I hired Johnke Tree Service to remove two large trees from my parkway. The trees were taken down and I had someone else remove the wood. I watched them grind out the stumps, or at least I thought I did. After I raked up all the wood chips I found that almost all of the stumps and large above- ground roots were still there. I called them and had to leave a message, no call back. I left more messages - still no call back. I finally reached Bob and he said it was impossible that the stumps were still there, but he agreed to come out and take a look. He never showed up and I haven't been able to reach him since, it was been about 5 weeks since I started trying to reach him. His phone goes to "voice mail is full" message. If you decide to go with Johnke Tree Service - I strongly suggest you don't - GET A CONTRACT! I have never dealt with such a terrible company. read more

I've dealt with a lot of tree services in my former capacity as a building inspector and code enforcement officer and I just have to say this is without a doubt the best Tree Service you will ever find! the day of the tree cutting, all 4 guys working here were very courteous polite and professional, they knew what they were doing and worked extremely well together. there was not even a small branch left from the cutting when they were done. Due to having to need a JULIE for the stump location Josh had to come back to grind out the stump and he did as promised on the day promised. I had some large damaged (disease and beavers) trees that threatened my place in Braidwood, and a few healthy trees that had very large branches that were a threat as well. My neighbor referred me to Johnke after they did some great work at his place. Josh met me as planned, gave me some good advice and a quote on the spot. The work took a solid day and his team worked long and hard, completing all that was promised and cleaning up nicely as well. The stump grinding was delayed a few days but with all the disruption of the corona virus it's understandable and no big deal. We had a tree damaged by a storm and it needed to come down. My neighbor referred Johnke Tree Service. We ended up having Josh take down 2 large trees for us and we could not be happier. His team was very professional. They had to access both our neighbor"s driveways which was stressful for us but they even offered to speak to our neighbors and address any concerns. I called Josh about removing a dying 45-foot pine tree very close to my house. He gave me a very reasonable quote and said they would be out soon to take the tree down and remove the stump sometime within a week of removing the tree. He and his crew showed up the next day and removed the tree in no time. My yard was cleaner when they left than before they started. This morning they came back and removed the stump as promised. Beginning of spring, we contacted them for a few trees to be removed and others cleaned up. We were talked out of removing a tree, as it would take shade a way from our house.
