I want to preface this review by saying I've been a client at John Andrews Salon for over 10 years (had fabulous haircuts in high school, even had my prom hair done there but then took breaks due to college and living in NYC for a while). Then and now, the staff is always friendly, attentive, and professional. One day during quarantine, I stumbled across the John Andrews Salon Instagram page and as I scrolled through, I fell in love with the posts of stylist Michelle Daly's hair transformations. I clicked her profile and within a minute I was direct messaging her to set up an appointment. She is, deservedly so, in high demand so I booked her next open spot (a month later). And let. Me. Tell. You. The wait was worth it!! She took my raggedy grown out balayage and gave me the blonde bombshell highlights I had dreamed of. If you've ever gotten highlights, you know the process takes hours. Michelle was great and kept me informed of every step along the way (how much longer the dye needed, when/why she was adding toner, what products she used during my blowout, etc.) Unfortunately I forget Michelle's assistant's name but she was also amazing. Looking forward to my next appt! COVID safety note: upon arrival, clients waited outside until their name was called. Once inside, temperatures are taken. Every other salon chair was used and hair wash stations were separated by plexi glass. read more

After reading through good yelp reviews, I decided to give John Andrews a try. I made an appointment with Adriana, one of the more experienced stylists on staff, and was not disappointed! I was hesitant on the price as the services are priced by stylist experience but she was worth the money! She was professional, courteous, and sweet! The salon was clean and inviting. All of the stylists seemed friendly and the front desk staff was very helpful. Took off one star because the shampoo bowls are SO uncomfortable. I've never found a salon that had one that wasn't slightly uncomfortable, but this is one of the worst I've ever used. The back of my neck and head today is bruised to the touch from the bowl. The stylist that shampoo'd my hair did a great job and it was nothing to do with her work! Just super painful while your neck is bent back. Hopefully someone can create a padded bowl for salons to use! read more

I don't usually get my hair cut at a full service salon, but I happened to be in the area for work and a friend of mine suggested John Andrews Salon. I am glad he did! Around the corner from the hustle and bustle of Lancaster Avenue and just down the street from the Wayne train station, John Andrews salon sits next to a dry cleaner in a small strip center. The signage is a little hard to see, but there is free off-street parking available which - if you have been to Wayne before - is worth a star all by itself. I'll be honest when I say I don't have much for a hair stylist to work with - if you know what I mean - but the ladies at John Andrews were able to squeeze me in on short notice and made me feel like I should be on the cover of a magazine. You are a little bit cooler just by walking into the salon because it has a very sophisticated feel to it, but the cheerful and attentive service only makes the whole experience better. Just like I expect a chef to like to eat or a carpenter to have nice kitchen cabinets, I am always more comfortable when I walk into a hair salon and the stylists look professional and have taken the time to do their own hair and makeup. The stylists at John Andrews were friendly, skilled, and stylish. The end result was that I got a great looking cut for my event this weekend. I only wished I lived closer so John Andrews could be my go-to salon. Give them a shot - you'll be glad you did. read more

Very nice place for color and cut. I have been coming here for a while and have always been met with a smile. I have had last minute appointments and never been disappointed. (One time a stylest, who is no longer there) messed up a few highlights so I called and came back and one of the owners fixed it for free and made my hair look great. I'm glad I want back. Today I stopped in for a haircut and style with Adrianna. This was my first time here and I arrived a few minutes early for my appointment. I waited approximately ten minutes. The front desk receptionist kept me informed by letting me know Adrianna was running a few minutes behind. She was very friendly and nice. The girl who shampooed my hair was not very enthusiastic and barely rubbed my scalp at all, so I was beginning to think that maybe this wasn't going to be a great experience. But then I met Adrianna and she seemed very friendly and warm. We chatted for a bit about what I was looking for and I took her advice and did not chop my hair off as short as I was originally going to do. She did a great job on my haircut and style. I would definitely come back again. I also like that they had parking directly in front of the salon. Super convenient. read more

