I have known Dr. Janis since at least 1994, when I created her business sign. Even though I've…read moremoved since then, it is worth a trip to Illinois to use the services of Janis Dental when practical. Seldom have I met a person who is as thoughtful, pleasant and accommodating to clients, and services that I received from her office have always been outstanding. I'm old enough to remember the dark days of dentistry, when the idea of pain-free dental work was the exception rather than the rule. Dr. Janis and her staff, however, have taken pain and anxiety reduction to a new level. Instead of simply treating the teeth, they have created a warm and inviting environment, sharing stories or light humor with me and offering options such as customized music selections or a choice of flavors for topical anesthetics. Of even greater significance is the fact that Dr. Janis knows how to listen to the client and demonstrates both her impeccable expertise as well as personal consideration while discussing radiograph results and offering guidance in determining a course of action. In the case of a complex procedure, however, she will provide appropriate referrals rather than attempting a solution best left to specialists. I'm very grateful to have had the good fortune to know this wonderful, compassionate person and for the opportunity of receiving dental services from the best of the best.

I am so happy I gave them a try as my experiences with the entire practice and staff have been absolutely amazing! Dr. John Mannelly is an excellent and experienced dentist! When I first started going to him he repaired some old dental work which was my start in knowing how excellent of a dentist he is since he did such a great job! From there I trusted him with an Invisalign program and after 8 months my crowded teeth are straight! I never had braces as a child and decided to do this for my teeth and gum health and self confidence as well. Afterwards I had Zoom whitening done on them and I couldn't be happier with the results! Dr. Mannelly is so very nice and professional and well educated and it is a pleasure to have someone as awesome as him taking care of my teeth and gum health and smile! His assistant Gladys is amazing as well! She is very skilled in her work and is so kind and nice and caring! Michelle and Rachel are both dental hygienists who have also done excellent jobs cleaning and taking care of my teeth to assist in keeping them healthy. Last but definitely not least, Amanda at the front desk is an absolute gem! She is always so welcoming and nice and upbeat every time I go to their office and is awesome at friendly reminders for appointments and working together with patients to manage bill payments. There is a reason I have been going to Dr. Paul for 30 years, and that is because he does not do unnecessary work. If he says you need something done, you know not to wait around. I have always been afraid of dentists and procedures, but not with Dr. Paul, he makes sure I stay comfortable. That is why I don't mind going to the dentist.

My experience at this endodontist office was disappointing…read more First, I found Dr. Barseghyan's bedside manner to be quite unfriendly, which made the visit uncomfortable from the start. Second, I was required to prepay for a 'pulp vitality' test because I was told that insurance might not cover it. The insurance ultimately denied the claim, stating that according to accepted dental clinical standards, this service should not be performed on the same day as a root canal. This was frustrating, as I relied on the office's professional judgment when agreeing to the procedure. Lastly, during my treatment, there was a significant amount of casual conversation and joking among staff. This made me feel overlooked and uneasy during what was already a stressful procedure. I hope the office considers improving patient communication, treatment planning transparency, and overall patient experience.

A root canal completed by Dr Distel came back with face swelling and intense pain 10 years later…read more When I visited the office for a reevaluation, I was shamed by the front desk staff that the root canal failed because I waited a year to get the final crown (10 years ago). I sought a second opinion at Renovo, and when they reviewed Dr Distel's recent imagery, the doctor spotted a root that was not cleared out and filled during the root canal Dr Distel performed. (So he missed it twice - once 10 years ago, and again when I came in with pain). This mistake led to a serious infection causing bone loss in my jaw and countless rounds of antibiotics, time off work, and pain. I went in for retreatment at Renovo to have the missed canal cleared out, only to discover the entire tooth was now compromised and was told I needed an oral surgeon for extraction. In total, I paid for 2 root canals, a surgical extraction, and anesthesia costs not covered by insurance before it was all said and done. Oh, and I lost the tooth. Please, avoid this endodontist at all costs.
