Very rushed and dismissive. Says one thing and does not follow through with what her suggestion is. Asked if I had any questions then goes ahead and speaks the nurse before I can say anything then walked away. I was told to basically suck up my pain and stay home it seems like she just wants to free up beds and not have anyone waste her time. Not meant for high risk pregnancies or pregnancies involving multiples. Insisted i did not have pre-eclamspia despite my entire body being swollen like a puffer fish. She insisted that my swelling was due to weight gain because i gained more than 40 pounds for a twin pregnancy. Bedside manner non exsistent . Office during pregnancy was okay but it has taken me weeks to get medical records to respond to my requests . I infact did have pre-eclampsia and had to contact the medical director . Dismissive/rude/does not care. Its been a year since i gave birth and i still cannot get over how badly i was treated and how my symptoms were ignored in my high risk mo/di twin pregnancy. Her ignoring me was written off as her having a hogh workload. If she has a hogh workload, she should not seek new patients. I had dr gray deliver my twin babies and he was great. read more

Dr. Su was so inconsiderate, did not listen to me, did not take into consideration my bloodwork, personal experience, and my gyno's approval for IUD replacement. I drove from a long distance because we had moved just before my appointment after receiving an APPROVAL LETTER for the service. Yet, I get there and she tells me she will not replace the IUD because I am over 50. I hate to tell you Dr. Su, but not everyone over 50 is in menopause like you think. My family history is late menopause, I show ZERO symptoms and my bloodwork seemed to confirm this but despite all this she refused to switch my IUD. I literally cried to her and told her to look at my bloodwork. She coldly replied "that isn't always 100%" Well, neither is her opinion, obviously. I cannot stand this cold doctor who obviously looks at every woman over 50 as old and in menopause. She made me feel she could care less. Then her office had the nerve to bill me!! I already paid a co-pay for absolutely nothing that I should have gotten back. TERRIBLE doctor with ZERO emotion or empathy, and just goes by the book because likely, that is the little she actually knows. read more

Dr Su did the surgery for my second birth, it went smooth and I'm really thankful for her awareness of my previous delivery record. She decided to have my surgery 1 day early than my actual date, and I can't be more grateful for her decision. My baby is now 7.5 months old, she's the jewel of our family. Dr su was on call the day we went to St Jude for labor and delivery. She's not very friendly if not cold. Which isn't a good thing when she's the obgyn who delivers your baby. She wasn't very friendly to the labor and delivery nurses either. Just super cold and heartless. Never bother to ask if I had any questions. No information was given to me, I had to asked how bad was the tear etc. I don't think she introduced herself either, the nurse introduced her to us. read more

Dr. Su delivered both of my babies via c-section, and I cannot praise her enough. I had a pre-existing condition and she worked closely with the hemotologist to keep an eye on my platelet levels. She was always very informative and always took the time to answer my questions thoroughly. After my c-sections, nurses would look at my incision and say "Oh yeah, that's a Dr. Su incision...very neat and clean". My appointments were always on time, or even earlier if I got there early. I'm actually really disappointed in myself, in addition to the care from this physician. After reading reviews, everything makes sense. Initially she assisted in the delivery of my first child, as she was the scheduled physician. When I got checked in I didn't know what to expect as it was my first delivery. Upon check in they asked whether epidural would be needed. She belittled me by boasting to the anesthesiologist about how she didn't get epidural until after 9cm. I didn't think anything of it, as I'm generally not easily offended. Just slightly unprofessional. Fast forward to my second child, she was the schedule physician post delivery and would be the physician performing circumcision. She was cold when she entered room as though she couldn't be bothered to assist us. She didn't offer any information regarding circumcision. When asked regarding the method she shortly stated she was only trained in the gomco method, without any further clarification. Reluctantly, after some research and discussion with husband we agreed. From that point forward, I have had concerns with the outcome which now has resulted in multiple follow up visits and second opinions. And now being referred to a specialist. Overall I hope to be an advocate for others on choosing a physician and making informed choices. read more

