Back in 2019, I purchased 3 Life Insurance Policies with NGL. They were great and they did pay out…read moreone of my policies back in 2021. Then, at some point, I received mailings from NGL that one of my policies was taken over by Lumico; and the other one went elsewhere. While dealing with Lumico, they were fantastic! I had automatic deductions that kept on going and sometimes, I would go online and pay about two or three months in advance, notifying them on the months I would do that. No problems there. Then, in 2024, I had to file a claim on a loved one covered with Lumico from NGL; and I stayed in communications with them due to the pushiness of the Funeral Home who was officiating his services. Well, Lumico never lost their cool and kept very calm and respectful with me and with the Lending Company who was advancing the funding to the Funeral Home and needed to verify the Life Insurance Policy on my loved one. We were on a three way call and I heard everything. Lumico works through policies and procedures protocols and I understood that. While no guarantees of payment was stated to the Funding Company, the Policy in Force that was still Effective, had been verified; and around a full month I believe it was, LUMICO CAME THROUGH and Released every Dime on the Life Insurance Policy Amount for my loved one. After paying off the Lending Company, I received the full amount remaining. In all due Respect for LUMICO, all I can Sincerely say is: Thank You from the bottom of my heart for being there for me and my family when it was time. You did come through and you released every single dime! The Funeral Home was Happy and me and my Family felt soooo very blessed behind our pain and grieving. You all did perform in such an Honorable manner and for this, I am eternally grateful that NGL had trusted you all enough to allow you all to take over my loved one's Life Insurance Policy. Consumers have the right to rely on information provided by an insurance company's authorized representatives as correct, and the company admits error and make concessions. There is clearly an NPI number, License Number and Provider Code on the claim form. But they chose to deny this claim because name of the business was in Spanish and not English. "Castle Dental vrs Castille Dental." After over 10 calls, they finally mailed an $80 check to the dentist and told me it was my problem. On the attachment, you can see that they paid and mailed me the check for $32.00 on a cleaning. When the claim was resubmitted by phone request, they sent the dentist in Mexico $80.00 Clearly, one can form their opinion of this company.

After talking with their underwriting team and jumping through all the hoops they gave me to jump through (specifically proving those severe health accusations I mentioned earlier were false, and also needed me to show 12 months of stability in certain areas, which I've never had to do with any other insurance company) they wrote back to me yesterday and informed me they now need 24 months of stability in order to consider giving me a normal benefit, and sent me a graded benefit package that was high-priced with less than half the benefit I was looking for. And to my understanding, they gave me that option under the condition I give them health records along the way for the next couple years. I get that you need to be careful, but you gave a customer an expectation to meet in order to get insurance from you and then changed it on them once they gave you what you originally requested. That is not keeping your word. This has been such a stressful 6 months for me and I would not have applied had I known. Now there's a black mark on my health record that is false but I can't change it. I'm going to go with someone local who has already accepted me for a better benefit at a lower cost. I've written a few hundred reviews on Yelp and this is regrettably my least favorite business experience I've had. I would be happy to update my rating/review if anyone from Assurity would be willing to reach out and help. Until then, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for your insurance needs.*