I am a happy customer of John Andrews Salon for roughly 11 years now. I absolutely love everything about this wonderful salon. Nicole is my stylist and colorist and she does a phenomenal job. That being said, I feel completely comfortable going to any of the stylists if I was unable to book with Nicole. They're all fantastic! Meghan, Michele and Alex (owner) have all done my hair and I was very happy with all. Alex and Keith are conscientious and caring owners and I'm totally in love with their 2 dogs, Peter and Penelope who are there on Thursdays. It's always a nice treat to see them. Lisa has been doing my eyebrows FOREVER..like 20 years. I'm not even kidding. She's a miracle worker on my tough to tame brows. Heidi at the front desk is friendly, pleasant and accommodating and the assistants are adorable. I honestly don't have enough positive things to say about these wonderful professionals except... thank you for the many years of amazing service. You are truly top-notch! read more

I found the quality of service and styling from this salon to be more in line with the price point of main line businesses. I was offered water or beverage upon entry, sat and had a brief consultation with the stylist before she made suggestions for my cut based on my requests. She was very friendly and tried to meet my specifications for length and style. The result closely approximated what I had envisioned. The stylist spent a long time going back through with smaller scissors and razor to achieve the fringe and layering I wanted. To be honest, I thought she spent too long on it...seemed to be painstaking and laborious. I would go back since I was pleased with the result. This salon is beautiful, but I was flabbergasted when I realized that my highlights didn't include a blowout! My own fault that I didn't look closely enough at the pricing list online, but seriously -- shouldn't $140 include a quick blowdry? I usually walk out of hair appointments feeling like a million bucks, but I left here feeling meh. Whoever did my highlights, focused them on the wrong side of my head, so the place where I part my hair has practically no color! It looks like it's been months since I got them done. After seeing some of my boyfriends haircuts from other salons, I told him that he should go somewhere else that can give a more professional haircut (compared to Hair Cuttery). After looking around I found John Andrews and had him give it a try. Thankfully, he loved it. He said not only are their prices competitive but they a quick and to the point. What also won me over with this salon was how the owner brings their dog in every Thursday! Might I add its a total sweetheart! I only make appointments on Thursdays now. Another plus is that they are a Keratasé salon, which makes it easier for me to buy my hair products compared to ordering them online (they are also cheaper here, then at my own salon). The only reason I took away 1 star is because I wouldn't feel comfortable subjecting my own hair to them for processing. I might go there if I was ever in need of an emergency haircut or something, but anything other then that I would go to my regular salon thats a little more upscale and experienced. Overall, I think this is a great place for a mens haircut or to buy hair products locally. read more

I found this hidden gem on Yelp and decided to give it a try. It always a risk when you go to a new place to get your hair cut but I was pretty amazed at the level of service and the overall result which was a great haircut. Now, its become my regular. Everyone in there is always smiling. I have had my hair cut by a few different stylists and its always the same result: I walk out happy. Everyone is always very nice and accommodating. My stylist ALWAYS describes in detail what she is going to do and answers any questions I have. Very disappointed by my recent visit after being a client for a little more than a year and seeing the same stylist the entire time. My original 5-star review was for a bayalage I had done, but at some point they started billing me for partial highlights instead, which I think is the reason I left the salon two weeks ago miserable with highlights only on the top layer of my head, not at all the way I've requested and had in the past nor the color of the highlights in the photo I showed the stylist (which was a photo she took of ME last year!). I requested extra toner to get it closer to what I showed her in a photo, but it's still localized to an area of my head that's 100% not the look I requested, showed her in a photo, and had gotten done before. Miscommunication happens, but I would expect a stylist to keep better notes on what a client has previously had done and continue to inquire about and meet the client's needs. Plus I find out the price is nothing as advertised on the website, which I was told is "out of date." Because it was more than I expected, I called to check the breakdown and turns out they charge extra for toner. I don't know if that's the toner I requested or if hidden costs like that are standard industry practice. All in all, I still say great customer service, ambiance, and friendly stylist. I enjoy coming to the salon, but have found a new stylist at another salon because I can't justify spending the money again not knowing what I'll get and not having a stylist know my hair and preferences better after several visits. read more

