In a 3 block radius, 5 Points contains several bars (5 Spot, 3 Crow, Red Door), a coffee shop (Bongo East), a vintage shop (The Hip Zipper), a bike shop (Eastside Cycles), a hot dog stand (I Dream of Weenie), a great wine shop (Woodland Wine Merchant), and a natural/organic food shop that features many local products (The Turnip Truck). I don't get it. On our last night in Nashville we decided to check out the extremely highly praised East Nashville. People told us it was like the brooklyn of nashville. Very gentrified and unfortunately very hipster. Those aren't necessarily good things but at least to me it sounded like this place would at least be interesting.... "This is it?" This literally could have been any small downtown area for any town in America. A little intersection with a few bars and a few restaurants...and that's it. And honestly the bars were your typical dive, biker bar type. Nothing ultra unique or different. And! We were there on a Saturday night!! Haha and it was dead! All of the bars were very smokey too. I can live with that but the bars were just not special at all! Food was good. I liked my ribs. But to think we almost decided to stay in east nash...that would've been a mistake Maybe during the warmer months this place is better? read more

There isn't another intersection in this city that even comes close to Five Points. None of them! We have construction at 11th and Fatherland. We have construction at 8th and Woodland. We have a new bar/brewery/restaurant opening nearly every week in our neighborhood. Traffic is getting rough on Shelby Avenue... They will need to add a stop light at 10th and Shelby - now...... It's nearly impossible to get through that intersection any time of day..... In spite of the traffic, in spite of all the construction, in spite of the shortage of parking..... I still wouldn't live anywhere else. read more

When in Nashville.....came for vacation from Richmond, VA and are staying in a B&B in East Nashville and were told to walk down and try this place. After reading so many great reviews we had to try it. No wait on a Sunday at 11:30. Awesome pizza and friendly service. We sat at the bar and Stuart was fabulous! She serves pizza and drinks with a friendly smile and great attitude. The pizza has a wonderful very thin but slightly crispy crust with homemade sauce. 5 Points is a PRIME example of gentrification at work. What's that phenomena called, you know the one where one group of people is living simultaneously next to another group of people but not even truly noticed or acknowledged because of socio-econonmic, cultural and often racial differences. I swear there's a word for it or maybe I'm thinking of the chapter on aboriginals in Australia in Bill Bryson's book. Anyway, that's East Nashville on the NOSE. Soon it will be like Venice Beach (where I grew up), with a gigantic Whole Foods and Julia Robert's will buy a house and think she's part of the 'hood. And property prices will go up and up and up and all those musicians that moved here and made 5 Points what it is today will be pushed out, and all those invisible folks will be a part of history no one will really know about unless you go rooting around in the past. For now though, it's got a little something for everyone with that little special weirdness that you won't get anywhere else in Nashville, even in other trendy neighborhoods. I have to admit I don't think 5 Points means as much to me now as it may when I've moved away from Nashville, then it will have that special place in my heart like let's say the Arcata Plaza. I also will have to admit that when I first drove through the intersection I thought, 'that's it?' and 'omg I'm going to die because this intersection makes no sense to me' at the same time. It's not just about what's on the 5 Points corners but what's around the intersection also as the other reviews state. I feel like NOW is the time to visit if you're someone who keeps reading about East Nashville in the news but also the more of you who come and stay, the more this neighborhood will never again be what it is now, so stay away! read more
