They cowardly called the police and without doing any investigation, I was arrested and charged. I was devastated! Something like this has never happened to me. A court appointed attorney was assigned to my case which was a nightmare. She wanted me to accept the offer from the District Attorney which would have been disadvantageous to me and my career in many ways. It was obvious that I was going down the wrong path with this attorney so I asked the judge to remove her from my case and appoint another attorney. The court appointed Mike Schillinger. The first time I met Mike, I was sitting in court and he came over and introduced himself as my new attorney. He appeared confident, easy going and professional. He listened to me thoroughly and assured me that he would work hard to achieve the best outcome for me. I was in the fight for my life and needed an advocate who believed in me and would stand up for me. Mike went the extra mile by filing the necessary court documents and appealing to the judge to consider appropriate legal arguments. He, in my opinion, has a drug and alcohol problem. He was erratic, sweaty and shaky every time I saw him. He also tried to get me to pay $3,200.00 for the stenographer report. It is always between 3 and $700.00. It gets better. He then cons my wife out of $5,000.00 stating he is going to use it to make a deal with the court clerk. My wife was so nervous and distraught about me going away for a case I should've won that she complied. He played on her emotions and robbed her. He is terrible. If you want to go to prison, use this guy. I have filed a formal grievance against this guy and found out it is his 3rd formal grievance. He is a thief, a liar and a total fraud. I videotaped the beginning of the interaction that I was arrested for. The location of the event is clear from the video and photographs that Ruane Attorneys also have on file. The police have the wrong location and charges are clearly wrong when you see the video of the scene when the plaintiffs approach me. The judge did not receive any of the video showing the precise location and proceedings of the event. The outcome could be very severe. But none of the evidence I provided was used to defend me. The lawyer assigned to me seems like a great human being, maybe too busy to bring in the letters of character reference my friends worked so hard to provide in a timely manner.