Literally a gifted doctor. She's super responsive, committed to patients and is really talented. I've had two birthing experiences with her both amazing. She isn't overly "cuddly" I think some like to be super fawned on. She is kind and clear which is appreciated. I honestly don't understand any of the negative reviews. Dr Su was on call when I delivered my daughter. She quickly identified that I had a serious complication of pregnancy and proceeded with my care professionally and compassionately. Her expert care made a big difference for me and my daughter, and I am beyond grateful for her care. I have had Dr. Su for over 5 years now. I'm in my 30s and single. No pregnancies. Dr. Su is a good doctor, however she's very busy. She's actually very young and sweet. That's the only reason i was hesitant to have her as my doctor initially...her being young. But I learned she was okay...nothing to really complain about except the long waits especially bc you have to pay for parking at this location in Fullerton. My trick is to see her at the Yorba Linda location. She's only there a certain day...I really didnt want to share this precious info so I've been holding out. The office there is much better and she seems less busy there so you don't feel as rushed. And parking is free!! read more

Dr. Su doesn't really care about my wife. This was her 3rd pregnancy and the 1st 2 was a roller coaster ride for us.. For both pregnancies, my wife was admitted and when discharged, placed on bedrest to be able to make it to full term.. This pregnancy, my wife went to triage was contracting regularly (she was 28 wks) was given medication to stop contractions and was sent home that night and was told to follow up with OB.. She made her appt with Dr. Su and requested if she can be off since she's having contractions at work and does a lot of walking at work. She never took my wife off work and said "it's too early for me to take you off work. Just rest every hour for 15 mins (like that is possible in her field.. She's a nurse)! she went to a different OB (same medical group). As soon after the appt, he took her off work to keep our baby safe.. Why on earth would Dr. Su want something to happen first with the pregnancy before taking her off work? She has 2 histories and my wife has experienced it again and trying not to be admitted and be placed on full bedrest. So find another doctor that cares for you and your baby.. read more

This has been three months coming. let's start with my history. I had 3 miscarriages and 1 infant loss. I lost my daughter to medical negligence in a local OC hospital she passed from Sepsis and pneumonia due to prolonged labor this hospital let my fever run for hours at 100-103.9 refused to give me a c section. after so much loss I gave up, I got pregnant in late January 2019 scared for the life of me and my little bean this time I wanted to take my time maybe not the best idea with my history but I was afraid. I googled I researched and came across Dr. Su I read all her reviews on the hospital website and on yelp and googled. something in my heart kept tugging me her way ... I kept looking and always went back to Dr. Su's profile. my best friend was being seen by another doctor in St. Jude and only encouraged me more to be seen my doctors there I again kept looking already 9 weeks I knew I had to make a decision. I called and wanted Dr. Su but she was booked so I saw Jessica a NP at my first appointment and I was so pleased with her she was so attentive and and answered all my questions. I was already 12 weeks so I had so much to get done and it all got done when it needed, all my questions were answered. Dr. Su straight told me no to an amniocentesis and I'm so glad she did because MAYBE my baby boy wouldn't be here right now. Dr. Su didn't only treat me as a patient she also saw me as human she knew all my worries even if I didn't show it. I opted to get a repeat c section. that day I was so scared I mean scared, while they gave me the spinal block my husband wasn't in the room and I WILL NEVER FORGET Dr. Su holding my hand as I cried from so much fear. Dr. Chung was my anesthesiologist and he is one I will never forget he talked me through it all happening he played music during the surgery he kept me calm and my husband. Dr. Lawson also helped with my c section and I will say it was flawless. with my daughter I felt everything after they pulled her out. with Dr. Su and Dr. Lawson I felt nothing didn't even know she almost had him out. that day was the best day thus far and I'm so pleased with Dr. Su and hope she will deliver my future babies. Side note: St. Jude was just an amazing hospital to deliver at the nurses were so attentive and helped me with breastfeeding, diaper changes (mine not the baby lol) showers, questions. from start to finish all the nurses I am forever grateful for. don't just take my review to make a decision. as someone who has suffered many losses PLEASE review your hospital, doctors, ASK QUESTIONS. my mom had a friend who's daughter wasn't getting good care and she told her about St. Jude & Dr. Su only thing she was really late in her pregnancy took a chance and delivered there and guess who was the on call doctor? So let me just say I made this appt because it was the first available obgyn dr available which was a month and a half out , and dispite reading the negative reviews I still went to give Dr su a chance... so I meet her at the Yourba Linda location, nice looking building kinda weird that the waiting "rooms" are all one long hallways but whatever I'm okay with it . They ask me to arrive 15 mins early to fill out paperwork ( which they said they would email me and they didn't). My appt was at 1pm they were at lunch till 1. Mind you , I'm also on my lunch break. I get there at 1245 as asked and waited. The front desk lady was cool and nice The nurse that brought me back, which was very quick I might add, was cool as well she even laughed with me. Although when we walked in the room the paper on the table I was going to be examined on was dirty from a previous pt. The nurse ripped it off and dragged down a new one without wiping anything down ..... & I'm in the medical field which I had mentioned in my paperwork .... so ik that wasn't right .... She handed me a gown and asked me to change I let nurse know that it's a possibility I could be pregnant do they need my urine (if not I have to go to the bathroom) she said no go right ahead and showed me the bathroom . So i came back and pressed this red button to alert the dr that I'm ready. When she arrived she entered in with a smile and seemed nice . She first asked if I had any questions before doing the well women's exam I said yes I brought out my book and even made a joke about it " don't be alarmed it doesn't have that many" She didn't laugh or say a word . I proceeded with my questions and she gave 1-2 word mostly answers on a lot of them Some she did explain but very bluntly .. Dr su then told me that she sees my history and that I had a pap less than a year ago and that I don't need one because everything looks fine I then told her that I was told by the dr ( who was a male) that they didn't get a clear shot of my cervics but still came back clear . Well yeah I was super uncomfortable at the appt first male dr in my you know what ... I told her that I'm planning on having a baby and that I would like to make sure everything is okay (Hence the reason of my visit) She responded with "I'm an dr & obgyn and know how to read this" I responded with "I'm not saying you don't but that was just what I was told" I was so shocked I couldn't even finish what I wanted to tell her ... my book about pre pregnancy told me to come get checked and make sure everything was good . She kinda was surprised I said something back , I'm guessing most people don't which is dumb because WE pay HER !!!! So from then on it was exam and a couple questions and I could tell she was trying to be better with her responses but It didn't make up for it . I went to Dr. Su as a new patient for a general women's well visit. My schedule was very tight, but they were able to get me in the next day. I went to the Fullerton location which was easy to find and had a large parking structure across the street. Dr. Su was very nice, asked me if I had any concerns and spent time actually listening to me. Overall the appointment was easy and stress free. The wait time was minimal and I was in and out in around 30 minutes. Only minor complaint is I wish they would of validated my parking. Would certainly recommend! read more

