The person who bid on it was previously a student there. He tried to use it and they told him he couldn't use it because he wasn't a new student even though it says nothing on the gift certificate that you have to be a new dancer. They told him to have him ask me to give him back his money that he paid for it. This is just another example of the sleazy business practices. So disappointing for the man who bought it. There are so many other places that are fun to dance that have ethics. Jenny in response to your comment with the two other gift certificates you donated for our auction this was not the reaction not honoring certificate. The certificate says nothing about needing to be a new student as a requirement. It also, costs me alot to put on an auction and to create materials to promote your business at our auction. Often times people by gift certificates to support and event and never use them but this time someone wanted to use it. The recipient called me last night and said you offered him a month of free group classes after I posted this. At least he got something for his money. So thank you.

I can't say enough about the positive and supportive environment the teachers create. They somehow balance the emotional, technical and creative sides of being a teacher of the arts. What stands out the most is that they don't just teach dance, they truly see the whole child. The teachers are incredibly thoughtful about each student's emotional development, confidence and creativity all while helping them develop technically as dancers. Sebastopol Ballet is so special. Their student's grow not only as dancers but as individuals; teaching them discipline, resilience, self awareness, perserverance, confidence and what it means to truly have a supporitve community of parents, students and teachers.

My children, AND their friends are seen and heard and genuinely cared for. If I ever were to have a concern about my child's wellbeing, I know that I can extend a call to them to obtain their perspective and even ask for help. I also know that if they had any reason to be concerned, they'd extend me the same courtesy of a call to check on my child. I can't say enough about what this organization means to us as a family.

It used to have classic and beautiful Russian technique, but now we have some serious modern which is necessary technique if youth wants to pursue on dance. And we still have firm classical ballet here. You will discover how great the school is once you are in. You may not see day to day development on your children but there surely is in 6 months. You will be pleased. They are also not limited to dance, will teach children self-discipline, commitment, confidence, balance of life (school work done??) etc and humor (we all need this in life). Emily McAuliffe was great! Both me and my husband had zero ballroom training and Emily introduced the foxtrot to us in a way that was stress-free and fun. Even my uncooperative husband enjoyed the sessions! Emily taught us the swing at the second lesson and the ending (the drop!) at the third and last one. Our wedding guests enjoyed our performance! The class that I was in was 25 minutes, and they make sure that its 25 minutes and not a second more. Dont get me wrong, you can really learn a lot from instructors if you show up and apply yourself. One recommendation for Finley would be to pull someone who is holding a class behind. Its not benefiting them in anyway and a lot of attention gets put on them leaving the rest standing(swimming) around alone. Implement a plan where someone can retake the first week of classes instead of allowing then to go on to week 2 when they're still struggling with week 1 assignments. Just be aware of this if you decide to sign up for any of their courses.
