This guy stretched my project of initially agreed one and half months project to total 4 months, claiming he "spent a lot of time on details". Third, he will use materials you paid to his other work. As most customers don't have the knowledge of the time needed to accomplish certain tasks, you need to pay attention to find contractors who are holding work ethics and standards. Most importantly you need to find someone who has the record and cares about his reputation. This contractor has none and cares nothing.

I'm not sure if he had a state license to charge over $500 - his invoice didn't show it and I didn't ask him (my bad). Although, his invoice does threaten the potential client with a statement regarding dealing with "his attorney" if he's not paid for his job - either the 6% of the total fee if the client backs out of the agreement or fails to pay the total fee.