Today I had my 6week follow up appointment with Dr Su after having my first baby. If I could give her 100 stars I would. I have been with St Jude health care my entire life and have always had excellent care but Dr Su is on another level. I started seeing her when I was 9 weeks pregnant and she took care of me and my baby all the way through till delivery. She was even the one to deliver my baby! She makes you feel so comfortable and cared for. She's quick to call back when you call the office and leave her a message. She seems like she really does care about her patients and always wants to do what is best. I'm already looking forward to having my next baby so I can see Dr Su and the staff on a monthly basis. Everyone made me feel so comfortable. I am a nurse practitioner and absolutely trust Dr Su with my health and future pregnancies. She's AMAZING. I can't say enough good things about her. read more

Update: I had my second child at St. Jude, and Dr. Su was the on call OB/GYN. At first, I was a bit anxious and upset as I had a bad first experience with her. However, this time around, she was much more friendlier. She didn't make me feel like how I felt the first time around. Her bedside manner changed a lot, and for the better. I just wish this was how she was for my first born's delivery. --------------------- Dr. Su delivered my first born. She was the on call doctor when I went into labor. At first I didn't mind, but when it was time to push, the nurse called her in. After my first push, she asks he nurse in front of me, "Do you need me right now? I have so much charting to do".. The nurse, who was super awesome to me, looked kind of shocked for her to say that, and told her that the baby seemed to be coming soon since the baby was already coming out after one push. Anyway, my baby came out after 25 minutes of pushing, healthy and amazing. Dr. Su was able to come back in time to catch the baby, but I still get frustrated thinking about that instance. read more

Just want to give my own opinions on Dr. Su. She is an excellent doctor, we were trying to get her for previous pregnancy, but we could not and my wife had miscarriage. After the miscarriage, we went and saw Dr. Su, she is more than accomodating to us, answered all of our questions. At times, she could be in a hurry, but that was understandable giving how many patients she had. Now, this pregnancy, we are seeing her again, could not be more excited. There was a mishap in our schedule, but she was again accomodating towards the hospital mistake. read more

