I used to love this place, but things have changed with really no explanations from the owners as to why. It was easy to book a time/day with your favorite "cutter", but the whole website changed a few weeks ago to three different levels and starting prices of the barbers, and ways to secure an appointment. Most clients develop a comradery with their favorite barber/stylist, and my usual favorite, Brittney (sp?) was suddenly not on their website and available to book, along with some other long-time barbers. Sure, people change jobs, but this seemed a little strange to me about how this all happened somewhat abruptly . Yes, it's still a fine patriot atmosphere, and fun place to sample the beers on tap, but I'm a little uneasy about the "politics" behind the changes and may look for a new place where I can be assured my regular barber who I can trust will be there. read more

Very pleased with my experience. First time going to a "Barber" since my early twenties (78 now). Had been using a combination of "Salon" hair cut and my wife cutting my hair. Patrick was my barber and did an outstanding job. Best hair cut for years, verified by my wife (may because she didn't want to cut my hair anymore ). I also need to have my year old untrimmed beard shaped and trimmed. Patrick listened to my explanation of the look I wanted for both haircut and beard shaping, he mad some suggestions and we preceded. Very pleased with the finished product. The shop is a unique experience in and of itself. Very clean and all staff seamed interested in the needs of their clients. Will return next time I need a cut and beard trim. read more

What a horrible experience I had at Founding Fathers!! Appointments are made online and you select the service/services you'd like to have performed. I booked a head shave and warm straight edge facial shave. Ciara was the only stylist available for my selected appointment time, so I went with her. She was rude, unprofessional and greeted me with a curt, "I've been waiting for you." My appointment was for 3:00 pm, which I promptly arrived for. Her tone was condescending and as far from pleasant as possible. She also was not willing to perform both services I had requested. She told me she only had time for one of the services. I explained that I selected (2) service, because it was an option on their website. Ciara made it very clear it was one or the other and there was no willingness to accommodate the selection made from their menu. I spoke with the salon manager who was apologetic, but did not offer any solution or explanation of the online booking process and why they offer more than one service, but can't accommodate when you arrive. The management team and proprietor of Founding Fathers should really evaluate Ciara and her pathetic manor in which she represents their establishment. I won't be returning!! read more

I've been here a few times and it is a nice shop. The stylists are booked solid so sometimes it feels rushed. Pay attention to the warning in your confirm appointment "any patron arriving more than 5 minutes late will be forced to reschedule." Due to unfortunate traffic conditions arrived exactly 5min late only to be told I must now reschedule for a different day. I understand the need for timelines, but sometimes a break in scheduling can be positive for clients and stylists. *last minute cancellation offered me a spot same day. I had the pleasure of getting Victoria as my stylist. By far my best experience with her. I will be booking appointment with her moving forward!! read more

This place has a lot of history and the establishment treats the building with respect and it shows with their historic barbershop design but adding the current time flair. Adam is very good. This was my first time in and he took the time to get to know me and my hair. Detailed cut, did not rush the cut. He washed my hair when he was done and cleaned up my neck with a straight razor. Very nice experience. Going back today to have him "blend my gray". Well, maybe more white. . I like this shop a lot. Last year, I would have given them 5 stars. Today, they get 2 stars due to 3 deductions... 1. The new location is terrible. Before it didn't feel like a real old school barber, but like a modern, sort of hipster but not really place. Regardless, it had an appeal to it. The new location feels like a cheap strip mall super cuts that requires a man-bun to enter. 2. We are all tired of COVID, but they haven't done a single thing since they reopened after the mandatory shutdown to protect anyone, including themselves. The new location is no different. I hate masks too, but it would be nice if they made a small effort. I honestly got the feeling of ridicule when I went in there with a mask on assuming they required it like 98% of all other places in town. 3. Not sure why, but my barber's attention to detail has gone down. Last three cuts have left a lot to be desired. I will change barbers and give the place one last chance before looking for another place. read more

Booked a haircut and shave. Washed my hair the morning of the haircut. When I arrived she washed my hair right at the beginning. After the haircut, she placed a hot towel on my face for a little bit then proceeded to shave. When she finished she placed a cold towel on my face then wiped off the shave cream. She was done in 40 minutes. No after shave lotion so my face was left burning. I get a better shave with my electric razor than what I received. I don't have a hairy face and it felt like I had a 5 o'clock shadow already. My face should of been as smooth as a babies butt. I left with hair on my shoulders and when I used the phone, there was hair all over the screen. What happened to the wash AFTER the haircut. The haircut was good but would of been better if they did what they offered. The shave was horrible. read more

Loved that they had online booking on the website with multiple options for cuts, responded right away on their Facebook messenger, and I really like that they accept cards. Most traditional barbers are cash only and have weird hours. Vivian was my barber and did fantastic. Shared some good music recommendations. Keith here is such an incredible dude. He's got absolute skills with the clippers and sheers and couldn't be any more fun and relaxing to talk to. He hooked me up with the cleanest cut just before my wedding and had it completely perfect for my forever shots. Also this spot is on point with their experience with the full shampoo condition (optional if you want it and included), warm towel, razor finish and styling all included and a very comfortable atmosphere. Honestly this was the best experience I've ever had out of any barber shop because of Keith. If i could rate higher than a 5 I would. John Hancock is open again which is a good thing. Before you go back, however, be aware that they are not observing any of the guidelines to help control the spread of Covid. None of the stylists are wearing masks. Several of the stations are within 3 feet of each other, and there does not appear to be a limit to the number of people who are allowed to wait in the shop. read more
