We moved to Pensacola and were looking for renters insurance , and they quoted me a much lower rate than my current insurer on auto as well. So I decided to switch. We filled out our paperwork and confirmed they got it, and left it alone thinking we were good. 2 weeks later, we received a letter in the mail that they didn't have our paperwork. I called as it seemed a bit strange they didn't have it since the person we had signed up with they told us they did. We filled it out again and faxed it. We called to see if they got it and they said they would have to call us back. We waited, and no answer. So instead of faxing it again this time I brought it into the office personally and handed it to the person we had dealt with, Will. He said they had it and wasn't sure why they said they didn't but he would put it in again. He claimed he called me and left a message, funny as I have 2 cell phones and had no missed calls and no voicemails. A week later we get another letter in the mail from their office saying they didn't have our paperwork. I called asked for the person we had been dealing with. I was told he no longer worked there and they could get someone else to help me, they would have to return my call. Again I waited for a few hours with no call. So I drove to their office and hand delivered the paperwork to someone else who I sat and watched scan into the computer AGAIN. I was told I should be covered and not to worry and they apologized for the trouble. The following week I receive a notice in the mail that they would be cancelling my auto payment as they did not have the paperwork?!? I called the office and asked what was going on, asked to speak with the person I had spoke with before and was told that now this person no longer worked there. I was told I could fill it out online now which worked. I asked the person I was speaking with could she please check my file and see if any paperwork was missing or they needed anything else. She apologized and PROMISED me she would call me no later than the next day. By the next day I hadn't heard anything so I called to follow up. Guess what-they told me that the day before was that person's LAST DAY. I went down to the office and spoke with some other guy. He said they had everything in the system as far as he saw, and funny enough while we were in the middle of talking, John Shaffer himself walks in the office and says 'are you almost done we have other people waiting' right in front of me. I looked at him and said 'we will be done when he's finished taking care of me'. The guy I was in the office with was nice and apologized, showed me where everything was in the system and I should be good. About 2 months went by and no surprises so I had hopes we were in the clear. We got word we were going to move. I called the office as we would be between places, and would have our items in storage while living in a furnished place for a couple of months. I asked for the guy we had been dealing with and guess what? He's no longer working for them now. I spoke with another person about the move. They said that was fine, we gave them the address of the storage unit and they even gave us a quote that it would go up for a bit, which we said was ok. It comes time to pay my auto insurance and I look and my rate had gone up a good bit. I called their office to see just why. To my surprise the person says 'oh I see your rate went up because your renters insurance was cancelled'. She tells me 'we called you and left you a message about it'. Again no calls missed from them and no messages. I told her I knew nothing of this as they had even already quoted us a price on the renters and had already taken our first payment why would I think there was an issue. She said there was nothing they could do. Well, there was something I could do. Funny enough I called my old insurance company and wouldn't you know it, their rates went back down and were now lower than State Farm's. So I decide it's time to switch as I'm done. I called their office and let them know I want it cancelled. They say it's cancelled, and I'm thinking finally, I'm done. I can move on with my life. WRONG. 2 weeks later, I receive a threatening letter in the mail that they are going to cancel my policy if I don't pay them for my insurance and report me. I call the office and ask for the last person I had talked to when I cancelled, they aren't available but someone else gets on the line. I tell her I called in to cancel the policy already. She then tells me they have in their records I called to cancel but need to know who I'm insured with before they do. She said the state of Florida requires you have insurance. I told her that's on me to insure myself and it is none of their business who I am with now. Now I'm not telling you that State Farm is bad as a company but this office is horrible. I'm just warning you to stay away from this office. I wish someone had warned me of it. read more