Dr. Su was my OB for my second child and I felt very comfortable with her. My second pregnancy was very different then my first. Every time I had a concern she reassured me everything I felt was normal. I called so many times with concerns and Dr. Su always returned my calls the same day. I seen a review here that they do not prescribe birth control which is false. Dr. Su prescribes the pill, and Nuvaring. St. Jude does not allow Dr.'s to give IUD birth controls because of catholic beliefs. If you prefer the IUD she will refer you to a GYN Dr who works for St. Jude but has a practice outside St. Jude. I also had lactation issues while breast feeding and she helped me with that also. I felt that Dr. Su was very knowledgable. She does seem like she is in a rush because she has so many patients but she will answer your questions and return your calls. read more

She was the on call doctor the day I had my emergency c section with my first son at 28 weeks pregnant in 2013, so finding out I was expecting my second I wanted to go with her as my actual doctor rather than who I saw last. When delivering my first son, she was so thorough with me and caring. It's been 4 years since I've seen her. When I came for my first appointment with her this pregnancy, she remembered who I was and my experience. I'm sure she looked at my chart first, but when she came in she literally was like oh I remember you! Which made me feel really secure with choosing her. She addressed all of my concerns even before I asked the questions also at every appointment thus far. My wife almost died under her care a few months ago. My wife had severe morning sickness (hypermesis) - throwing up 6-8x a day and not able to do anything all day. Dr. Su did not take it seriously and would not see her sooner than her first appointment. Before the first appointment, my wife had been to the ER several times already due to dehydration and vomiting, but at the first appointment, it was clear that Dr. Su had not read the ER notes that were sent to her, and they did not even take my wife's vitals in the office at the first appointment. My wife's condition was so severe that she could not eat or move out of her chair most of the day, which eventually led to a pulmonary embolism, which easily could have killed her. It took her months to recover. Dr. Su knew how bad she was before the blood clots, but never warned her about the possibility of blood clots, did not give her the care and attention needed, and was reluctant to prescribe her the anti-nausea drugs she needed. I think that she is negligent... don't go to her! read more

I had my third baby at St. Jude's Medical several years ago and unfortunately for me, Dr. Su was the attending OB on that day. Previously, I had 2 wonderful, drug-free, normal deliveries with my first two babies at UCLA medical but went with St. Jude's because it was closer to home. What a bad mistake that turned out to be. Although the labor and delivery nurses and all other staff at St. Jude's were great, Dr. Su treated me like an inconvenience to her, neglecting me during the entirety of my labor (about 5 hours), then rushing in during that last part (literally to catch the baby). I tore badly because Dr. Su yelled at me to "push, push, push!" when my body wasn't ready. She didn't massage to loosen up the muscles like my previous OBs. Nor did she talk to me calmly during the afterbirth process. She was forceful stitching me up, forcing my legs open and doing her business down there. I asked her, "Can you please give me a moment, I'm just so sensitive right now." But she just kept rushing to finish me up. She told me there's a small tear that will heal on its own but weeks later I realize that it's a sizeable tear, she left unrepaired. It's been years now, but I still have discomfort from that torn area. In total, the time that I saw Dr. Su while I was at St. Jude's was about 30 minutes at most. 10 minutes when I was first admitted into labor and delivery, she did a quick exam and asked me about my birthing plan. Then maybe 20 minutes at most, to catch the baby and stitch me up. I don't even remember a follow up visit from her because that's just how very little she cared about me. I had a stressful delivery experience because of Dr. Su. She gives low-quality care in a high-quality setting. Her bedside manner is cold and abrupt and her main concern is to move you quickly through the system. Consider yourself warned... I don't want anyone else to have to go through what I went through. read more

