I had no idea this place even existed, and I grew up in Cambridge and now live in Arlington. The park is on the border of my two towns. It looks like it was just built or renovated. There are fountains, benches, and chairs strewn about during warm months. It is hidden behind some commercial buildings, and apartments. It also appears that there's a gym and a cafe in the area.

They have some outside or if you prefer, you can go inside the Marriott and go up the escalator. FYI, right now the escalator is out of order, but you can take the elevator up to the UL. Tonight after our dinner we enjoyed walking through here and Boston Public Gardens for a good 1.5 hrs catching up with our daughter. There was a growing crowd of happy people (families and children too) cheering the Iraq World Cup team who will play their first match tomorrow against Norway here in Boston. About a dozen Boston police were watching from the sidelines on their motorbikes and I prayed all would stay peaceful. Meanwhile, pedestrians, dog walkers, families were enjoying the fresh cool evening amidst the grandiose trees, lawns, ducks, fountains, and historic statues. If you're in the area, definitely stop by, and also check out the Boston Public Gardens, which are even more landscaped and welcoming!

It's a great spot to lay out in the sun, read, and listen to music, in the sun or the shade - just a nice park and great place to spend some time on a nice day at any age. There are always kids playing here: water gun fights, wiffle ball, you name it. There a small water fountain to run through to cool off and a water fountain for drinking out of. If you want to bring food or relax in the shade, there's a picnic table as well as several benches. For a little more exercise (at any age), there's also a playground - a few swings, a slide, etc. - a small basketball court, and a tennis court.

I live mere blocks away, but for whatever reason, never park-ed it up until today. I decided it was way too early in my recovery process to start complaining and feeling sorry for myself, so I grabbed the blanket I stole from the hospital, a good book, and headed out. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, two men were playing tennis, and several small children were running around the playground. I claimed a spot of land as my own, and read until a man driving the biggest lawnmower I've ever seen came to mow the grass. I wasn't in the mood for another hospital visit to treat the injuries I might have sustained had I continued to lie on the grass unnoticed, so I packed up and headed home. After all, my bank account can only handle so many hospital co-payments.

great urban getaway - you can actually take the t and and 2 ferries to an excellent little camping…read moreisland. make sure that you check the ferry schedules so you know when you'll get there and be able to come back. went with my bf and a friend this past weekend. i booked a campsite online through www.reserveamerica.com, but you can try walking on to see if there is a campsite available. our ranger says that usually 1/3 to 1/2 of people don't show up. it's bug free due to the fact that it's up high with no places to have standing water. definitely try to get one of the three beach front campsites - you can build a campfire on the rocky beach. if you are inland, then you can't build a campfire. the last campsite seems to be the best - level land for your tents, and someone created 2 slate "adirondack" chairs around the fire pit. each campsite has its own picnic bench and is only allowed 4 campers. there is one group camping site for larger groups. nice little walks around the island to see the ruins. lots of raspberry plants all over the island - easy to pick. watch out for poison ivy - it's all over the island. if there isn't a red tide warning, then you can pick mussels from the shore during low tide for a delicious dinner. we camped during the 4th of july weekend, and got treated to fireworks in hingham and hull! i would bring a little bit of wood for a fire - there are places to find wood but it requires a small saw. also if its a hot sunny day, then make sure that you have enough water. there is no running water - only composting toilets with toilet paper and anti bacterial gel. great for a weekend getaway - will definitely be back.

Once you get there, you check in with the ranger, check out the specimen table, and then go off to get your campsite. We had one on the beach so we had easy access to the water and trails and were quite comfortable in our tent. Bring lots of water during the summer if you camp over, or run across the sandbank during low tide to Hull for more supplies (Just be back in time!) and also you might want to bring firewood and matches as there is not a lot of debris on the ground to use for fuel.