Hailey is awesome - she listens to what I want, but knows when to advise me to try something new. I've been going here for almost 4 years and think this place is the best around. The Kerastase products are incredible and they always do a nice shampoo/conditioning treatment. I have very thick hair and usually do a single process color with a few highlights it's right around $100. Definitely worth it - My hair has never looked better! read more

I am in town for a wedding and needed a haircut. Normally would not get haircut on the fly like that but took a chance. I was pleasantly surprised and felt very at ease. I told my daughter she could get hair extensions (16th b-day present) before we left for a 2 week vacation at the beach. Since this process was new to me, one of my conditions was to seek a reputable salon in our area. Upon finding John Andrews salon, we went for a consult with Wendy (stylist). Wendy was very knowledgable about the process and best options for a 16 year old. After speaking with Wendy, we made the appointment. Wendy did a beautiful job, and my daughter looked like a new woman. Unfortunately, there was a mishap with the extensions (tangled after swimming in the ocean), and they didn't make it through the first two weeks. After returning from vacation, I immediately called the salon and was brought in that day to have the tangled extensions removed. Wendy removed the extensions and treated the hair, free of charge. In addition, the salon reimbursed me a portion of the overall cost of the original extension charge, which I appreciated VERY much. As disappointed as we were that the extensions didn't last, I felt that the way the salon handled the situation was impeccable. What I appreciated most was that we were never made to feel as though the extension problem was our fault, they took care of us immediately with care and professionalism, and they reimbursed me for a portion of the original service. Having gone through this experience, I would definitely recommend this salon to others, and will be booking a future appointment with Wendy (Keratin treatment this time). John Andrews is definitely a salon that cares about their reputation and keeping customers happy. They won me over and will continue to get my business. read more

I would not recommend this place at all. I went there to get my hair done ombre and I told them exactly what I wanted, even with a picture, and it turned out awful. You could hardly notice the ombre! You would have to look really closely to even know it was there. When I saw this, I didn't like it very much so I asked them if they could make it a little more noticeable. But they told me that they didn't have any more time for me and that I would have to pay for another session on a different day! If you want to sit in a chair for an hour and a half and have somebody damage your hair without changing it, then go here. I am definitely not returning to this salon. read more

Great place to go! A salon where you can actually relax and enjoy the experience. Friendly staff and worth the money I spent. I live two hours away and was in town for my sisters wedding. I experienced a hair dye emergency and was panicking. No need to fear! The staff at John Andrews Salon got me in that day and not only fixed my hair, but took it up a notch and made it fabulous! I visited John Andrews salon after years of trying to find the right salon -- and I found it! The entire staff at John Andrews was extremely professional and welcoming. I was lucky enough to have Haeley cut and color my hair last week. I usually just get the bare minimum length cut off but wanted to try something different and decided to go about 6 inches shorter! Haeley's knowledge and experience made the transition SO much easier! She started our appointment with a consultation and found the best color for my hair and was such a pleasure to talk to throughout the entire process! I was in desperate need of a hair cut and the last minute I found this salon, called at 10:07 in the morning and they made me an appointment for 10:30 that same day. They knew that I had to be out by a certain time to make a prior engagement, but I never felt rushed. I loved how Laura colored my hair and cut and styled it. She took time to listen to what I wanted (because I am picky and can't make a decision with my hair) she offered suggestions also. I loved how it all came out and how healthy my hair is now. You can never be sure what kind of haircut you've gotten until you wash it once. Jeez, I've never been to a Super Cuts, but imagine this to be comparable in quality but at a much higher price. Sorry to Super Cuts, it's probably worse. Nice staff, comfortable environment, but the lack of skill and attention to detail is scary-bad. I'd say it was just me - maybe I didn't communicate properly, but my buddy and I went to the same stylist yesterday morning and both have pretty bad results. Nice enough and very pretty stylist, but needs more training and some attention to detail before she's set loose on the public... Maybe they are good with woman's hair, but from my experience guys should probably stay away. No, I don't want to return for a free adjustment, I want a full refund. read more