After waiting almost an hour, Dr. Su came in and impatiently went through a script of what she needed to say to a first-time pregnant woman. Every question I asked seemed annoying to her. I can write so much more about her actions, demeanor, things she said, etc. but the point I want to get across is that no one should be made to feel the way I felt while in her office and still now hours later. This was my first prenatal appointment and unfortunately I will never forget the terrible experience I had. I actually called another doctors office while waiting (for a second time) and switched doctors. It was that bad. A few days later BAM! I got referred to this amazing Women's Center! They do warn you that the wait time to speak with someone is 10-15minutes! I figured since I've waited long enough to get the right help that whats a few extra minutes?! The nurses are extremely warm and kind! They make you feel welcomed over the phone! Usually this place is booked 4-6 weeks in advanced! Somehow St. Jude was looking over me and their was an immediate opening with Dr. Joanna Su! This office is tricky to find since its in the Providence building and is hard to find in itself! This office is extremely prompt and call you back in as soon as you sign in. They don't make you wait forever! Everything is computerized so all your info is on the computer and if your already in the SJHG your info is already there for them! Everybody was so friendly and welcoming from beginning to end! They genuinely care and want to make sure your okay no matter what issue you have. Dr. Su is a very good listener {better than most MD's}, her goal is to pin-point the issue and get you on track! She heard all my concerns and switched my medicine to get me on the right path! Only thing I don't like is that they don't validate! -__-. You have to go to Peet's Coffee and spend 2.00 then get free validation -__-. Dr. Su was asked to interpret an urine culture test for me bc my obgyn wasn't in the office. I had been in bed with constant pain in my lower back and stabbing pain when I urinate for 4 days! Plus I have a history of kidney stones. All Dr. Su could say was that I didn't have an UTI and should go to ER if I'm in pain. I sensed bc I wasn't her patient she didn't want to take the time to treat me and was being lazy. My obgyn called me today and said, whatever the doctor told you yesterday was wrong. You have an UTI and should be treated with antibiotics. I'm mind boggled with Dr. Su's lazy and irresponsible attitude toward a 37 week pregnant woman. Dr Su has been my OB during 2 pregnancies, and I find her to be very informative and attentive. I feel very comfortable asking questions. I have never felt like she was rushing, and I always feel like she gives me plenty of time and listens to me intently. I have called with questions and always received returned calls. She is very professional and easy to talk to. She does not come across as overly warm, but instead seems more serious, matter of fact and professional. On all 3 visits,  we have received good care from the doctor, although we have been treated with rudeness and unprofessionalism by her front office. I originally tried to get into a different OB given some of the negative reviews for Dr. Su on Yelp. However, after an early miscarriage and trip to the ER, Dr. Su was the OB on call to follow up with me. During that experience, I thought she was patient, kind and sympathetic. Therefore, when I got pregnant again months later I decided I was going to go to Dr. Su. Since I had had the previous miscarriage, Dr. Su was quick to send me in for some early blood draws to make sure my HCG was climbing. She also allowed me to schedule my first ultrasound earlier than they normally are (7 weeks vs 9 or 10). Dr. Su would always ask if I had questions at the appointments and never seemed to be in a rush. She is very matter of fact but always professional and I could tell she cared for her patients. I would recommend Dr. Su to those looking for a quality OB. read more

Okay so last year I went in to see Dr. Su since my doctor referred me to her. She was pretty nice and the people up at the front seemed nice but really didn't get to interact with them much. I go into the room and Dr. Su comes in and asks me what I am here for I tell her I am having irregular periods and would like to get on birth control. She says okay lets do an exam and then we can talk about the birth control. So we do the exam and then after she says okay well I would like to do some blood work and I want to do a vaginal ultrasound to make sure there are not any masses or anything that I am not able to feel. I told her I would rather not do the blood work because I just had some done not too long ago and I am anemic and when I give blood it literally puts me under for the whole day because I am so weak. She then says well we need to get it done and hands me a sheet of paper. So I set up an apt for the ultrasound and to see her after and then I have a death in the family and I called and told them to please cancel my apt because I will not be able to come in...do you think they canceled it? No, so then I get charged for the apt that I asked them to cancel and on top of that when I wanted to come in a couple months later they told me that they only had an opening 3 weeks later and so I asked can she please just put me on birth control until then because I am about to just end my period so I needed to start it. They ask her and she says no because how do I know she will come in she bailed on her last apt! I did not bail I canceled and they didn't do their job and cancel it! Then after 2 days of going back and forth I find out from a front desk representative that they do not give out birth control because of her religion! On top of all of this I asked to speak with Dr.Su about 5 times and she would not get on the phone with me... She told her assistants that she would give me a call back after she is done seeing patients I did not get one phone call! She is very rude and as I see it a liar because she never said that they would not give me birth control you work at a women's center! So I nicely told the assistant to let her know I would see her in a couple months when I am pregnant because she wouldn't prescribe me birth control! I ended up going to Whittier woman's center and got an exam, pap smear and the whole shebang anddddd they prescribed me birth control without taking my blood or doing an ultrasound! Andddd it was free! So basically if you want a gyno do not go to Dr.Su she makes everything too difficult and she will never be respectful for your needs only what she believes.. find someone else. read more
